Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Liquid Vibranium Battle Suit and Loki's New Backer
At Alan's house.
Anna held a bowl of noodles, eating heartily.
While eating, she praised, "Alan, your cooking skills are the best I've ever encountered. Way better than those so-called Eastern chefs."
As a well-traveled woman, Anna had tasted delicacies from around the world, yet she'd never eaten noodles as delicious as today's. Earlier, with Gwen around, she managed to keep a little composure, but now that Gwen was gone, her inner foodie was on full display.
Alan chuckled to himself—every girl had a foodie side.
Before long, Anna finished off the steaming bowl, leaving not a drop behind. Were it not for her self-restraint in managing her figure, she might have even gone for seconds.
"I'm full!" Anna said with satisfaction. "Leave your bowl on the table once you're done. I'll do the dishes—after all, I'll be staying here a while, and I don't want to be a burden."
Today, when she woke up, she found herself on the balcony, covered with Alan's jacket. It made her feel even more at ease around him, like they were old friends.
Alan didn't argue; he didn't like freeloaders, so he was glad she had this sense of consideration.
"Alright, then the dishes are yours," he agreed.
Alan soon finished his meal as well. The moment he set down his bowl, Anna jumped up, cleared the table, and happily went to wash the dishes. With just two bowls, she was done quickly.
Seeing Alan on the couch, she sat beside him and asked, "Alan, there was a question I didn't get to finish last time. Do you mind if I continue?"
"Last time?" Alan remembered. The first time he met Anna, she had asked about his relationship with Gwen but was interrupted by a call from the NYPD.
"Go ahead."
Just as Anna was about to ask, the phone on the table rang again. Without looking, she picked it up and answered, "Hello, who is it?"
A moment later, her expression changed. "He's arrived? Alright, I'll be right there."
Peter had arrived at the police station, the one who developed that drug. Anna believed this might be key to the case, so she didn't linger.
"Alan, something urgent came up at the police station. I'll continue our conversation tonight."
This familiar scene made Alan smile. "Sure, any time."
Anna quickly went to her room to change, and soon, she was out the door.
After watching her leave, Alan opened his laptop.
"What are the results of the vibranium experiment?" he asked.
Red Queen's virtual avatar shrank, and the screen displayed experimental data, along with her explanation.
"It's perfect. Vibranium not only has all the attributes of liquid metal, but it also doesn't trigger any rejection in human cells."
Alan recalled how Ultron was drawn to vibranium for this very reason, using it to create his own body, though Jarvis intercepted it, leading to the birth of Vision.
In a parallel universe, Ultron succeeded in merging with a vibranium body, wiping out the Avengers, conquering the universe, and even using the Mind Stone on his forehead to defeat Thanos in seconds, gaining the power of all Infinity Stones and breaking through the barriers between universes. Vibranium's might was indisputable.
"Let's start manufacturing the liquid vibranium battle suit," Alan instructed.
"Yes, Master," Red Queen continued. "With vibranium's impressive properties, the liquid vibranium suit will be an upgradeable battle suit, capable of transforming like nanobots into various weapons."
Alan nodded. "Then keep researching. Vibranium isn't a problem."
"Understood, Master."
Tony had enough vibranium to make Vision's body and still plenty left to blow up Sokovia, proving the vast supply available. Although it was elusive on the black market, with Tony's recent visit, locating it wasn't a secret anymore. Vibranium wouldn't be an issue.
Alan closed the laptop and turned to his room. "Come on, Pikachu."
Pikachu hopped out, carrying a bag of snacks.
Alan flicked its forehead lightly. "Sneaking snacks again? Remember to pack them up when Gwen comes. We're moving today."
"Pika...chu..." Pikachu nodded happily.
Today was moving day.
Sitting beside Alan and munching on snacks, Pikachu watched as Alan entered his game. He harvested clovers and checked in on his traveling frog, who had already set off last night.
But Alan still had a question.
"System, why did it take the frog so long to prepare for this trip?"
"The travel experience accumulated over this period has allowed the frog to level up," the system informed.
"Next, the frog will journey to even more powerful dimensional worlds and bring back higher-quality souvenirs for the host."
Hearing this, Alan's face lit up with excitement. Ever since the frog started his travels, he had mainly brought back support-type items. What new treasures would he bring from stronger dimensional worlds? Alan couldn't help but feel eager with anticipation.
After a brief chat with the system, Alan exited the game and looked out toward the balcony...
Meanwhile, in Asgard's palace.
Thor knelt on one knee before the throne, where Odin sat holding his scepter. Loki was absent from the palace, and Thor, his face filled with remorse, said, "Father, it's all my fault. I failed to capture Loki."
During their last encounter, to prevent Loki from misusing the Bifrost, Thor had destroyed the bridge. The two brothers fell from its broken edge, plummeting into the void. Odin had appeared just in time, grabbing hold of Thor, who, in turn, had reached for Loki. Yet, in that critical moment, Loki made himself intangible, choosing to fall into the black hole below.
What Thor didn't know was that, as a Frost Giant, Loki's body was incredibly resilient. Though Thor believed Loki had been torn apart by the black hole, Odin, who had witnessed Thor's growth in Midgard, reassured him with a glint of pride, saying, "Thor, do not blame yourself. Loki will be fine."
"Really, Father?" Thor looked at Odin with newfound hope.
Odin nodded with a smile, already certain of Loki's safety thanks to Heimdall. Not only had Loki survived—he had also found himself a powerful ally…
With this reassurance, Thor rose, looking out toward the shattered Bifrost. Below it lay a massive black hole, and though Asgard was protected by Odin's magic, anyone foolhardy enough to jump in might not come out unscathed. The black hole connected to random points across the universe, but those without the means to traverse it would meet their end as mere fragments.
On the other side of that black hole…
On a colossal meteor, Loki knelt respectfully on one knee. This level of reverence was something he had never shown Odin.
In front of him was a throne, flanked by five figures, and seated upon it was a being as imposing as a mountain. Under the faint starlight, a face with deep, purple wrinkles emerged from the shadows.
