Marvel: Trading with Worlds

Chapter 178: C130(2)

He considered the area around his villa a private sea zone, and the basilisk had dug its own cave in the seabed, so there was no need to worry about being discovered.

Betty Ross is busy with other matters. Her current affairs seem unusual. Some time ago, she flew to South Korea to discuss the acquisition of a laboratory with the funder behind the U-GIN Laboratory.

Since Betty wasn't available, Kain had to call Paul and head to the biological experiment center alone. After a while, he started to miss Betty. He was also reminded of Uzumaki Tomato when he was in the Ninja World.

Upon arriving at the biological research center, Kain went directly to Rick.

"Mr. Rick, stop your research on the super soldier serum. Re-research and manufacture it according to the data in my hand. Try to reproduce the super soldier serum in the shortest possible time."

Before Kain left last time, he had handed the research on the super soldier serum over to Rick. However, Kain did not place his hopes on Rick, as the team he formed was just a cover-up.

Despite having such a strong scientific research team from the military, they had been researching for a long time without producing any results. Naturally, it was impossible for Rick to make any progress.

However, with the near-ready materials in front of him, Rick still had the ability to reproduce it. He wasn't useless, and the number of researchers on his team was increasing each time.

"I understand, sir. We will try our best to reproduce this serum as quickly as possible. Miss Betty has already invited many researchers for us."

After receiving the information, Rick confidently told Kain that, while the research hadn't produced any results, he wasn't entirely without skills—he could gather data.

He also introduced many new faces to Kain, all of whom were specialists in human evolution studies. One of them was a Ph.D. that had been recruited from the Austrian Group.

Kain greeted them briefly, gave Rick some advice, and then left to check on the progress of two nearby projects before leaving.

When departing, Kain took his Summoning snake, boa, and all the research materials. Since boa had grown too fast, it was no longer suitable for staying at the research center. It would be better to take it back and keep it with the basilisk.

As Kain left the biological research center and got into his car, he received a call from General Ross.

"Mr. Kain, the president will hold a banquet in three days. If you have time, we hope you can attend."

Kain, feeling slightly puzzled, asked, "The banquet? About what, General Ross?"

Ross on the other end of the phone took a deep breath before replying, "Mr. Kain, you replied to my email half an hour ago... Well, it's related to the war from two months ago."

"The super soldier team was deployed to the Middle East battlefield for the first time and achieved great results. As our collaborator, you are also included in the invitation."

After hearing Ross's explanation, Kain thought for a moment. It likely had something to do with the second Gulf War. He had also asked Carl to buy more arms company stocks and oil futures.

However, he wasn't aware of the super soldier team's participation in the war, nor of the banquet. It was probably a response from a Shadow Clone. He hadn't yet received the Shadow Clone's memory, and what Thaddeus Ross said earlier was vague.

Wouldn't the super soldier squad, created with the Extremis virus serum, kill indiscriminately on the battlefields of the Middle East? But he wasn't sure.

If the war wasn't what he expected, there could be changes. After all, S.H.I.E.L.D., Hydra, and other organizations were deeply embedded. With a little guidance from such organizations, starting a local war would be easy.

"Mr. Kain?"

Noticing Kain's silence, General Ross called out again. "If you don't have time, I suggest Betty participate instead of you. The super-soldier squad injected with the Extremis virus serum is the first superhuman team deployed by the military. Your participation there would greatly benefit development."

Kain couldn't help but reply, "General Ross, the super soldier serum is the first superhuman team put on the battlefield." He didn't like Ross's arrogant tone.

It was just a phone call, but Kain could already imagine Thaddeus Ross sitting there, smoking a cigar and smiling.

"...That's a person, Mr. Kain."

"No, that's the team, General Ross," Kain emphasized, then moved on. "I'll contact Betty. If she comes back sometime, I will take her there."
