Chapter 331: Alex Strikes, Overwhelming Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf
"This guy…"
Ronan's expression twisted as he stared at the screen. The scene outside—the lone figure streaking through the void, breaking through their barrage—dragged an old memory back to the forefront of his mind.
Decades ago.
That woman.
Back then she had flown alone into space, her golden light blazing like a sun, and she had annihilated his fleet as if it were made of paper. The helplessness, the humiliation, the bitter taste of fear—it all came rushing back.
And now, Alex.
The posture, the fearless approach… it was the same.
Ronan ground his teeth, forcing the comparison down. No. That woman was a monster unlike any other. Alex cannot be her equal.
"Coming straight at us to die?" Ronan forced a sneer, masking the unease crawling up his spine. "Good. Saves me the trouble." He jabbed a finger forward. "Open fire! Kill him!"
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The ship roared to life. Batteries ignited, the void around them erupting in a dazzling storm of light. Countless beams and energy cannons painted the darkness, a barrage so thick it seemed impossible for any creature to endure.
And yet—
Alex cut through it all.
His body moved like a spear of inevitability, the air around him shimmering with the impact of blasts that couldn't touch him. Fireballs burst against his skin, plasma beams scattered off his aura, missiles exploded in brilliant flashes behind him—but none of it slowed him.
He surged forward, unstoppable, a solitary figure against a sea of fire.
"He really is strong…" Ebony Maw's eyes narrowed, the usual serenity on his face shifting to solemnity. For the first time, his tone carried genuine weight. "One could even say, terrifyingly strong."
He prided himself on his composure, on his unshakable faith in Thanos and the Order. Yet as he watched Alex advance through the storm unscathed, a thin thread of unease coiled inside his chest.
Ebony Maw was not easily rattled. But in that moment, even he doubted whether capturing Alex was within his grasp.
Boom!
The ship trembled violently. Alarms blared in the command chamber, red lights flashing. Hull damage warnings filled the air.
Ebony Maw's gaze flicked briefly to the readouts—then he turned wordlessly and glided from the chamber. He didn't waste time with panic. He knew Ronan's soldiers would be useless against Alex. This was something he would have to handle personally.
Black Dwarf, silent as ever, lumbered after him. His enormous hammer scraped the floor with a harsh metallic growl as he walked, the weight of it matching the steady determination in his step.
Ronan hesitated—his pride screamed at him to remain apart, to let Thanos's lackeys die. But his hatred for Alex outweighed his pride. Gritting his teeth, he followed.
---
Boom!
By the time they reached the cabin, the sound of tearing metal filled their ears. Sparks rained down as Alex's figure forced its way through, cutting a hole in the hull as if peeling back a curtain. His presence surged inside with him, oppressive and absolute.
The sudden rush of decompression threatened to tear the cabin apart.
But Ebony Maw lifted a hand without hesitation. His telekinesis lashed outward, fragments of torn hull plating rising like obedient soldiers. They slid into place, sealing the breach in moments. The atmosphere stabilized, the alarms quieted.
Alex straightened, brushing a fleck of dust from his shoulder. His lips curled faintly. "So that's how you handle it."
He couldn't help but think back to the films of his old world. In those, Ebony Maw—this cunning, terrifying figure—had been undone by something so absurdly simple as a hole in a spaceship. Yet the man standing before him now? His control was seamless, elegant. Not someone who would be tricked by such clumsy means.
Infinity War didn't do him justice at all, Alex thought dryly.
"I must admit…" Ebony Maw's voice slithered across the cabin like smoke, soft yet cutting. "For a creature from a primitive planet, you are full of surprises. But make no mistake—your greatest error was taking what belongs to the great Thanos."
The name was delivered with reverence, almost worship.
Alex's eyes gleamed with disdain. He had already crossed paths with a version of Thanos in another universe. He knew the Titan's true measure—knew that Thanos's power thirty years ago was a pale shadow of his own current strength.
"Thanos?" Alex scoffed, his voice laced with contempt. "The only mistake here is his decision to provoke me."
He didn't waste another breath.
Boom!
His figure blurred, vanishing in an instant. He reappeared before Ebony Maw like a bolt of lightning, fist already cocked.
Ebony Maw's instincts screamed. He flung his will outward, dragging a thick slab of metal between them with desperate speed.
Boom!
The impact reverberated through the cabin.
Alex's fist shattered the slab to powder in the blink of an eye. The blow didn't stop—his strike plowed through Ebony Maw's telekinetic shield as though it were nothing more than a veil of paper.
Ebony Maw's body crumpled under the force. He was hurled backward like a ragdoll, smashing through wall after wall, sparks cascading with each impact. Only his frantic grip on his powers saved him from being ejected into the void entirely.
Ronan froze. Black Dwarf's jaw slackened.
That was Ebony Maw.
The feared apostle of Thanos.
The one who had broken sorcerers and cowed entire armies.
And he hadn't survived a single punch.
Their disbelief painted the room, thick and choking.
---
Whoosh!
Black Dwarf roared and launched his hammer, the massive weapon whistling through the air with enough force to shatter a mountain.
Clang!
Alex's hand shot up lazily. He caught the hammer mid-swing, halting its momentum with the ease of plucking fruit from a tree. His body didn't even shift under the impact.
He tilted his head, eyes cold. The hammer in his grip was no weapon—it was a toy.
Whoosh!
In the next instant, Alex spun and hurled it back.
The air cracked with the force.
Black Dwarf had no chance to react. His own hammer slammed into him at blinding speed, the collision reverberating through the ship.
Boom!
The giant warrior's body rocketed backward, tearing open the hull as he was blasted into the atmosphere below.
Wind howled through the breach, pulling debris and sparks into the void.
But Black Dwarf wasn't finished yet. Gritting his teeth, he hurled the hammer once more, anchoring it against the ship's outer wall like a grappling hook.
"Raaahh!"
The chain of momentum snapped taut—only for twin beams of heat to blaze from Alex's eyes.
Ssshh!
The red rays carved clean through the section of hull where the hammer clung. The metal dissolved into molten slag, the anchor severed.
Black Dwarf's roar turned into a strangled cry as gravity claimed him.
He tumbled downward, swallowed by the blue curve of Earth's atmosphere. His silhouette shrank rapidly, vanishing from sight.
