Marvel: Restart! Spiderman!

Chapter 73: Ch.73 Antagonized Idol, Broken Fans

Late at night, Charlie lay on his bed after washing up.

[You played the Friendly Neighborhood Hero and saved the Butt-Web Spider-Man. Restart chances +1]

Looking at the notification in front of him, Charlie couldn't even muster a response.

"Beep~"

His phone rang, and Charlie answered the video call.

"Hey, Charlie, have you contacted those mutants yet? How did it go?" Carter asked.

Seeing Carter sitting on her bed as well, Charlie rubbed his temples.

"Not great. Those mutants aren't very strong overall, but some of their abilities are... strange."

"Strange?"

"Yeah, have you ever seen a butt-webber?"

Carter: "???"

"You wouldn't believe it, but even that spot can shoot webs."

"Charlie, spiders are just like that."

Charlie: "..."

"So, what did you call me for this late?"

"HYDRA has resurfaced. They seem to be targeting those mutants."

"I know, I just had a run-in with them."

Charlie thought for a moment. "If possible, try to keep them safe."

"I understand."

Carter said, "We've already extended an invitation to those mutants."

"Inviting them to join SHIELD?" Charlie looked intrigued.

"Are you guys that desperate for super-powered individuals?"

"No, I'm just worried they might cause trouble."

Carter spoke seriously. "Even if their powers aren't strong, they're still superhumans. We can't just let them run around unsupervised."

"And there's one more thing."

She looked at Charlie. "You have Steve's spine. I need that."

"No problem. Just send someone to pick it up." Charlie agreed readily.

The black spine was useless to him. He might as well let Carter study it.

He was curious, too, about why HYDRA implanted Tony with a black spine.

He had a feeling that it wasn't the only one out there.

Seeing Charlie so forthcoming, Carter felt a little awkward.

"I won't just take it from you. I can arrange for some operational funds. Send me your account."

"Hmm?"

Charlie's eyes lit up. "We're good friends; how could I possibly..."

"Beep~"

Less than two seconds later, Carter received Charlie's account information.

She wasn't surprised, having gotten used to it.

"Oh, and there might be a HYDRA mole inside SHIELD, so be careful," Charlie warned.

He didn't know if this world's SHIELD was secretly HYDRA, but it was better to be cautious.

Carter could provide him with valuable intel, so he thought it was necessary to warn her.

"What?"

Hearing this, Carter frowned.

"Are you sure?"

"Not completely, but if Steve could infiltrate SHIELD, others could too."

"Alright, I'll look into it discreetly. Thanks for the heads-up."

Carter ended the call.

Shortly after, there was a knock on Charlie's door. He handed the black spine to the person outside but noticed they didn't leave immediately.

"Charlie Parker."

A stern female voice called out, and Charlie peeked around the door.

Seeing the ponytailed, stern-looking woman glaring at him, Charlie instinctively ran a hand through his hair.

"I get it. Just so you know, I'm a principled man. Even Natasha once tried to win me over, and I didn't agree, but I can make an exception for you. Helping others is my thing, but a little compensation would be nice, too..."

"Do you know Spider-Man?" Agent Hill cut to the chase, uninterested in his nonsense.

Charlie: "???"

Did I read too much into it?

"Uh, I suppose, yeah," he said ambiguously.

Hearing this, Hill handed him a photograph with a cold expression.

"What does this mean?" Charlie asked, confused.

Hill suddenly bowed deeply. "I want Spider-Man's autograph, please."

Charlie: "..."

"Uh, sure, I... I'll see what I can do." He felt a bit uneasy dealing with such an intense yet oddly distant fan.

"Thank you."

Hill straightened up, turned, and walked away without another word.

Watching her step into the elevator, Charlie glanced down at the photo in his hand.

"A bit blurry. I'll get you a better one."

He happily shut the door.

Inside the elevator, Hill took a deep breath.

"Phew~"

She patted her chest. "Carter's theory was right; he definitely isn't Spider-Man."

In her mind, the real Spider-Man had to be a charming, dashing figure like Steve—not a narcissistic kid.

Thinking of Steve, Hill let out another sigh.

The truth about Steve being HYDRA had been a devastating blow to everyone.

Especially to her female colleagues.

Thankfully, she was different; she liked men she couldn't have.

And Spider-Man fit that bill perfectly.

Downstairs, Coulson, with his lightest injuries, had already been discharged from the hospital.

While waiting for Hill, he kept pulling out a signed photo of Steve from his pocket.

"Hey, Agent Coulson, I'm Steve Rogers. Nice to meet you."

"I'll bet you ten bucks I can finish this mission in just ten minutes."

"Coulson, you're looking at me funny. I'm warning you, back off."

"Oh, so you're a fan of mine? I can sign an autograph for you."

"Agent Coulson, is this my room? Thanks for helping me with the supplies."

"Agent Coulson..."

His mind replayed scene after scene of his time with Steve, the disappointment seeping deeper as the night grew darker.

Steve had been his idol, but not anymore.

"Rip!"

He tore Steve's picture in half, taking a deep breath as Hill approached.

"Steve taught me never to trust anyone blindly—not even my idol," he said.

Hill walked past Coulson without a word.

She got into the car, looking back at Coulson.

"I'm not like you. At least he proved he wasn't HYDRA."

...

The next morning, Charlie first made a trip to the hospital.

After chatting with Harry for a bit, he rode his motorcycle towards the school.

"Fraud!"

"Impostor!"

At the school gates, Charlie watched as Jenny fled, chased by a group of angry girls, and couldn't help but laugh.

"Enjoy your one-day Spider-Man experience card. It's on the house."

With more mutants appearing in public, Jenny's lies had finally been exposed.

"Oh look, Spider-Man's here~"

Suddenly, a pudgy figure swung past the school entrance, drawing gasps from the students.

"That's one chubby spider!"

"Haha, look at the way he shoots webs—so unique!"

Amid the laughter, the "Butt-Web Spider-Man" swung into the school grounds, clearly a student here as well.

"Ned... Leeds?"

Charlie murmured the name, then rode his bike into the school.

He was sure there were more mutants hiding among the students.

Because he had seen a lot of Spider-Men.

"Hey there, student! Interested in joining a Spider-Man club?"

By the sidewalk, a "Spider-Man" in a red-and-blue onesie stopped Charlie, enthusiastically handing him a flyer.

Charlie's eye twitched. Was the mutant problem already this widespread?

He glanced down at the flyer, noticing the name of the club.

[Charlie's Web!]
