Chapter 59: Just here for a tea and chat
Kakashi returned to his apartment in Hell's kitchen. His novel, 'He Touched My Wi-Fi and Then My Heart', was tucked under his arm.
He pushed open his apartment door, the faint city hum a familiar backdrop.
As he stepped inside, Naruto, his kitsune familiar, materialized on his shoulder, dropping an illusion that had kept him hidden at the lab. He was with him throughout the day.
The fox's golden fur shimmered, his voice bursting with excitement. "Wow, that lady had it for you, Kakashi-sensei! And she was so hot—hotter than the ladies in those magazines you read!"
Kakashi narrowed his eye at him, his tone dry. "And when did you sneak a peek at my magazines? I told you they're for adults."
'This kid's too curious for his own good.'
Naruto's tail swished, his thoughts mischievous. 'Gotta know what's sexy for my illusions! My sexy jutsu!'
"Just for experiment purposes! If I make an illusion of a beautiful woman, I need to know what counts as sexy and hot!"
Kakashi's thoughts drifted, amused but wary. 'Him and Loki would've been best buddies with their love for illusions. On second thought, I should've summoned him to watch Loki. Naruto's nose for illusions would've caught that trickster before he could escape using his illusions.'
Naruto bounced on his shoulder, his voice eager. "You should mate with her! With your looks and her hotness, you'd make the perfect cute kid for me to play with! She's already in love with you—just show her you're not ugly under the mask! She was trying to peek, you know."
Kakashi sighed, his eye crinkling. "I'm pretty sure she was fishing for info, trying to get a facial recognition scan. She's not in love, and neither am I."
'Spy games, not romance. She's good and beautiful, but I'm not that gullible.'
Naruto's ears drooped, his thoughts disappointed. "Awww."
'Love, huh? Never had the chance with all the trauma, missions, and duties.'
He thought of Rin, Obito, Minato-sensei—losses that shaped him. 'No time for romance when you're dodging kunai and fireballs.'
He shook his head, stepping toward his worktable where the Destroyer puppet waited. 'Enough of that. Time to—'
Kakashi turned his head back with his Sharingan open.
A portal sparked open behind him, golden light swirling. The Ancient One stepped through, a teapot in hand.
Kakashi's eyes turned to normal.
'Of course she shows up unannounced.'
"It's been a while, Mr. Kakashi," she said, smiling.
"Ancient One," Kakashi replied, his voice calm. "What do I owe the pleasure?"
'Now I get why Fury nags about using the door. Popping into someone's house is annoying.'
She raised the teapot, her thoughts warm. "Just brought tea to discuss how you've been."
Kakashi raised an eyebrow, his thoughts skeptical. 'Tea? Right.'
"You don't strike me as the social visit type."
She chuckled, her thoughts amused.
'Sharp as ever.'
"Oh, don't believe me? I'm concerned about my mentees. You're one of Kamar-Taj's finest fighters. Since you left, our mission success rate's dropped."
She sighed, setting the teapot down. "Wong won't admit it, but he misses you annoying him. No one's matched your knack for it. Now, let's chat over tea."
She poured two cups, handing one to Kakashi. He took it, sipping slowly.
'What brand is this? Always tastes better than anything I've got.' The warmth spread, easing his tension. 'She's here for more than tea. Always is.'
The Ancient One sipped, her voice light. "You've left mercenary work for a full-time job. Good for you."
Kakashi stayed silent, sipping again. 'Not taking the bait. She knows more than she's saying.'
She continued, undeterred. "And battling Odin? Using Susanoo, the ultimate defense ability, tied to the Shinto god's power? No small feat, facing the Odinforce, no matter his age. You should be proud."
Kakashi grunted. He stayed silent though.
Ancient one noticing the lack of change in his expression decided to tease him a little.
"And you've moved from dirty novels and magazines to real women, hm? Found quite a looker at your new job. When can I expect ninja kids running around Kamar-Taj?"
Kakashi choked, spitting tea as he coughed. 'This woman…' His thoughts were a mix of annoyance and amusement. 'She's worse than Naruto when she wants to.'
He wiped his mouth, his voice dry. "Not happening. She's a spy, not a love interest."
The Ancient One chuckled, 'Good, he's loosening up. He'll need that for what's coming.'
She sipped her tea, her mind shifting to the timeline. 'His actions have shifted fate—Asgard's alliance, Loki's escape. Earth would have new allies, but new threats loom.' Her eyes gleamed. 'The timeline changes every second. Nothing's fixed, and that's what makes it fun.'
'Even my fate is changing every day, it's way better than to live knowing that you would die on a specific day '
Naruto, still on Kakashi's shoulder, yipped, his thoughts excited. 'This lady's cool! She gets it!'
"Sensei, she's right! You need a girlfriend!"
Kakashi looked at him annoyed.
"Quiet, Naruto."
Ancient One set her cup down, "It has been nice seeing you again. Try visiting Wong and Kamar Taj again. The sorcerers there need someone to spar with them and put them to their place."
