Chapter 254: Just a Mere Human
Boom! Boom! Boom!
With countless dark spears striking, the once-impenetrable shield shattered. The area around the embedded dark spears fractured and then exploded.
With a thunderous crash, the Exterminator's mighty shield disintegrated.
The Exterminator's face contorted in shock. The hammer in his hand emitted a blinding light. As the shield crumbled, he attempted to flee.
But at that moment, the dark spears erupted, releasing a torrent of dark energy that engulfed the surrounding area and surged toward the Exterminator.
The hammer's radiant golden light enveloped the Exterminator, holding the encroaching darkness at bay. Yet, he watched in horror as the dark energy began to erode his golden shield.
"This is the ultimate corrosive dark power! How do you possess such power?" the Exterminator cried out, fear etched in his voice.
His godly power was immense and vital to his kind, providing them unparalleled strength and defense. Yet now, it was being eroded, crumbling against the dark energy, rendering his divine power useless. The golden energy corroded away upon contact with the dark force.
If not for his vast reserves of divine power, he would have already succumbed to the dark energy. Fortunately, he sensed the presence of other Celestials nearby. He felt the essence of his kin.
Using his divine power to stave off the dark corrosion, the Exterminator barely held on, hoping his fellow Celestials would arrive soon. Otherwise, he doubted his ability to defeat this mere human.
"Exterminator, you seem to have realized you can't withstand my attacks," Wang Yan said calmly. "But it's too late. Now that the battle has begun, I won't let you go easily."
The Exterminator's voice filled with panic as he felt the overwhelming power of Wang Yan's dark magic. He knew that his only hope lay in the arrival of his fellow Celestials.
As the dark energy enveloped the Exterminator, Wang Yan summoned more black spears. These spears, forged from concentrated dark energy, appeared limitless. With a gesture, he unleashed them toward the Exterminator.
The spears pierced the golden light surrounding the Exterminator, then disintegrated into pure dark energy, consuming the golden glow.
The Exterminator's fear grew as his golden energy turned black, corrupted by the dark power. Once bright with celestial light, the surrounding space now seemed to absorb all light into an abyss of darkness.
Despite the overwhelming darkness, Wang Yan's power didn't feel malevolent. Instead, it exuded an aura of profound depth, unlike the hostility of the Dread God.
In the S.W.O.R.D. headquarters, Nick Fury watched the battle unfold. As the mastermind behind S.W.O.R.D., dedicated to protecting Earth, Fury wielded considerable resources and advanced technology. He had always been at the forefront of any threat, but now, facing a god-like entity, he felt powerless.
"Director!" A S.W.O.R.D. agent's urgent voice broke Fury's thoughts. He turned to the agent.
"What's going on?" Fury asked, his brow furrowed.
"Director, our radar detects multiple powerful signatures approaching from various directions in the universe," the agent replied, showing the radar screen with numerous signals converging rapidly.
"Can you identify them?" Fury's concern deepened as he saw the sheer number of approaching entities.
"We can't get a clear visual, but the energy levels are comparable to the one facing Wang Yan," the agent responded.
Fury's face grew grim. He turned his gaze toward the battle, worried about what might happen and if Wang Yan could handle it.
Wang Yan, seemingly unfazed by the approaching energies, focused on the Exterminator. The Exterminator grew increasingly desperate as the dark energy consumed the divine power. Wang Yan, sensing the urgency, intensified his attack.
As the dark energy continued to erode the Exterminator's power, he frantically sent out a distress signal, hoping his kin would arrive sooner.
Seeing the celestial beings approaching, Wang Yan knew he had to act fast. With a surge of power, he concentrated the dark energy, accelerating its corrosive effect.
Feeling the imminent threat, the Exterminator grew desperate, his divine power waning under the relentless assault. His celestial kin, sensing the danger, quickened their pace.
In the distant void, Wang Yan spotted the figures of the approaching Celestials. They were enormous, with forms resembling magma giants, each radiating immense power.
"Release the Exterminator!" one of the Celestials' voices boomed, echoing through space. Wang Yan felt a momentary compulsion to comply but quickly shook it off.
Curious, Wang Yan asked, "Who are you?"
"I'm the Adjudicator!" the Celestial responded, his voice filled with authority. "Release the Exterminator, or face the wrath of the Celestials!"
Wang Yan smiled at the threat. "Do you really think letting him go will make you spare Earth?"
The Celestials, powerful as they were, often treated weaker beings with contempt. "You Celestials might seem god-like, but this universe isn't yours to control," Wang Yan said, his voice steady.
The Adjudicator's expression darkened. As more Celestials arrived, they were shocked to see their comrade entangled in the dark energy. They had expected a powerful god or dimensional entity but found only a human.
However, witnessing the Exterminator's predicament, their faces showed a mix of surprise and anger.
