"Shaw, don't be angry."
A woman with long black hair, a fiery figure, an alluring yet mysterious aura, leaned against Black King, looking at everyone with a playful expression. Lazily, she said, "Tsk, it's obvious that this is a trap meant for us. Can't you all see that?"
Scott and Emma exchanged glances, frowning slightly.
Selene Galio, Black King's woman, the Black Queen of Hellfire, had a mysterious background and unknown powers. Despite that, Black King had given her the position of Black Queen without hesitation. Since her appearance, Black King's behavior and personality had undergone a significant transformation.
"A trap?" Emma, speaking with a calm tone, looked at Selene, her lips parted slightly. "But Raven is an important member of ours. Over the years, how much has she done for mutants? How much has she done for Hellfire? You're just going to give up on her like this? What does that say to the other members?"
The White Queen, Emma, in her white gown, exuded an aura of noble elegance, much like a queen looking down from on high.
"Give up?" Black King, holding Selene's hand as it hung across his chest, said, "Knowing it's a trap, if we still lead people into it, what do I tell those who follow me? What kind of explanation would that be?"
Scott couldn't help but speak up. "We volunteered to rescue Raven!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, the other mutants who had come with them immediately chimed in to support him.
Black King cast a stern glance at them, and their voices gradually quieted.
"Hmph."
Black King snorted coldly.
Emma let out a soft sigh, a smile returning to her face. She spoke gently, "Shaw, you should know that with me here, rescuing Raven shouldn't be a problem."
"Should?" Black King replied coldly. "But what if something goes wrong? That would be a huge problem."
Emma's expression stiffened, the smile vanishing as she gave Black King and the playful-looking Selene one last deep look before turning and leaving.
Seeing this, Scott sighed and followed her with the others.
Once everyone had left, the hall was left with only Black King and Selene.
Selene draped her arms around Black King's neck, hanging on him. Tilting her head to expose her delicate and seductive face, she smiled. "Shaw, it seems they're not too happy with you. Do you think they might secretly try to rescue Raven?"
Black King held Selene by the waist and replied indifferently, "Does it matter? Right now, the most important thing is to complete your research and achieve our goals."
Selene giggled. "Don't worry. I just need some time."
"Mm."

Early in the morning, Mike prepared breakfast for the kids. After they had eaten, he drove them to school.
The car stopped at the school gates, and the three kids looked at Mike, hesitating to say something.
Mike smiled at them, and they all sighed in relief.
Clark spoke up, "Dad, you'll go, right?"
As soon as he spoke, Charles and Erik looked at Mike with concern.
Mike gently ruffled their heads. "Don't worry."
"Then promise us you'll come back safely!" Charles said, pouting and holding back tears.
Clark and Erik stared at Mike seriously, determined that if Mike didn't speak, they wouldn't let him leave.
"Mm, I promise you."
Mike smiled as he usually did when sending them to school, making the same promise about picking them up later.
Charles smiled in response.
He knew that when his dad promised something, he would always follow through.
"Go on! You'll be late!" Mike urged them, and after Erik and Charles got out of the car, he pulled Clark aside. "If I'm not there to pick you up this afternoon, I'll have Bob come for you."
"Dad..."
Clark's heart tightened.
Mike smiled and flicked Clark's forehead. "Go on, don't worry."
Clark nodded, still worried, and got out of the car. He and Charles walked into the school.
Mike watched their figures disappear before returning home. He made a call to Bob, asking him to pick up the kids later that afternoon. Then, he quietly waited at home.
With two minutes left until noon, Mike disappeared from the house, reappearing in an unnamed corner of New York. He found a phone booth and dialed a number.
The phone was quickly answered.
"You're still so punctual, I..."
"Results."
Slone: "..."
Can you at least let me finish my sentence?
"It's at the NYPD headquarters."
"The police station?"
"Yes, they'll be moving Raven tonight."
"I understand. I'll remember this favor."
Upon hearing Mike's words, Sloan was momentarily stunned, then replied, "This investigation is pretty straightforward. It's a trap, and you..."
"I understand."
Mike replied calmly before hanging up. He glanced in the direction of the police station before turning and leaving.

Manhattan, Mike's safe house.
Only he knew about this place, and he had only been here once.
During his years as a hitman, due to having money with nowhere to spend it, Mike had bought several properties in New York. Some of them he had converted into safe houses.
There wasn't much in the safe house, just some weapons.
Since acquiring his materialization ability, Mike hadn't used guns much. However, when his fingers brushed against the gun, an ingrained sense of familiarity surged within him, an instinct so deep it couldn't be ignored. Mike couldn't help but smile.
Although guns weren't as useful to him now, they allowed him to quickly return to a combat-ready state. Moreover, for certain narrow-minded individuals, a gun's deterrence was even more potent than many special abilities.
With a suitcase containing weapons, Mike left the safe house.
By the way, the properties Mike had bought in New York had seemed to appreciate quite quickly in recent years.
One, two, three...
He quietly counted in his mind, and a satisfied smile appeared on his face.
If he sold them all, it would amount to a considerable sum. It should be enough for Clark and the others...
Wait, this isn't the time to think about that. Right now, I'm a hitman.
Mike reminded himself, though he couldn't help but continue to calculate, and the more he thought about it, the happier he became.
After enjoying a hearty lunch at a restaurant, Mike hailed a cab and headed toward his destination.
Sitting in the cab, Mike slowly closed his eyes.
Raven was definitely not captured by the police. The police didn't have the capability for that. But if she ended up in their hands, what was the connection between the people who captured her and the police? Who were these people?
Moreover, the fact that Raven's capture was publicly announced on television was a clear act of defiance and provocation.
Defiance?
Then, the people who captured Raven's target must be... Hellfire?
Would Hellfire attempt to rescue Raven? If they did, that would make things easier for Mike, reducing the pressure on him. He might not even need to act, and Raven could be saved without him lifting a finger.
But if Hellfire chose not to intervene, would he be stepping into a trap meant for Hellfire?
Mike rubbed his temples, a headache starting to form.
Why is it that, as a simple farmer, he's being dragged into such a big situation?
