Eric and Charles sat awkwardly on the couch.

It wasn't that they felt uncomfortable because they were in an unfamiliar place, but because the place was so messy.

No, calling it "messy" was an insult to the word. The right term would be a garbage dump.

The two boys hadn't expected their biological father to live in such a place. It was a stark contrast to the home they were living in now.

Thankfully, their current father was Mike.

Unconsciously, both of them thought the same thing.

The man—uh, George Baker—was now sitting in front of them wearing shorts.

He had slightly raised eyebrows, a tall, handsome frame, and an overall vibe that screamed "sugar cane man."

At that moment, he was sizing up Eric and Charles as if they were two objects. After scanning them up and down, he flashed a smile.

"Do you two say you're my sons?"

Looking at their faces, which bore some resemblance to his own, George Baker asked.

He already had an answer in his mind, as he had nothing to lose and nothing worth lying about.

Eric felt uncomfortable under the man's gaze and turned his head away.

Charles wanted to nod but instead said, "Olivia is our mother."

He acknowledged his mother but refused to accept this man as his father.

George Baker furrowed his brows, then his expression shifted to one of realization. "That bitch... she seems to be doing well."

"She's dead."

Eric said flatly.

George Baker froze for a moment, then covered his face and spoke with obvious pain. "She was a good woman. I lost her... I was such a fool... Wuwuwu!"

Looking at his expression, Eric pressed his lips together and glanced at Charles.

Charles remained calm and shook his head at Eric.

His abilities told him that the man was faking it, and this realization filled him with fury.

He began to use his powers to invade the man's mind. What surprised him, however, was that the man's mental strength was much stronger than that of an average person.

With his current abilities, it would take some time to search through his memories undetected.

Seeing that neither of the boys reacted, George Baker rubbed his dry eyes and said, "From the looks of you two, I assume you're here to live with me. Don't worry, I'll take good care of you."

He turned to shout toward the bedroom, "Ruth! Get something to eat for my kids!"

"Go fuck yourself. They're your sons!"

The woman responded impatiently.

A flash of rage crossed George Baker's eyes, but it disappeared when he turned to face the boys again.

"I'll go get something for you to eat, just wait for me!"

With a forced smile, he walked into the bedroom. He looked at the woman lying on the bed, smoking, and said, "Slut, did you forget what I just told you?"

"Spit!" The woman blew out a puff of smoke, looking at him with disdain. "You're truly a piece of trash, trying to sell your own kids."

"If they're my sons, how I handle them is my business!" George Baker sneered. "Now you have a heart? Wait until your drug cravings kick in. As long as there's money, you'll want every man to fuck you!"

The woman's hand, holding the cigarette, trembled slightly.

"Hmph!" She exhaled another puff of smoke and scoffed, "So what? I take care of myself! What about you? You're still living off me selling my body to support your freak of a self, damn it!"

"Ha-ha!" George Baker laughed. "Enough talk. Want to join me? We'll have money soon."

"Money..." The woman's eyes flickered. She put out the cigarette in the ashtray, climbed out of bed, and said, "We're both going to hell! We're going to hell, George!"

George Baker pulled the woman into his arms and kissed her passionately, saying indifferently, "Baby, no money is hell."

A moment later, the woman threw on a coat she had found that still fit and wrapped her body up. She and George brought some food to Eric and Charles.

Eric looked at the food with distaste, especially when he saw that the drink was beer. He was at a loss for words.

"Don't be shy, eat!" George Baker pushed the food toward them, while the woman stood behind him, also forcing a smile.

"We're not hungry," Charles politely declined. His face was full of smiles, but inside, he was about to explode.

He had already read their thoughts from the woman's mind.

These two, no, these scumbags, were planning to sell them.

"Then have a candy!"

The woman smiled as kindly as she could and extended her hand with two pieces of candy in it toward Eric.

George Baker couldn't resist licking his lips at the sight of the candy.

He was a little reluctant to part with something so good, but once he sold these two kids, they…

"Don't eat it!"

Charles' voice rang out in Eric's mind. Eric silently held the candy in his hand, not eating it.

"Eat it!" George Baker urged.

"We'll eat later," Charles smiled politely, like an angel, but his expression suddenly changed.

He had finally seen the memory of his mother.

The memory was buried deep, like useless garbage.

The woman, deceived by everything, was endlessly beaten. After becoming pregnant, she even developed a drug addiction. To buy drugs, she was forced to sell her body despite being close to giving birth.

Later, the woman found a chance to escape.

As Charles saw these memories, his whole body trembled.

"My children!"

At that moment, George Baker extended his hand toward him.

Charles dodged, glaring at him angrily. "You scum! Let's go!"

The man hadn't just wanted to pat his head—he had tried to grab him!

George was stunned. He didn't understand why, just a moment ago, everything had been fine, but now the boy was calling him scum.

"Don't run away."

The woman had somehow blocked the door, a cigarette between her fingers.

"Well done, Ruth!" George Baker said with a laugh, grinning as he moved toward the two boys with a malicious smile.

"Don't leave, I'm your father!"

"Eric, he wants to sell us!"

Charles hid behind Eric, speaking urgently.

Eric clenched his fist, then threw the candy at the man. He reached toward the woman's side.

Magnetic power surged, and the iron door was yanked open forcefully, throwing the screaming woman outside.

Eric grabbed Charles, and they ran for the door.

But a strong figure appeared faster and blocked their path.

George Baker.

His muscles bulged, and his body grew larger, like a monstrous mass of muscle.

"So, you're mutants too! Haha, this is great!" George Baker laughed excitedly.

He had originally planned to sell the two children to the organ black market, but now that they were mutants, they were far too valuable to waste. Some people loved mutant children.

In an instant, his gaze turned toward them, as if seeing piles of green bills.

Charles pressed his hand to his forehead, his immature mental power flaring up, while Eric manipulated the metal in the room, sending it flying around him.

Just as they were about to fight their way out, a figure appeared beside them.

"Dad!"

Charles and Eric shouted in surprise.

Mike patted both of their heads, staring at the snarling George Baker. "It's adult time now, scum!"
