Marvel : Deadpool Is My Best Friend

Chapter 293 : The Arrival of the Chitauri Army

Three days had passed since Alex Ray went to Kamar-Taj.

At this moment, Alex was standing atop the tallest Fisk Building in Hell's Kitchen, looking down over the neighborhood and out toward Manhattan in the distance. Many wealthy residents and government officials on the island had already heard the news and were evacuating.

There were also a small number of people choosing to spend money to buy peace of mind within Hell's Kitchen. Of course, those who truly believed in Hell's Kitchen's safety were still a minority. Most wealthy people still placed their faith in themselves and the federal government.

"What are these guys doing? Their so-called evacuation is moving from Manhattan to Brooklyn? There's only a bridge between them. Is this what they call evacuation? A bunch of idiots!" Tony Stark felt a headache coming on as he watched the group of evacuees. Despite having notified them through public channels and federal alerts, ordinary citizens and the wealthy alike hadn't taken the threat seriously.

There was no way Tony could tell them the truth—that aliens were coming.

Tony believed that if what Alex said was true, someone would show up at his door tomorrow with a warning.

Alex shook his head. After all, people in the Manhattan had endured countless disasters and had grown accustomed to them. Those who couldn't handle it had already left after the last big catastrophe. The remaining residents had either accepted their fate or simply refused to believe the city could be so plagued by calamity.

Anyway, Alex had warned them as much as he could. If they got into trouble, it was no longer his concern.

"But are you sure they'll come today?" Tony turned and asked Alex curiously, genuinely wanting to know how Alex was so certain the alien attack would happen today.

Alex smiled and nodded. "It'll happen soon." But he didn't reveal how he knew. He couldn't tell Tony that he was sensing the residual energy of the Space Stone still clinging to Loki's hand.

Today, he clearly felt that Loki was already on Earth, which meant the alien army was probably close behind.

Alex took a deep breath and looked into the distance once more.

. . . . . . . .

"Could this all be a hoax? Reed, Kadoya, listen carefully. If this is just an empty threat with no sign of alien invasion, I'm telling you now—I'm taking a huge political risk here.

If it turns out to be just a rumor, Reed, you might spend the rest of your life in prison for spreading false information and disturbing public order! Kadoya, you won't escape responsibility either!" Pierce's voice was thick with gloom and anger, his eyes burning with fury.

Pierce had been skeptical about the reports from Reed and Kadoya regarding the impending alien invasion.

But given Loki's previous mysterious remarks and the unusual activity in Hell's Kitchen, he'd decided to take a risk.

After all, if the news proved true, it could boost his support and reputation within the federal government.

Still, Pierce was deeply concerned.

He knew if this turned out to be a scam, his career would be ruined.

Worse, he could lose his freedom and spend life behind bars.

So, he pinned the risk on Reed and Kadoya, making them scapegoats.

Reed's heart sank hearing Pierce's words.

He knew his boss well—once the truth came out, Pierce wouldn't hesitate to throw him under the bus.

But Reed did not back down. Filled with a sense of justice, he couldn't bear to watch New York fall into crisis.

He still trusted the reliability of the news.

After all, it came from Ben in Hell's Kitchen, who got it from Alex Ray.

Although Reed disliked Alex—uncontrollable and unpredictable—he knew Alex never acted without purpose.

So, despite his fears and worries, Reed decided to take the risk.

Kadoya seemed unconcerned by Pierce's threats. He had planned to leave Earth after the war and move on to his next journey.

The only reason he stayed was due to an unfinished agreement with Alex—to fight together again after the war.

Thus, Pierce's threats didn't faze him.

Kaito also remained, as Alex had promised to find someone to teach him how to use the portal. Whether Kaito could learn it was up to him.

Just as Pierce was preparing to continue his tirade against Reed, Kadoya, and the others, an astonishing event occurred over central Manhattan.

The clear sky suddenly shattered as a huge blue beam of light erupted upward. The beam resembled a giant dragon emerging from the abyss, twisting through the clouds before shooting straight into the sky, tearing the once intact heavens apart.

This sudden change caused residents of New York and Hell's Kitchen to stop what they were doing and look up in shock and panic.

Pierce, Reed, and other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents quickly rose to their feet, their eyes wide with confusion and alertness, all gazing fixedly at the massive beam.

"What on Earth is that? Some new kind of weapon?" Pierce frowned, suspicion filling his mind.

His first thought was that Alex Ray had caused this commotion. After all, Alex was the only person in the city with such power.

But the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents gave a different answer. Acting quickly, their fingers flew over keyboards, attempting to trace the beam's origin.

After some investigation, they concluded: "Sir, the beam isn't coming from Hell's Kitchen. It's emitting from the heart of Manhattan. We haven't identified what it is yet."

Before Pierce could order a deeper investigation, the sky tore open again. The rift widened, as if pulled apart by an invisible force, revealing a vast black hole. It was deep and mysterious, like a gateway to another world.

Then, a massive object shot out from the black hole. It glowed with an eerie light that made onlookers shudder. Soon after, more dark shapes streamed out, circling and twisting in the air like ominous shadows preparing for destruction.

At this moment, the entire population of New York, along with S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, was dumbfounded.

They had never witnessed anything so spectacular or feared such a disaster striking their city.

They stared in horror at the black hole and the dark shadows swirling in the sky, their hearts pounding with anxiety and fear.

Meanwhile, Alex, standing atop the Fisk Building, looked up at the dark shapes and smiled knowingly.

A good show is coming.

It's hard to say who will be the hunter—and who will be the prey.
