Chapter 2: 02 Is This the Newbie Training BOSS?
"Should I... eliminate it?"
Kagura Hitomi glanced down at her fragile body, then looked ahead at the towering, beast-like black giant.
"...Meow meow meow?"
She turned her gaze to the side, where the green giant, Hulk, was struggling to get back up.
Although it had been many years, the memories of these two massive "monsters" were still vivid in her mind.
The green giant, Hulk, was originally Bruce Banner, a scientist who had been exposed to gamma radiation.
The black giant was called "Abomination." He was a U.S. soldier who sought out Hulk's power and, using a similar method, turned himself into a monstrous creature.
One thing was certain: this was the Marvel world. But...
"Does this mean I have to... eliminate Abomination?"
Kagura Hitomi was stunned. "Tch! This stupid system really talks big."
She quickly shook her head. "No, no, this isn't happening. I'll never be able to do it! One slap from him, and I'll be a pancake!"
"You have the power of Hulk, Bruce, but you're afraid of it! You resist it! You don't know how to use it!"
At that moment, Abomination tore off the chains binding him and started swinging them around. The heavy chains, each ending in a giant metal ingot, would likely be too much for Hulk to endure if they hit.
"You can't even stand in front of me!"
Abomination stomped his foot and swung the massive chain toward the ground.
Boom—!
The ground shook violently, and the nearby abandoned cars were sent flying.
"Ahhhhhh—!"
Screams of women and children echoed from the wrecked cars.
"Oh, look at them."
Abomination, drawn by the shrill screams, walked over and lifted a half-destroyed car with one hand. "You tried to suppress your power to protect people like them, didn't you? But..."
As he spoke, he squeezed the car's cabin with both hands, crushing it slowly.
"Ahhhhhh—! Help! Someone, please help us!"
The woman and children trapped inside screamed even more desperately.
"Listen, Hulk. Look around at the city you want to protect."
Abomination sneered as he continued to crush the car, "What can you even protect?"
"Grrr, grrr! Grr—!"
Hulk roared in anger, but due to his injuries, he couldn't stand up in time.
"What's wrong, Hulk? Isn't anger supposed to be your strength?"
Abomination mocked him. "Let me see your power! Give me an opponent worthy of my time! Don't disappoint me, Hulk!"
Watching this unfold, Kagura Hitomi's panic and confusion slowly began to dissipate.
Although she couldn't remember much about her past life, she clearly remembered that she had died trying to save a child from being run over by a truck.
What made her "her" was that selfless drive to help others — the belief in kindness.
No matter the world, no matter what kind of person she became, that belief would never change.
Maybe that's what a soul is, after all.
"I guess I'll have to try."
Kagura Hitomi lowered her golden eyes, muttering to herself, and slowly bent down.
The holographic UI in her field of vision began to scan all the objects in front of her.
A red, targeting-like icon locked firmly onto Abomination.
[Target locked. Analyzing optimal tactical actions...]
[Activating existing skills. Automatically allocating core energy.]
At the same time, a yellow icon appeared, automatically framing the wreckage of the car in Abomination's hands.
[Civilians, status critical, in danger of death.]
[Metal civilian vehicle, severely damaged, unusable.]
The girl spread her legs into a running stance, feeling the power surging within her body.
"Let's see... how much I'm really capable of."
Whoosh—!
An unidentifiable energy wave slowly emanated from her, and her silver hair defied gravity, floating in the air.
A deep blue energy pulse flowed into her legs, the sound of charging growing louder.
The holographic UI flickered and displayed a yellow notification: [Short-term active acceleration: Charging].
The blue charging bar below quickly increased, showing the skill's charging progress.
Blue lines gradually spread across Kagura Hitomi's legs, and faint ripples began to appear beneath her feet.
[Short-term active acceleration: Activated]
When the charging bar hit its maximum, the skill activation status turned from yellow to green, and her energy storage dropped by 5%.
Vroom—!
In the next instant, the girl vanished from her spot.
Boom!
A sonic boom exploded, and the dust that was suddenly blown away swirled around her previous position like fireflies.
It was a speed so fast that the human eye couldn't catch it.
Kagura Hitomi accelerated past the speed of sound, and the holographic UI continued to track Abomination, who hadn't even had time to react.
[Basic combat technique: Activated]
The green status indicator flashed rapidly.
To defeat this tough-skinned monster, she'd need more than just speed and combat skills — she'd also need a weapon capable of piercing through its thick defenses.
The holographic UI locked onto a steel rebar exposed behind Abomination as she closed in.
[Scan complete. Metal piercing tool. Probability of breaking through enemy defense: 98.85%]
The tactic was set. Now it was time to act.
With a speed almost impossible to track with the naked eye, the silver-haired girl suddenly appeared beside Abomination, leaping high into the air.
In mid-air, she spun around, extended her long legs, and delivered a flying kick.
Bang—!
Kagura Hitomi's kick, infused with mysterious energy, created a powerful shockwave that struck Abomination, sending him stumbling backward. The car wreckage fell to the ground with a crash.
"Who is that?!"
Abomination roared in anger, steadying himself as he extended his bone-spiked, clawed hands to grab Kagura Hitomi.
Ignoring his roar, Kagura Hitomi watched as his claws and spikes seemed to slow down to a crawl, almost like time had stopped.
The holographic UI analyzed Abomination's claws and spikes, even breaking down the material composition.
[Bone blades, threat level: High. Probability of piercing skin and muscle: 99.91%]
[Keratin claws, threat level: High. Probability of slicing skin and muscle: 99.91%]
Time seemed to slow, and Kagura Hitomi clearly saw the dust, sparks, and blue energy points she had scattered around herself floating slowly in the air.
In her field of vision, Abomination's arms were rapidly reaching toward her.
Ignoring the amazement at her own physical abilities, Kagura Hitomi gritted her teeth, her golden eyes hardening with determination.
If she died right after coming to this world, that would be too embarrassing!
She arched her body and dodged, Abomination's claws narrowly missing her chest, tearing through the thin fabric of her shirt.
Her silver hair traced a graceful arc through the air, her lithe body twisting with incredible precision as she slipped past Abomination's arms.
Without pausing, she reached back, grabbed the exposed steel rebar from the ground, and launched herself upward with powerful force.
Pffft—!
The ground cracked beneath her feet as the force of her leap pulled the rebar free from the concrete.
Under the moonlight, her graceful body drew a perfect curve through the air.
Boom!
With a powerful snap, the rebar was ripped from the ground, sending Kagura Hitomi into a sharp downward acceleration.
Her holographic UI raced to process the combat data, locking onto the enemy's weakest spot with a red targeting frame. Tactical information flashed rapidly across her screen.
With her wrist spinning, Kagura Hitomi gripped the rebar as if it were a sword, aiming it directly at Abomination's eye socket as she plummeted toward him.
Shing—!
Boom!
The shockwave expanded as the steel rebar pierced through Abomination's skull, nailing him to the ground.
For a moment, the world seemed to fall silent.
