Marvel 1919 : Rise of an Empire

Chapter 172: Superman's Revival

"I might have a way," Barry said, seeing everyone's eyes turn toward him. He took a breath before continuing, "I might be able to activate it. I don't like breaking the rules, but when my speed approaches the speed of light, crazy things happen to time."

"If I succeed, I can generate a huge amount of electricity. I can run back in time, and as long as the distance is far enough, I can conduct a massive current. Maybe it can awaken the Mother Box, if we still want to do this."

"Yes, let's start!" Bruce agreed with Barry's plan immediately. After all, it seemed to be their only option now.

"Wait a moment," George interrupted, then turned to Cyborg. "If the spaceship is repaired, will it be enough to meet the conditions?"

"Yes, do you have a way? But I'm afraid there isn't enough time," Cyborg replied, his mechanical voice tinged with uncertainty.

"Then it's simple," George smiled confidently. "Help me point out the places that need to be repaired, and leave the rest to me."

"Here, open this cover and you'll see it," Cyborg said, projecting a holographic image that indicated the damaged location to George.

George glanced at the projection, noted the precise location, and walked purposefully toward the machine room.

Upon reaching the machine room and opening the cover, George examined the burnt out area carefully. He glanced back at Barry and Aquaman, who had followed him with curious expressions.

"Reparo!" A brilliant green light struck the damaged components, and the capacitor began to transform little by little. Within moments, it became shiny and new, as if it had just rolled off the assembly line.

"Cool! What was that magic called?" Barry asked, his eyes wide with fascination.

"Restoration, it's a Repairing Spell," George explained matter of factly.

"It's done," Cyborg's voice crackled through their earpieces.

"Let's go. They're starting over there," George said, and the three of them returned to the main chamber.

Diana and Bruce both nodded approvingly to George, and George smiled back, greeting them with a confident nod.

"The Mother Box is ready," Cyborg announced, looking up at the elevated robotic system. "This spaceship is begging me not to wake the Mother Box. It's very scared."

"This is an irreversible program," the ship's A.I. warned with mechanical urgency.

"It knows Steppenwolf is coming back for it," Cyborg explained, his voice heavy with understanding.

"We know. Continue," Bruce urged, his jaw set with determination.

"I strongly advise against activating it!" the A.I. continued to protest.

"I'm starting the sequence," Cyborg declared. "Five... four... three... two... one."

As the countdown ended, George saw Cyborg's energy signature fluctuate violently. Although he didn't know exactly what was happening, it was clearly too late to stop the process now.

"Victor?" Barry called softly, concern evident in his voice.

"No!"

In an instant, the Mother Box dropped from its elevated position. An energy emitter extended from the wall above, and the moment the Mother Box touched the resurrection pool, a brilliant blue electric arc shot downward, striking it directly.

After absorbing the electric discharge, the Mother Box fell silent for a tense moment.

"Get down!" Cyborg shouted urgently.

A blinding, dazzling light erupted from the Mother Box's location.

BOOM!

An explosive shockwave rocked the resurrection chamber. George saw a figure, accompanied by pure white light, rocket upward through the ceiling. The Mother Box was launched out of the spaceship along with the explosion and the soaring figure, tumbling into the crowd of researchers waiting outside.

The white light gradually faded, and Bruce and Diana stared up at the massive hole torn through the ship's hull above their heads. They remained silent for a long moment.

The people outside gasped in collective astonishment as they witnessed the figure now floating gracefully in the sky. Lois, standing near the plaza, covered her mouth in overwhelming excitement as she recognized the silhouette she had longed to see day and night.

"Let's go outside. We need to see him," George reminded the others.

When the group emerged to face Superman, Clark, they immediately noticed his bewildered, unfocused gaze.

"He's alive!" Diana exclaimed, relief and wonder mixing in her voice.

"Something's wrong. He's scanning us," Cyborg warned, his sensors detecting the intense visual examination.

"He's not fully conscious yet," George observed clinically.

"What?"

At that moment, Cyborg, who had maintained the deepest connection with the Mother Box, found his defense mechanisms automatically triggered. His mechanical body began transforming uncontrollably into attack mode.

"Victor!" Barry warned, recognizing the danger.

"Damn it!" Cyborg struggled desperately to control his transforming left arm.

"What are you doing?" Barry asked frantically.

"Incarcerous!" George reacted instantly, casting a binding spell that struck Cyborg. The cyborg flew backward, tumbling head first across the ground.

Diana and the others rushed toward Clark, each grabbing hold of a different part of his body to restrain him.

"Colloportus," George quickly cast a confining spell to temporarily immobilize Clark. Bruce seized the crucial opportunity to pull out a Kryptonite restraint bracelet and swiftly secured it around Clark's wrist.

Clark's resistance visibly diminished under the green mineral's influence, and the others gradually released their grip on him.

"Clark, wake up!" Diana released her hold and called out to him urgently.

"George, is there any other way? We need Clark to be fully conscious," Bruce shouted over the commotion.

"Lois is by the plaza, go bring her over," George suggested. He remembered that in certain timelines, it was Lois who had successfully awakened Clark from his confused state of consciousness.

When Barry returned with Lois, she threw herself into Clark's arms without hesitation, her excitement overwhelming her caution.

As Lois kept calling Clark's name with desperate love, Clark's physical resistance clearly began to relax.

"Enervate," George continuously cast Revival Spells, channeling magical energy to help Clark regain full consciousness.

"Lois?" Clark called out softly, looking down at the beautiful woman in his arms. At the same time, he buried his face in her silky hair, breathing in her familiar scent.

"You spoke?" Lois asked with unbridled happiness, cupping Clark's strong jawline in her hands. Seeing Clark nod slightly in response, she leaned in and kissed him passionately.

George deliberately chose not to use his mental abilities to probe Clark's psychological state. The problem was that George had already sensed the presence of another unfamiliar mental force in the area. It seemed that even if George hadn't intervened, someone else would have restored Clark's consciousness.

George mentally commanded the Kryptonian restraint bracelet to slide off Clark's wrist and fly directly into his own hand.

Clark looked up and glanced meaningfully in George's direction, a flash of recognition in his eyes. Then he stood gracefully, embraced Lois protectively, and soared into the sky, disappearing from everyone's sight within seconds.

As soon as Clark vanished from view, a visible spatial portal tore open among the Star Labs researchers.

"He's here!" Cyborg immediately identified the approaching threat.

"The Mother Box, where is it?" Diana frantically looked around before asking.

George scanned the chaotic crowd and didn't see Dr. Stone among the panicking researchers. He directed his enhanced vision toward the interior of the laboratory, where he spotted Dr. Stone positioning the Mother Box directly opposite a laser emitter array.

At that very moment, Steppenwolf materialized on the ground with a thunderous impact. He glanced toward where the Mother Box had originally fallen, let out a bone chilling roar of rage, and then followed his supernatural senses to leap forcefully into the laboratory.

George teleported instantly into the laboratory and found Dr. Stone had already locked himself inside the reinforced observation chamber.

Cyborg descended from the sky at that exact moment. Seeing his father trapped inside the chamber, he immediately understood what was about to happen.

"No!"

George appeared instantaneously inside the observation room, directly rescued Dr. Stone from imminent danger, and teleported him safely outside the laboratory complex.

Although George could have chosen not to save Dr. Stone due to personal prejudices, such an action would not have aligned with the heroic persona he had carefully presented to everyone. Before the crisis had even begun, George had already determined how he would handle saving the scientist.

When George returned to the laboratory, he discovered Cyborg lying motionless on the ground nearby. Steppenwolf had already claimed the Mother Box and was opening a massive spatial portal for his escape.

Steppenwolf glanced at the newly arrived George with contemptuous amusement. "This time, victory belongs to me. Wait for it, Earthling, Doomsday is coming!"

With that ominous declaration, he stepped through the portal and vanished completely.

The moment Steppenwolf teleported away, Diana, Barry, and the other team members burst into the laboratory. Unfortunately, they arrived just one crucial step too late.
