Chapter 751: End of the War
The green mist came from north, south, east, and west, sweeping through the icy battlefield and through the black forest.
"Ah…?"
The navy soldiers froze as the green mist went through them, and they didn't know what happened as everything went dark for them.
Without knowing, they had just died.
"A problem!"
Imperius Rex shouted as he saw everything happen through the eyes of his dead soldiers.
Xerxus and Pankratios looked over as the green mist engulfed the entirety of the battlefield.
"Living Embodiment of Ocean Malice?"
Karl-Michael whispered in shock.
A distance away, Bella watched as the green mist headed in their way, and without waiting, she picked up Zeus and Messiah before heading towards their ship.
"What are you doing?!"
Zeus asked.
"We are leaving now!"
Bella shouted.
She knew that the Living Embodiment of Ocean Malice was one of the great evil powers of the seas, and there was really nothing anybody could do against that.
Zeus and Messiah watched as whenever navy soldiers touched the green mist, they collapsed mysteriously.
"What in the world…"
Swoosh!
The green mist shot forward, racing after Bella, who was running for her life, and it was catching up!
"Bella, it is coming!"
Zeus screamed.
"No… Not them!"
Bella's eyes shook as she looked behind to see the green mist coming after them.
She felt guilt creeping into her as she should've gone against her father's wishes and forbidden Zeus and Messiah from leaving the safety of Nightingale.
Swoosh!
In that moment, a dark-clothed figure ran past Bella, surprising her, and stopped before the green mist.
Pankratios raised his spiraling staff, slammed it against the ground, and stopped the green mist in its tracks.
"You want to go against me?"
He asked coldly as he stared at the green mist.
There was nobody to answer back, but the sea reacted, and from the north, a wave began to form.
It was about three hundred meters tall and even made Karl-Michael's Golden Man look tiny in comparison.
The sea was fighting back!
BANG!
The world turned silent as a single sound of a gunshot trembled throughout the air, and even the rumbling skies paused in response.
A bullet coming from Xerxus' revolver pierced through the three-hundred-meter-tall wave, and the water crashed down with a deafening roar.
Slowly, the green mist disappeared back to the sea.
"What was that all about?"
Imperius asked as he stood on top of a hill, close to Pankratios, as he was also ready to assist with his army of corpses.
"…It wants us to leave, and we will heed the warning. Where is Kiernan?"
Pankratios asked.
"Here."
Kiernan walked from the depths of the forest, walking with his hands inside his pockets, a tight-lipped expression on his face.
Pankratios nodded and took him to meet the only surviving navy soldiers first, who didn't fight back and just let Kiernan take away their memories.
Then, they went to the caged Admirals, and they had something to say but didn't dare to.
Kiernan took away their memories with a quick chop to the back of the neck, and then they arrived at Ethan.
"…Can I ask why, Xerxus?"
Ethan asked.
"No."
Xerxus said coldly.
"…Do we have to let him live?"
Kiernan whispered to them, but it was loud enough for Ethan, who could even hear a pin drop from ten feet away.
"What the hell do you mean by that? What have I done to deserve death?"
Ethan asked angrily.
"…Unfortunately, him dying here is not good."
Xerxus said with a sigh.
"…Fine."
Kiernan quickly chopped at the back of Ethan's neck, who tried resisting but quickly fell unconscious.
Pankratios was making the Admirals weak with his powers, so it was easier for Kiernan to use Twisted Amnesia.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to use it, as he was nowhere close to being strong enough to achieve that.
"What will we do about her?"
Xerxus looked at the sky at the flying Renette, who still hadn't left, and kept looking at them with a deep look.
"…It is Martial Order's duty to protect the world from threats that ordinary folk cannot handle. Will you be a threat, Miss Renette?"
Pankratios asked.
"…No. I owe him my life."
Renette said and looked at Kiernan.
It didn't matter that he was hiding his face through the mask, as she could still tell that it was him behind it.
"We will stop you if you try to hurt anyone innocent."
Pankratios said, and then he waved his staff, and they disappeared from the battlefield.
"…"
Renette closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and then turned to the blazing sun, its rays warming her face.
She smiled and took flight, flying towards the horizon with newly acquired freedom.
Left on the battlefield, corpses of pirates, criminals, and navy soldiers were strewn in pools of blood.
The bloody battle between escaping inmates, pirates, the navy, and Martial Order had ended.
In total, 324 inmates made their escape from the Downed Prison, and 320 of them met their demise in the escape.
Only four escaped.
Their names were Julian, "Captain Jack," Rochan, and Renette.
About 581 navy soldiers met their demise, and 2441 got injured.
2234 pirates died, including five Pirate Emperors.
It was one of the bloodiest battles in the World Seas history, but one thing was sure: the world was never going to be the same.
This ended in the absolute defeat of the forces of evil, and the pirate alliance had lost their most powerful weapons.
Without Pirate Emperors, they were weak enough for the navy to get rid of them once and for all!
…
Downed Prison, Fifth Floor.
"Urgh…"
Mars struggled to open his eyes, and then, he heard shouting in his ears, and as he opened his eyes, he saw several of his prison guards surrounding him.
"Are you okay, boss?"
Daemon asked in a hurry.
"W-What happened…"
Mars asked in pain, but then he remembered and sat up in a hurry despite the immense pain that almost crippled him.
"Don't move so much! You're very injured!"
Mars looked around the floor and saw that most of the prison guards were awake and moving.
He thought they were pretty much dead, so he wondered how that was possible.
"H-How is everyone moving?"
"I don't know, boss, but… Somehow, when the criminals left, every prison guard was clad in some kind of black smoke that healed everyone's injuries!"
Daemon said in a surprise.
"Black smoke…? What about the inmates? What happened!"
Mars asked in a hurry.
"…I don't know. It has turned silent outside, but I am certain that the navy is currently taking care of them."
Daemon said.
"…Ugh."
Mars stood up, holding his bleeding wounds, and gritted his teeth.
"Let's go see… What an embarrassment… We have failed."
