Chapter 167: Darien Joins the Fray

Darien had made his way back quickly after the fires and explosions. The jungle was completely ablaze around the gate he had just come through. Somehow he was sent in the wrong direction.

Coming in like a streak in the air he spotted the student. And immediately breathed fire upon him. This was met with a counter flame coming from the student's wand. He had blocked it but Harvey sent up another flame making the student have to move.

"We are overwhelming him, add more pressure," shouted Kurt, sending out a barrage of ice slashes.

"You are all getting annoying," said the Student. And chanted a little. A swarm of clouds started to form above them all. He then created a large war hammer that floated around him. It was slightly translucent and made a faint blue glow.

A swing came at Darien who was hit by the hammer. Kurt was about to off to another set of attacks but a lightning bolt had struck in front of him from the sky. Another one came close. He could stay still; it was as if the strikes were following him.

The student let out another set of round orbs that shot beams at all of the opponent. Harvey was struck, Layla barely dodged, and Darien took some right on. And clawed at the student.

It was like swatting a fly though hard to hit the smaller target. Another flame breath came. And another counter spell to block it. The student was moving fast and fighting all three of them.

The addition of the floating war hammer made him more difficult, the lightning attacking them all and the jungle under his control. He didn't have the numbers but the elements bent to his will.

The dragon roared above the skies. The air battle was tough for Kurt to even take a part in. Though he could jump up there when the timing was right.

A stone shot toward the student and free right before Kurt's eyes into a large boulder. Talia had come back as well. The war hammer crushed the projectile before the student was hit by it.

Lightning tore down again and again the dragon took more hits than the rest as it was impossible to dodge them at his size. Four large Light swords came directly at the student, but he was able to deflect swings of all of them.

The battle continued even with all them coming at him; the student seemed to always have blast a spell or a shield and even more fire power after that.

The scene was starting to seem ridiculous, fires raging around them. Dragons and explosions coming from everywhere.

Kurt couldn't think straight but there was something he could do there had to be. He had forgotten something. What was it?

"Are you alright?" said Talia coming to his side, as much as they could with the lightning storming around them.

"For now," said Kurt. "Any ideas?"

"I don't know he shouldn't even be able to take us all at once.," Talia fired off another sling that grew into another boulder. Which was blocked again.

Darien grabbed one of the light swords and Talia instinctively grew the sword to be proper for his large claws.

Darien swung the blade at the student still blocked but Darien pushed through the barrier but it was deflected enough to miss him.

Even with that the student was still holding his own. Even avoiding Layla's teleport hops. Kurt couldn't understand how he could focus on what was coming at him.

"If we could distract him somehow," said Talia.

Kurt made another leap at him because he had flown close by making several illusions he could switch to. This time he tried to make a surrounding barrage of thin blasts.

The student was still able to take each of them out or dodge them. "This is getting annoying."

He came down and was near where Layla was.

"How is he doing this?" said Layla.

"I have no idea," said Kurt. "I still can't get anything on him."

"If we could just get a good hit it would snowball in our direction."

"But we can't keep this up."

The spread apart as a series of blasts came towards them the student didn't even let them off to speak much to each other during the entire battle.

The dragon was still firing off flames swinging the light sword Talia had made for him. Still the hits weren't landing and the dragon's size made him a big target.

Finally an idea came to Kurt's mind but it had a problem. It was going to piss off Darien as well, there was no way around it.

"Hey, can you tell Darien something?"

"What?"said Layla.

"Sorry, it's going to hurt and to just stay airborn."

"What are you thinking?"

"Just do it and when you do get back to me and Talia and be ready to make a move."

The battle field still was set ablaze. The destruction and battles carried on. It was going to take a few moments to let Darien know.

Kurt got himself near Talia, and Harvey was close as well. "When Layla comes back we all need to get really close," said Kurt.

"What?"

"Trust me," said Kurt, "Harvey when Layla gets here, get all your heads as close to allowing the other two rooms as well, okay?

Kurt turned towards Talia and said "As soon as the signal happens charge."

A few moments later Laya's red hair flashed towards Kurt. It was going to be now or never he took a look at the position of the battlefield.

He moved toward Harvey.

"Talia! Come on."

Harvey slithered his four heads around Kurt. Talia made a dash to his side as well. Layla had to turn in the air to get to him.

"What now?"

"Get ready," said Kurt.

The student turned his attention to the group like huddling together was a really bad bad idea.

A dragon was coming at him from above. The student raised a large swirling mass that obviously was about to be sent directly at them.

Kurt smiled, perfect.
