Chapter 8: . Isis .
As soon as the words escaped his lips, the ground shook and the flowers danced, twisting, as wind picked up as if it was disturbed. Beo's eyes widened, his mouth hanging open.
"What's happening!?" Someone yelled as dirt erupted, making small sink holes in the ground.
That annoying man instantly fell, his foot slide from under him by the ground seemingly breathing.
People started to scream in terror, or others just stood, shocked and confused, at the sudden reaction.
On the other hand, Beo didn't even know what was happening, only that in just the matter of seconds, he was being thrown to one side since small volcanos spewed out dirt from under him.
The wind whipped his already overgrown hair in his face, its hazel strands making his vision limited. Blinking, Beo managed to at least not have hair in his eyes, remembering how other Peafowl Seon Creatures with hair (only 2 existed…) reacted to that. They said it burned, but he thought only ice cream burned ya sensitive teeth? Jackals.
The flowers that once dotted the meadow was uprooted, and jee, they were turning into weapons themselves.
D-did ah do this?! He thought disbelievingly. It is only the start, and wasn't this human— actually, he is the human to stop thinking that— wasn't he a side character?! Side characters don't have this type of power at the beginning, it's most likely to occur later in that book!
Then, out of nowhere, the yellow panel appeared. Not infront of him, but in his head.
[This isn't gonna kill 'ya,'] it said, [it's just something flashy, because look— oh sorry, 'ah' forgot that 'ya' can't see right now.]
Can ya not mock the accent? Ya name is literally Protagonist Tager, be quiet.
[And 'ya' name is 'Beo,' meaning to much things. Did 'ya' parents take after the Latin meaning? Or just Banquet Event Order?]
Surprising anger rose in his belly, but getting annoyed now isn't the best decision.
This isn't the time, Beo thought, lifting up his hair. What does flashy have to do with this?
[Nothin. Oh, she's coming.] with that, the panel disappeared, and Beo turned his head to look at the sky. If ya wanna be flashy, ya wouldn't stay on the ground, right?
A deep blue star, bout 1m or less tall, held still in the roaring wind and tiny dirt volcanos, it looked more powerful and mysterious than flashy, but power is flashiness, correct?
Ultramarine blue, as Beo recalls. Then one volcano erupted in his face, blinding him for some precious seconds. Calming himself down since Protagonist Tager said it wasn't dangerous but just flashiness, he got himself up despite being barely able to see.
A rock hit him in the back of his head. Yea, this ain't gonna be funny or flashy anymore.
The star, still in the sky, finally cracked, and everything stopped. Even though he was looked at the side of the star, Beo could still make out a hand raised, then one leg came out. It looked like time froze, because like literally, everything stopped. Not the people, just everything the meadow brought forth. Everyone looked rather confused, weren't they just attacked by nature just now?
Then with a smirk, the figure twirled its finger and the ground took back the volcanos, the flowers regain its form and the winds lowered.
Even though Beo still thought about how he hated it, he was still impressed by the technique, but he stared at its movements as it farther walked from the shell of the star. Having your guard up is the best thing ya can do now.
{That was quite a racket, correct?} That same voice.. that thing? It had a form?!
But the description of this… Beo knows what it is! The small form, confident, the eyes that flashed as it looked around, smug, and how it bowed, urgh that doesn't matter.
What mattered is that this was a--
--A Seon Human? Learning it from listening in to others at the royal palace, Seon Humans are supposed to be Seon Creatures. So why.. why do they look so different?
The normal skin tone of 99% of Seon Creatures were a pale yellow, its eyes were a somewhat delirium of black, and its clothes wasn't anything Beo has seen before. No mark visible on its head, indicating no Creature. What happened to this one's creature?
Opening its eyes, the 'flashy' Seon Human smiled and said, {Oh my, all of those disturbances. My apologies.} it bowed again, while impressed murmurs arose from the crowd. {My name is Isis, and I am a guide for you all.}
"W-what are you?" Someone asked with an amazed expression. "I'm grateful, but-"
"Yeah, what are you!?" The indifferent tone soon changed to anger.
"Were you the one who trapped us here?!"
"Suspicious!"
Through the crowd, Beo spotted Lina. Her coat was gone and her face was smudged with dirt, but she still had that lighthearted look. Beo thought that as, She needs to be careful with that, or she just needs to merely change.
"We should know better than asking that of something that just reversed this place.." she called over the voices, but was quickly drowned out by the more louder, angrier, calls.
The Seon Human, Isis, just looked rather confused than angry. Didn't expect this, huh? The backlash wasn't expected to something that considered itself glorious, but by far, Seon Humans are weaker than Seon Creatures in total.
{A-anyways..} Jee, Isis knows how to keep its temper, {as I said, I'm going to be your guide and you should know that I'm going to be a very useful and HELPFUL thing you, so it's better to treat me with respect.}
[She literally-]
"She!?" Beo half whispered half shouted. "That's a she!?"
[Are.. are you.. dense..?] judging by the way the panel slowly turned to Beo, it was definitely not impressed by the lack of knowledge he held. [Is that obvious a he!? That's a she! She her whatever! We listen and we don't judge.. we listen and we don't judge..]
"What's 'we listen and we don't judge?'"
[I'm going to judge you if you ever want to say that again— or anything, really.]
[As I was saying,] it said, [she literally is not that helpful, according to the long list of guides the Hour of the Night proclaimed to help with these things.. and anyways, it's quite the treat too, you can find your beloved ticket to early success with her.]
Beo couldn't quite believe it, well, if the protagonist can have some overpowered item or anything to have a shortcut, then why can't the side characters too? This might be good, so where is this Jolin?
{..is only the tutorial. So for this, here!} oh no not the most cliche thing to happen (just tripping,) Beo missed whatever Isis was saying!!
[Jee, time to act like I'm a regular panel..] —> {Tutorial, part 1! Can you kill with ease and no hesitation!?}
{Part one of the tutorial will make it clear that you are quick to adapt to any type of situation, so this will only leave the ones that are smart behind! Make sure if you don't want to die or be doomed, atleast kill these things! And no, it's not your fantasy monsters. To easy, it's your reality.}
As soon as Beo finished reading that, the panel started to sparkle and he found himself in a walled up room. Since he could still see the grass right under him, they were still in the meadow. Great. What is all this teleporting about bruh.
Wow, it came back to explain some more! So helpful.
{Your reality, let's see… weakness.. hm.. ok! I got it! Time for your test! Ready.. set.. go!}
Instantly, the room expanded and the walls change from a murky gray due to shadows to a cotton crisp white, which Beo appreciated.
Then a bird appeared. A large, oversized bird, with the to familiar face markings and the black that lined the tips of its inner wings, and the white belly of it..
{Um, this is your reality..?}
A blue jay! Those greedy, non working bird wastes!! They were barely doing a thing, in that town, but only lazed around as the Clan Leader still did went out of his way to make sure the younger children were providing for them! It's like as a parent saying this to your child, "it's almost time for you to go to work! Double shift today~ hohoho!" as if your not the adult there!? Like what!? The only thing Beo-- no, Summit has ever learned there is that there are some species that really can't be useful to any ancient clan! Especially since Dani takes regular shifts there, after that day he was shipped off to start his work there, disrespect was the daily basis on things.
Even though Beo didn't see but hear the clink, he knew a shadp object was nearbym
--The excuse? "It's because I'm holding my temper over there, but if they don't stop acting like they are all high and mighty, there might be some drama soon, gossip soon, murder soon, premature -" was what Dani said to Summit, when they were both 5 months old, and Summit's mother still was there to make sure he was safe.
Then while Beo was getting furious about his "reality," the game panel and in a confused-disbeliving state.
***
{Really, a blue jay? Others had cute things, or things they said to never touch, but a harmless bird?! What, is this your sworn enemy!?}
Just then, the human made a move. One step, then two, then he was running to the blue jay as if his life depended on it.
Swiftly grabbing the small sword, he missed the first swing, as the bird was already in flight.
The game panel just watched him as he jumped and caught the bird's wing in the next swing of the glinting sword, which a cry of pain resounded in the room.
{Oh, I don't need to worry,} the panel sighed with its automatic voice message, {if the reality of a player is small and hopeless, it expands in size the more you hurt it. My job is done here.}
And with that, it disappeared.
