Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Accidental (and Disastrous) Love Spell
After the dark events of the last encounter with Akira's spirit, the group finally had a moment of peace. They were ready to leave the city, but something curious began to grow between them: Sakura seemed to develop feelings for Akira. She was normally calm and reserved, but whenever Akira was around, her face would be slightly flushed.
Yumi, observant as always, did not let this change go unnoticed.
— You like him, don't you? — Yumi asked, with a mischievous smile on her face.
Sakura, always serious, tried to hide it.
— I don't know what you're talking about, Yumi. But Yumi, determined, didn't give up.
— Ah, come on! It's obvious! Every time he stands next to you you get all embarrassed. How about I help you with that?
Sakura, now even redder, looked suspicious.
— What do you mean by 'help'?
Yumi gave a smile full of ulterior motives.
— Well, I know some basic love spells. Nothing special! Just something to give that little push, you know?
Sakura hesitated.
— I don't know if this is a good idea, Yumi...
— Trust me! What could go wrong?
Deciding to help her friend, Yumi went in search of the ingredients for the spell. She had learned a simple spell some time ago, which was supposed to make a person want to be more attentive and attracted to the person casting the spell. It wasn't anything extreme, just a small spark to get Akira's attention.
In a quiet corner of the city, Yumi drew some symbols on the ground with colored chalk and distributed flower petals around.
— Everything is ready! — Yumi said, proudly. — Now, Sakura, you just need to think about Akira while I perform the incantation. He will feel a subtle attraction to you.
Sakura was still skeptical, but decided to trust Yumi. After all, what could go so wrong?
Yumi closed her eyes and began to mutter the spell, waving the magic wand dramatically as a light magical breeze rose around them. But something strange happened. Instead of the magic focusing solely on Akira, an unexpected glow appeared in the air, spreading throughout the city like an enchanted mist.
— Hmm... that doesn't seem right... — Yumi muttered thoughtfully.
Before they could react, chaos began to spread throughout the city.
Suddenly, the city's residents began to act strangely. People who had never met each other began to exchange passionate glances and run after each other in comical and completely out of control scenes.
Ryo, who was in a nearby market, noticed something very wrong when a group of women started following him, letting out passionate sighs. He tried to run away, but the more he ran, the more people joined the chase.
- What is happening?! — Ryo screamed, terrified.
Meanwhile, Kenji found himself surrounded by several girls who seemed enchanted by him. He, always sarcastic, looked around with half-closed eyes.
— Really? I'm irresistible, but this is too much.
Akira, in turn, looked confused. Some people in the city began to look at him with their hearts in their eyes, which made him clearly uncomfortable. But something bothered him even more: he felt that the spell was affecting the entire city in a way he knew well.
He quickly walked over to Yumi and Sakura, who were trying to hide their embarrassed faces as they watched the chaos.
— You... what did you do? — Akira said, crossing his arms.
Yumi, nervous, laughed awkwardly.
— Well... it was supposed to be a basic love spell, but... it seems like it got a little out of hand.
Akira sighed.
— It's a magic that affects people's emotions and diverts them from their true feelings. Now everyone is caught up in impulses they don't even understand.
— I can send you back to your dimension, but first we have to deal with the chaos you two caused.
Yumi giggled nervously.
— Well... maybe we'd better start renewing this.
While the three tried to figure out what to do, the city remained in absolute chaos. People confessed to strangers, flowers and gifts were distributed in the streets, while romantic music played on every corner.
Ryo, who was still running away from his "admirers", finally managed to hide behind a fruit stand.
— This can't get any worse... — he murmured, as he saw more people pass by him with passionate looks.
Kenji, on the other hand, was angrier than ever.
— If I have to deal with one more sappy look, I swear I'm going to kill something.
Yumi and Sakura joined Akira to find a solution, as he explained that the spell had the potential to last for days unless it was undone properly.
— Yumi, you have to recite the incantation backwards, — said Akira. — This should disperse the energy that remains.
Yumi sighed.
— Okay, okay... this is my fault after all.
With Akira's help, Yumi prepared the place to undo the spell. They returned to the same quiet corner of the city, now even more illuminated by the stars that shone in the night sky.
Sakura, although embarrassed by everything that had happened, watched Akira with a look that mixed admiration and nervousness. Maybe the spell hadn't worked, but she still felt something genuine for him.
— Start — said Akira, with his calm and reassuring voice.
Yumi nodded and began reciting the spell in reverse, her words echoing softly throughout the city. Little by little, a magical fog that enveloped the inhabitants began to dissipate. The people who were running after each other suddenly stopped, looking confused, as if waking up from a strange dream.
Ryo, now finally free from his "admirers", breathed a sigh of relief.
— Finally... peace.
Kenji, who was lying on the ground tired of running away from people, let out a sigh.
— Next time, Yumi, try to avoid messing with love magic. Clearly, that's not your strong suit.
The city returned to normal and the group could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Yumi, although embarrassed by the disaster, couldn't help but smile a little.
— Well, at least we learned something today, right?
Sakura glanced sideways at Akira, still uncertain about her feelings, but more confident that when the time was right, she wouldn't need magic to get closer to him.
Akira, in turn, looked at them.
— Next time, perhaps it would be better not to try to solve things with uncontrolled spells.
