Magnate Tycoon: How Did Simply Enjoying Life Make Me a Male God?

Chapter 305 Investigation_2

After listening, Zhou Li sensed the complexity from the other person's expression, nodded seriously and then turned to leave.

Looking at the orderly and solemn cypress trees outside the window, Zhou Li's eyes showed a trace of worry:

"Li Jing, you must not get involved in this affair..."

...

Early the next morning, the sunlight had just pierced through the clouds, not yet dispersing the city's chill.

Zhou Li and her colleagues were already standing at the entrance of the Cultural Park construction site.

Wearing a black suit, Zhou Li stood tall and straight, looking capable yet refined, with her short hair gently swaying in the morning breeze.

"Everyone, pay extra attention. This visit is not simple, gathering evidence requires careful attention to detail to ensure we understand the true situation," Zhou Li whispered to her colleagues.

Their mission was to investigate potential violations and irregularities in the construction, requiring them to be cautious and discover clues through details.

As they stepped into the site, the loud noises of machinery and the shouts of workers filled their ears.

Zhou Li and her colleagues were observing the construction site while inquiring about the situation from several workers.

However, their appearance quickly drew some people's attention.

A group of people emerged from God knows where, swiftly approaching Zhou Li and her group.

Leading them was a burly middle-aged man, his brows furrowed, shouting loudly:

"Hey, you guys over there, wait a minute! Are you from the company responsible for this site?

This site works day and night, the noise is so loud we can't sleep at all! Most importantly, the groundwater—some say this project is polluting the groundwater in this entire area, are you going to do something about it?"

Zhou Li frowned slightly, realizing they were mistaken for Cultural Park staff.

She was about to explain when another woman's lament interrupted her: "I heard people saying that the polluted groundwater might contain heavy metals, long-term consumption will accumulate in the body, causing various diseases.

We're not well-educated, can't understand government planning and construction, but our tap water plant uses groundwater sources, you can't disrupt our lives."

"Exactly, today you must give us an explanation."

"Right, otherwise don't think about leaving!"

Everyone spoke one after another, expressing dissatisfaction.

Seeing this, her colleagues looked slightly unsettled, casting eyes for help toward Zhou Li.

Zhou Li took a deep breath, trying to remain calm.

She raised her voice and said to the crowd: "Everyone, please calm down and listen to me."

Hearing Zhou Li's words, the crowd gradually quieted down, their eyes turning to her.

"We are not Cultural Park people; we are staff from the municipal committee here to investigate the construction site. We will record all the issues you've raised and definitely provide a resolution," Zhou Li said sincerely, her eyes filled with honesty which seemed to calm the crowd's anger a bit.

At that moment, the leading middle-aged man frowned, speaking with a hint of provocation: "You say you're from the municipal committee; do you have any proof?"

Zhou Li signaled with her eyes, prompting her colleagues to show their identification. She patiently explained: "We understand everyone's feelings, but we're here to protect everyone's rights and solve the problem."

Speaking, Zhou Li signaled her colleagues to take out pen and paper, continuing: "Everyone can tell us the specifics, we will carefully record them, report to the superior leaders, and investigate any related violations."

Seeing this, the crowd gradually lowered their guard, beginning to detail the disturbances caused by the construction site. Meanwhile, the leading few exchanged a glance and quietly slipped out of the crowd.

Zhou Li and her colleagues listened attentively while quickly recording with pens on their notepads.

After understanding the situation, she promised the crowd: "We will promptly investigate, urging relevant departments to solve the issues and provide a satisfactory response. If anyone notices new developments, feel free to contact us at any time."

Hearing this, the crowd looked at each other, uttering a few more complaints and laments before slowly dispersing.

Watching the dispersing crowd, Zhou Li frowned, her doubts growing stronger, a strange work intuition making her feel something was amiss.

"Section Chief Zhou, I didn't expect this project to impact the groundwater so severely."

"Yes, no wonder the nearby residents are dissatisfied, it's understandable."

"No..."

Hearing her colleagues speak, Zhou Li continued frowning, gazing at the departing crowd and softly said: "I feel the few speaking as leaders didn't seem like ordinary residents..."

"What?"

Her colleagues were surprised, then upon careful recollection indeed found something unusual.

"After we revealed our identities, those leading figures seemed to have disappeared..."

"Could someone be deliberately organizing residents to create trouble?"

"I don't know, this issue is suspicious and will require further investigation."

Zhou Li turned to look in the direction of Jiajing Company: "Let's go check out their company then..."

...

The next day, sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling window of an office, casting a golden shadow on the ground.

Li Jing sat at a spacious desk, focusing on reviewing a document about water quality testing, his slender fingers occasionally tapping lightly on the paper.

The crisp sound of high heels approached from afar, and the office door was pushed open.

Wei Jia walked in.

She wore a tailored black suit with a dark red high-end custom silk dress underneath, the exquisite tailoring accentuating her voluptuous figure, her refined makeup presenting a face both cold and alluring.

"Li Jing, something's happened."

Wei Jia's voice broke the silence in the room, an unusual urgency evident between her brows.

Li Jing raised his head, glanced at the paleness of Wei Jia's chest, and calmly asked: "What's wrong?"

Wei Jia placed a document on the desk, the cover reading "Investigation of Cultural Park Construction Site Groundwater Issues."

"The municipal committee sent someone yesterday to investigate the groundwater issue at the site, saying our construction might have affected the surrounding groundwater sources."

Li Jing frowned slightly, picked up the document casually and flipped through it, his expression remaining calm: "Our construction strictly follows regulations; how could there be such a problem?"

Wei Jia nodded, a cold glint flashing in her eyes: "I know, but now they're investigating, if exploited by someone with an ulterior motive, it could be detrimental to us."

Li Jing leaned back in his chair, crossing his hands on his chest, thinking for a moment before asking: "Who's in charge of the investigation?"

Wei Jia glanced at the document in her hand, saying: "Someone named Zhou Li. I checked her background; she has strong work capabilities, though she's not been here long, she's already participated in several major cases at the municipal committee."

Upon hearing the name "Zhou Li," Li Jing raised an eyebrow, a familiar image instantly flashing through his mind.

"It's actually her?"

Wei Jia, noticing Li Jing's reaction, couldn't help but feel puzzled: "What's wrong? You know this Zhou Li?"

Li Jing's lips curved slightly, his eyes carrying a playful look: "Not only do I know her, but I'm very familiar with her."

"Very familiar?"

Wei Jia frowned slightly, a barely noticeable hint of jealousy in her eyes: "Don't tell me she's also one of your women."

Li Jing shrugged, recalling Zhou Li's slightly shy yet competent and serious demeanor:

"She was my high school classmate; we got along well but haven't reached the point you're imagining.

But since she's responsible for the investigation, I'm relieved; as long as we're innocent, she will surely uncover the truth."

Seeing Li Jing's relaxed demeanor, Wei Jia's worry eased slightly, yet she couldn't help but remind him: "Even if you know her, don't be complacent, it concerns the company's reputation and project progress."

Li Jing stood up, walked to Wei Jia's side, gently embraced her slim waist, and smiled: "I understand, don't you worry too much? You continue to manage the company well, I'll handle this matter."

Upon hearing this, Wei Jia took a deep breath and nodded: "Alright, I trust you."

As Wei Jia left, Li Jing thought back to the New Year when he and Zhou Li returned home together, his lips curling slightly:

"It's been a few months since we last met; I wonder how she's doing now.

To be able to handle an investigation of this magnitude, it seems she has grown quite a bit..."
