Fire and Ice were wreaking havoc within his body, disabling a normal human instantly. Despite Nian Bing possessing both extreme attributes, he teetered on the brink of destruction. Any misstep could lead to self-immolation or be frozen to death.

His body spasmed under the shifting red and blue glow; the agonizing pain stimulated his meridians as blood slowly seeped from his pores.

The Ice-Snow Goddess Stone and Flame God Stone seemed to enter a frenzy along with Nian Bing's internal state. The ice and fire elements assaulted his body at thrice the usual speed. As the chaos from both magic powers gradually intensified, Nian Bing's life was about to be ended under their mutual assault. Suddenly, a warm green light spread from his chest, merging into the Ice and Fire magic powers. Nian Bing's body was no longer half-blue half-red—it was already fully covered by both magic powers, resulting in an amalgamated state. With the gentleness of the green aura, Nian Bing cried out as the Ice and Fire elements within began to rotate under its influence. Their conflict continued, but it was no longer as violent as before. Seizing this opportunity, Nian Bing promptly activated his Spiritual Power, trying to control the opposing magic powers. But he was shocked to discover that all magic elements within him were merging towards the vortex mixed with the green light. While the merging process was slow, it was unstoppable.

The green light vanished in the blink of an eye. With his magic power entering this peculiar state, the agony from the contrasting temperatures disappeared. The rotating Ice and Fire energies reached a wonderful state of fusion. They seemed to be completely separated yet completely merged, with their conflict turning increasingly weak. The red and blue vortexes were gradually brimming with power; the Ice-Snow Goddess Stone and Flame God Stone continued supplying magic elements at several times the typical rate. The scattered magic power within his body was gradually being gathered by the vortexes. The vortexes weren't large, but as the two magic powers gathered, the blue and red lights grew crystalline.

...

Rong Tian rubbed his son's head with a smile, saying, "Ice can extinguish fire, but similarly, when the fire reaches a certain strength, it can also melt ice. They counteract each other. Among the four common magic elements, only water and fire share a close relationship, with ice being no exception—they are all full of life. An elder mage once mentioned that when fire and water reach a delicate level, they can be interchanged. Nothing in the world is absolute; as long as the elemental strength stays constant, fire and water elements are but a hair's breadth away. This notion evoked significant reactions in the Magic World, garnering more opposition than acceptance. Initially, I was against it too. However, after joining with your mother, I discovered that the amalgamation of water and fire wasn't entirely impossible. But as a Fire Attribute Mage, my understanding of ice was simply too inadequate to convert fire into ice. If only your mother weren't taken away, perhaps with some more time together, we could've figured out the real principle of Fire and Ice co-origin."

"Dad, what does it mean by the amalgamation of water and fire? How did you find that out?" young Nian Bing asked curiously.

Rong Tian coughed awkwardly a couple of times, his face reddening to cover up his discomfort, "You're still young. I'll tell you when you're older."

...

Water and fire are the closest related magic elements. Could it be that my current state is the fusion of water and fire that my father mentioned? Ice originates from water, could it be possible that fire and ice could have the same origin too? The colossal change within his body made Nian Bing very uncomfortable, but he vaguely understood that he needed to maintain this state now and let the magical elements of ice and fire continue to operate as they are. Only in this way can he avoid being destroyed due to their mutual attacks.

For the first time in a year, Nian Bing's body returned to normal human temperature, no longer half cold and half hot. The warm and harmonious feeling made him reenter the meditative state, relaxing his consciousness in comfort. Little did he know that from this moment, he had become the first Fire and Ice Dual Origin Mage on the entire continent. Although he had only entered the initial stage of fire and ice co-origin, the uniqueness of the magic he would cast in the future was far beyond comparison to ordinary mages.

At dawn, when the first ray of sunshine shot into the room through the window, Nian Bing woke up from his meditative state. The sharply contrasted magic powers within him had disappeared, replaced by a vortex. The red and blue vortex, about the size of a fist, was slowly rotating, with two different magical powers reflecting each other. Brilliant blue and red looked so splendid that Nian Bing clearly felt that his perception of magical elements seemed to be significantly stronger than before. He touched the jade token hanging on his chest and murmured, "Auntie, thank you. If it weren't for this Tianhua Token to stabilize my magic power in time, I fear... Your kindness, Nian Bing will repay someday." In a crisis, the bluish light came from the Tianhua Token. The mutton fat jade-carved jade token had a more significant effect than he had imagined. With a flash in his eyes, he lifted his hand holding the Morning Dew Knife and softly chanted, "Ice Element! I request you to condense into a sharp giant blade and break the shackles and chains of the world."

The blue light lit up from the Ice-Snow Goddess Stone, the visible ice element condensed into shape, a blue entity Ice Blade appeared in front of him. The vortex in his body was continually rotating. The use of the Ice Blade Technique did not affect it, and there was no noticeable decrease in the ice magic power; the vortex was still rotating in a balanced state.

Nian Bing's heart raced as he subconsciously pulled out the Fire God Stone from his arms and chanted again, "Fire Element! I request you to condense into a sharp giant blade and break the shackles and chains of the world."

The flame replaced the blue Ice Blade. In the flickering light, a tangible Flame Knife appeared in front of him. With the same right hand, no longer distinguishing between ice and fire, Nian Bing's heart trembled. The clever combination of ice and fire gave him the actual ability to use two contradictory magics. With a flash of light, under the influence of spiritual power, the Ice Blade and the Flame Knife collided in mid-air. With a hissing sound, steam rose, and the two Second-Rank magics disappeared simultaneously, "Success, great, I can finally use two types of magic." Nian Bing excitedly jumped off the bed—the ability granted by Fire and Ice sharing the same origin was indeed unique.

A knock on the door sounded, and Cha Ji's voice came from outside, "What are you screaming about early in the morning? Open the door."

Nian Bing quickly put away the Fire God Stone, went up to open the door, and as soon as Cha Ji saw him, he promptly covered his nose, "Wow, it stinks, did you poop in the room?"

Nian Bing was stunned for a moment, he looked down at himself, only then discovered that he didn't know when his body had become sticky, his clothes were stained by a paste-like substance, making him feel extremely uncomfortable.

Cha Ji looked Nian Bing up and down, slightly surprised in his heart. It had only been a night, and Nian Bing seemed to have grown a little taller, but the most significant change was his eyes. His originally childish eyes seemed to have become much deeper, feeling like an adult, especially the luminous glow in them, it gave people a unique sensation.

"Nian Bing, what happened last night?" Cha Ji asked in surprise.

Nian Bing scratched his head and said, "Master, it seems that my magic has broken through a new realm. I don't know why I'm sweating so much." He, of course, didn't know that this was because the struggle between the ice and fire was so fierce that it forced out all the impurities in his body, causing him to undergo a rebirth process, hence these changes in his body.
