Chapter 639: Legendary and Legends in Legends Chapter Seven Meeting (3)_2
With just a light clap of his hands, Hernfurry quieted the surrounding sounds. The murmuring water outside, the rustling leaves, and the chirping birds were pleasant, yet now they needed an environment free from disturbance. Besides using magic to isolate the sound, numerous barriers to prevent detection were also in operation, stopping any prying eyes. Now, this place felt like an isolated world, with the dark clouds and blood-red acid rain afar resembling a morning mist, vague and indistinct.
But what they needed to discuss was that mist. Would it turn into a raging storm, accompanied by lightning and hail, destroying the peace of the entire continent? Everyone had such concerns in their hearts.
Lynch worried only about his friends. He was neither a saint nor a devoutly kind believer, nor was he a fanatical war enthusiast. As a mage, he could fully retreat to the All-Knowing Tower to conduct his magical research. Perhaps one day, his Magic Book would become a classic in the eyes of future mages. But if the price was leaving his friends to endure a world of hardship without intervention? Lynch would never make such a deal.
So now he had transformed into the appearance of an elf, standing on one side of the circular arena, hiding behind another group of forest elves, listening to what everyone was discussing.
At first, people from various places only stated the threats posed by the Snake-men and various monsters, the destroyed farmlands and cities turned to ruins—these were things Lynch had heard before. There were some news he hadn't heard, such as the southern lord under threat of life, the missing Yim caravan, and the river that suddenly changed direction. Many suspected that the Snake-men and some creatures from the Underworld had allied to secretly build safe tunnel passages.
However, Barrend's speech drew the most attention. He was not only a leader who had faced the Snake-men forces head-on but also a miner who understood what tricks those guys had pulled underground. "Using some unknown evil methods, the Snake-men controlled a giant creature known as the Purple Worm; they rudely excavated tunnels underground, not cherishing those precious treasures and beautiful rocks at all!" Barrend said, "With such accomplices, anyone unguarded beneath their feet is shrouded in great danger. Your cities will not be safe, your houses will not be safe, and you will not gain safety," he said, looking at the other teams of dwarves, who were either his good friends or distant relatives. Barrend clenched his fists and said, "We should not let them defile the precious earth; it is our homeland. The only thing they should find there is their own grave!"
"Yes! You are right!" The dwarves of Gunn stood up, along with the tall and short dwarves of the Grey Stone Mountains and Anrasogang. They pounded their chests with their fists, supporting Barrend's speech.
"But what kind of weapons will you use against them?" Duke Mia of Haisas twirled his slender mustache and said coldly, "The Snake-men's skin may be tough, but it can't withstand the pounding of a thousand-pound mace. But what about those beasts? Those towering giants like mountains, whose footprints can conquer my castle; and those rhinos shrouded in poisonous smoke, which can easily turn flesh and blood into stone; not to mention those three-headed beasts flying in the sky, with lightning, flames, and frost attacking you simultaneously. My dwarven friends, I do not deny your determination and courage, but mere words cannot achieve victory."
"We need weapons and armor!" Yim's merchant leader Gude sighed. "For a long time, we have spent our energy on selling these precious magic equipment. Although we know well their wondrous properties, under the temptation of money we have sold them all. Yim itself does not have the capability to manufacture magic equipment. If the holy Pate in our north falls, we will only face those formidable enemies with ordinary swords and fists."
"The holy Pate will not fall." Wislin stood up and said, "My brothers and I will not give up even one more inch of land, unless the sun disappears forever, and conscience is extinguished along with it."
