Mage Legend

Chapter 634: Legendary and Legends in Legends Chapter Five Meeting (1)_3

But who can compete with the elves in the dense forest? Now is not the same as three years ago when the undead attacked. The elves have long since begun to enhance their combat strength, aiming at least to return to the level of power they had during the ancient war against demons. For instance, these Wind Steeds, though not as powerful as the legendary Dragon Knights, are strong enough to command the skies.

The All-Knowing Tower spent three days swiftly flying over the entire forest and anchored beside the Holy Land Heather. With Norton, the tireless helmsman, they could travel day and night, even faster at night. Since Lynch had activated the Element Barrier of the entire tower, a harmless mist enveloped the All-Knowing Tower, from afar appearing like a flaming cloud on the horizon. Thus, it served as an impressive demonstration for the other attendees. Now, the All-Knowing Tower was a cloud drifting in the northern skies of Holy Land Heather, uninfluenced by the wind and unaffected by melancholic rain. Each day it changed shapes, indeed inspiring much poetic sentiment among the elves.

Elves used large ships borne by Wind Steeds and giant Air Elements to safely transport the dwarves to the lakeside of Holy Land Heather. Only the important leaders attending the meeting could reside on that Holy Mountain, while others stayed on the opposite side of the lake. However, dwarf women and children were allowed a day's visit to Heather—though they often felt a day too short and were striving for a second day's opportunity.

Queen Hernfurry and her daughter awaited the Dwarf King's arrival by the lake. Certainly, they weren't the first guests nor would be the last messengers, but the two elf ladies welcomed each invited friend with warmth and friendliness. Barrend, like others, was bewildered when he saw the two ladies, then quickly remembered his manners and hurriedly bowed in salute.

Though dwarven etiquette favored a warm embrace, how could Barrend recklessly open his arms before such sacredly beautiful ladies? The Dwarf King was somewhat at a loss and forgot how he came to his assigned accommodation under the elves' guidance.

After the dwarves left the dock and ascended the steps of Heather Mountain, the Elf Queen and her daughter remained by the lakeside. Their accompanying elf guards gazed afar, yet no boat was ferrying on the lake. Were there more guests today? They hadn't received further notifications. They looked to Queen Hernfurry for answers, while the Elf Queen's gaze was fixed on her daughter Yilinrui.

"What do you see?" Hernfurry knew her daughter possessed extraordinary talents with keen senses, often noticing many signs of the future. Yet this time, Yilinrui shook her head, slowly turned to her mother, and said, "I don't know; I see nothing. But I know I want to wait here a while longer."

The Elf Queen sighed, which startled the elven guards. This sigh carried the sorrow of a thousand years, comprehensible to those who understood the language of trees and nature's essence. Even before the raging undead army, Queen Hernfurry never showed such sadness.

The Queen combed her daughter's hair a couple of times, gently advising before leaving: "Don't get too tired; the weather is turning cool, return early." Yilinrui nodded, pressing her lips without reply.

Her gaze fixed on the lake's center, where a black statue stood, five twisted fingers stretched out from the mirror-like surface, grasping hopelessly towards the unreachable sky. It was the last trace he left, the only tombstone commemorating him. Yilinrui had once dived into the lake several times trying to find Fyyian's body. But that powerful Necromancer was an expert in controlling all matters related to death, leaving nothing in this world.

So whenever Yilinrui saw that statue, she would blankly stare, lost in thought for a long while. Even after greeting the invited attendees, she would stand by the lake for a long time.

However, a shadow moved beside the statue, walking from one side of the water to the other. Due to the distance, she could only see the person was wearing red, unable to discern his face. At this thought, Yilinrui suddenly awoke; as an elf with superior instincts, who could foresee the future, how could she not make out his form? When did he arrive, how did he get to the statue, and what did he intend, all answers were tightly sealed from her.

The shadow was none other than Mage Lynch. He suddenly realized he had never understood how Fyyian, in his final moments, crafted this statue. Even with his mastery of "Creation Law," he couldn't complete such a piece so swiftly. Lynch was now gently touching the statue, feeling the icy pain through his fingertips, deducing the kind of spell required to achieve this "feat."

Such actions naturally aroused Yilinrui's suspicion. She cast a spell and stepped onto the lake surface. With no strong winds nearby and the lake calm, Yilinrui crossed the water with ease, as if skating.

The mage knew his actions had caught the elf's attention, yet wasn't his invisibility spell still active? He had never heard of any innate sight, aside from the Eye of Insight, that could see through invisibility, and apart from the "Floating on Water" spell, the approaching elf bore no other magic.

Lynch waved off his spell, gently floating before the elf—with his spiritual power, his movements had grown increasingly agile. He first nodded apologetically at the elf and then carefully surveyed her face.

With just one glance, Lynch was deeply shocked. This face so closely resembled the "goddess" he once saw in the Residual Star Swamp. If it weren't for the changed hair color and those eyes no longer pure white, he would have thought he was seeing that perfect female elf again.

"Sorry, miss. Did my presence here disturb you?" Lynch slightly bowed, saying, "I just wanted to understand the material of this statue; I won't cause any damage to it."

'He doesn't recognize me now.' This was Yilinrui's first thought. Before the undead war, her seal was lifted, altering her appearance and physique in ways Lynch hadn't known. After the battle, the Princess hadn't appeared publicly, not meeting Lynch or others. Not being recognized now was expected.

"Are you here for the conference as well?" Yilinrui extended her hand, allowing the mage to lightly kiss the back. She continued, "You seem like a mage. Has the guild already arrived?"

"Oh, I didn't come here with my guild colleagues; I'm a friend and advisor to that group of dwarves. If you may, just call me Wizde." Lynch used the name he once used to deceive the serpent. Concealing his identity before such a beautiful elf maiden was a torment.

"Hello, in any case, welcome to Heather." Yilinrui softly said, "My name is Cerinsan. Could you tell me how a human mage becomes friends with dwarves? I'd love to hear stories from outside."
