Chapter 550: Travel and Travel Beyond Chapter Fifty-Six The Tower
I have witnessed almost all the treasures on the Anriel Continent, those Dragon City Treasure Vaults amidst towering mountains, and the ancient cities buried deep beneath the ocean. Whether such collections are from humans, from gods, or even from the Devils in people's hearts, I have seen them all. But among them, only two gifts have left an unforgettable impression on me for life.
The fleeting travelers on the Anriel Continent have given me many names, perhaps calling me "All-knowing Tower King," or "the One who Overlooks the World." These titles have been sung in various different languages, and even if you ask young children, there's a chance they've heard these legends. I have been depicted hiding in the dark corners of a dungeon, peering at the world with a pair of red bloody eyes, and I've also been depicted standing at the top of a white spire casting light symbolizing purity. No matter which form of art I appear in, there will inevitably be a towering majestic city illustrated behind me.
That is the All-Knowing Tower, the place where I later resided.
In different people's eyes, this tower takes on different shapes, yet invariably aligns with their consistent aesthetic views. In the impression of dragons, it is a warm and cozy cave, with soft Gold Coin and gemstone dunes spread across the ground; in the heart of Devils, it perhaps is a gloomy gray-black world, with red lightning flashing continuously overhead. To this day, I still do not understand the reason for these changes, yet in my eyes, it is a library, a quiet place for my research.
There are thousands upon thousands of books here, many even come from worlds beyond Anriel. Perhaps before me, this ownerless All-Knowing Tower has traveled across the Multi-Universe, witnessing countless places. I do not know since when it began to exist, nor do I know why it eventually settled in the interior of the Ridge Mountains, but I still vividly remember the feeling when I first held the gray Crystal Ball.
A chaotic scene of war appeared in my mind, a fight that happened because of an idea. My predecessor left fragments of his final consciousness, informing me that he wanted to conduct an experiment. The predecessor was intent on finding his most perfect form, thus he located different races in various places. Initially, each race felt the tower was their home and could live happily here, but subsequently, the predecessor ceased this ability of the tower, declaring that only one kind of creature could find a home here.
Whether those intending to win the war or those wishing to escape it, those trying to stop the war, and those watching coldly trying to take advantage, all were eventually drawn into this mutual slaughter. No matter how good the intentions, they all took on the stench of rot and blood in front of the butcher's knife. When this place calmed down, the only creatures left were the Rock Spirits. In their minds, the concept of war simply did not exist, they were unaffected by the Tower Master's influence, inconspicuous yet continuing to perform their daily tasks, thus surviving.
Thus, my predecessor transformed himself into a Rock Spirit and disappeared three thousand years ago in the Magma pool at the bottom of the All-Knowing Tower.
I took over here, and as long as I live, I shall forever control this place. During the various conflicts afterward, amidst the wars that engulfed the entire continent, I was always a Rock Spirit. I possess power, and the strong ones on the continent respect me, but I know that only by being like the Rock Spirits can one survive.
This is one of the best gifts I have received.
——Lynch.
............
When Lynch placed his hand on the Crystal Ball, the image of the entire castle appeared in his mind. The previous manager of this place had clearly left enough information to enable later Mages to easily control everything here.
The entire All-Knowing Tower is actually more like a giant city, and it can be completely self-sufficient. The whole city is built on solid ground, where the rocks and soil can sustain any plant's healthy growth; beneath the rock layers churns boiling Magma, its flames continuously supplying heat to the upper parts, maintaining a constant climate here; a massive waterfall falls from half the height of the entire city, which is precisely the height of Lynch's current room, and all the rain, snow, frost, and mist here come from an endless supply of water vapor; meanwhile, a strong gust of wind circles the entire city year-round, shrouded in clouds and mist, with only a few specific directions from which one can find the way in.
