Xavier and Mia looked up at the same time and saw what appeared to be a flame breathing dragon, dragons haven't been seen for hundreds of years.

The goblins charging towards them held tiny dagger and their eyes were pitch black and they were foaming from their mouths as they charged forward.

Even though it was nighttime some crystals were hunged which gave light to the streets, immediately they saw the goblins both of them took a deep breath their hands gripping their swords tightly.

Sonn two goblins turned into five goblins charging at them with foam dripping from their mouths and eyes as dark as pitch.

These goblins looked fiercer and stronger than usual, as they scream charging towards the two of them.

Xavier moved first, meeting the first goblin head-on. It swung its club wildly, but Xavier sidestepped, delivering a precise slash across its chest.

Even if it was different l, it was still an unintelligent beast, and the weakest of all.

The goblin staggered back, collapsing with a guttural snarl. Another goblin came from his left, but he pivoted, blocking its attack and countering with a powerful strike that brought it to the ground.

Mia took on the next two goblins, her sword raised and ready. As one goblin charged, she sidestepped and swung her blade in a smooth arc, slicing through its defenses.

The creature stumbled, and before it could recover, Mia thrust her sword forward, ending it.

The second goblin lunged with a snarl, its jagged knife aimed at her, but she blocked its attack and countered with a swift, downward strike, finishing it in one fluid motion.

The final goblin turned toward them, its black eyes gleaming with rage. Without hesitation, Xavier and Mia closed in together.

Xavier struck first, weakening it with a clean slice, and Mia followed up with a precise slash that brought the creature down.

"We just saw a dragon right?" Mia asked.

"Well it was flying and breathing fire so I think it's a dragon" Xavier responded.

"You can't possibly just go around killing beasts, we'll get tired, and we're fully trained to handle stronger beasts in groups" Mia spoke.

"That wasn't my plan, I'm going home, to my house, with the city like this the beasts must have dropped from the sky because there's no way they would get through the city defense that easily"

"That's true, but isn't your father powerful, I'm sure your family would be okay"

"My dad would be in the front lines for this, they is if he's in th capital, I still need to check, you can stay back if you want" Xavier spoke as he ran forward.

"You really think I'll stay back after this, and did you notice something, the goblins eyes and mouth, all five of them?"

"I did, but I've never seen a goblin so apart from pictures I don't really know how they are supposed to look like, but that seemed unnatural" Xavier replied as both of them ran forward.

"It's quite far on foot, let's pick up the pace" Xavier spoke but Mia stopped him and dragged him towards a building.

"There's something there right?" Xavier asked and Mia nodded as they turn to peek, a large minotaur was walking down the streets.

Something was definitely wrong, they were quite far from the gate but a minotaur was here, how did something this big get passed all the soldiers, unless it didn't, it was summon or brought here through a portal.

"There's someone in the capital bringing beasts here through a portal"

"That would explain this...we are going towards your home, we are not looking for anyone" Mia spoke immediately she saw the look on Xavier's face.

"Do you think I'm trying to get myself killed, I just..." Xavier took a deep breath as the minotaur moved away from where they were but they could still see it.

The heard a roar from the minotaur and quickly looked in it's direction as it crashed to the ground.

"A royal knight, we can..."

Before Mia could finish her sentence the knight was already in front of them, the figure was towering and fully covered in armour.

"What are you kids doing here?" The voice spoke, it sounded neither male nor female, and they were just called kids.

"We're trying to get somewhere, but we think there's someone summoning beasts in the city, you have to find..."

"We already noticed, it's not safe here, I'll get you two to safety"

"Don't worry, we're heading somewhere" Xavier spoke as he stood up and walked away with Mia following behind.

The knight saw them with swords and immediately dashed away, both of them reached a part of the street that was particularly quiet, all the doors were locked and everyone was inside but they were no beasts around here since the knights had passed through this area so they kept going forward till Mia stopped.

"What's wrong?" Xavier asked.

"There's someone over there, moving, it's a beast, a wolf I think the knight must have missed it, let's go after it" Mia spoke after it and Xavier followed.

"It stopped" Mia spoke.

They passed through an alley to reach the other side of the street where they saw a girl standing there staring at them like she knew they were coming.

"It's not a wolf, it's a beastkin" Xavier spoke.

The girl in front of them was like a human but she had long wolf ears, a tail and her body was covered in fur.

"How did you sense me, I'm not producing even an ounce of Mana, you must be really good at Mana detection" the girl spoke with a smile, it was the same girl in the other battlefield earlier.

"I didn't sense you, I heard your sounds, you were running on all fours" Mia muttered as she backed away slowly.

Xavier knew the person in front of them was powerful, obviously since she was a beastkin but how powerful, Xavier couldn't sense anything from her.

"You heard me, running on all fours, wait...you picked up my sound before I picked up yours, how is that possible, you're human right?"

"I am, and you are part of the people who attacked the capital?" Mia asked.

"Yes, we've been planning for years and gathering an alliance, but today seems like a good day, you know know moving backwards little by little won't help you get away" the girl spoke.

"Xavier, we can't win against her, there's no chance where that happens, and none of us can actually use spells, and we can't escape" Mia spoke breathing heavily.

"Don't worry, I'll make it quick, I would smash your head in split second, you won't feel pain" the girl spoke as she began walking towards them.

Xavier activated his skill immediately, he couldn't afford to test the person in front of him, even though she was as small as Mia, Xavier knew in his mind her battle prowess would be off the charts.

"We're not going to die" Xavier muttered to Mia.

"Did you really think I'm planning on dying, admitting you're weak in front of an enemy is also a way to catch them off guard, let's work together" Mia mutter as both of them held their sword tightly.

"I love fighters but I have a job to do so I can't bother myself with both of you" the girl spoke as she got on all fours.

The next moment was instantaneous, the girl was in front of them, so dashed forward so quick Mia couldn't react but as she swung her claws towards Mia Xavier had also swung his sword.

The girl simply stopped and backed away and Xavier slashed the air, Mia gasped and stumbled backwards, if it wasn't for Xavier she would have died just now.

"Ohh, how did you know I was going for the girl, I wasn't planning to kill you really but I changed my mind" she spoke again and dashed forward.

Immediately she vanished from their sight, her speed earlier was a joke compared to her actually speed as both Mia and Xavier felt a hand touching them from behind.

'Shit...why the hell did we come against a boss at this early stage, the goddess isn't going to consider reincarnating me again'

*BOOM!!*

The hand touching both of them moved away and a loud book followed with a small house getting destroyed.

"Young Master, what are you doing here?" A familiar voice asked.

"Lilith" Xavier spoke as he turned around and let out a sigh of relief.

"You know her?" Mia asked immediately backing away.

"Yes, she's a...what about our house, why aren't you there?" Xavier asked.

"Oh, don't worry, a royal knight was stationed there so I was given a free pass to protect the surroundings area, who was that and what are you..."

A loud sound followed as the girl stood up from under the rubble, she held her face and spit a small amount of blood.

"You survived that, you must be powerful" Lilith spoke with a smile.
