Chapter 159: Questioning
While Nancy was feeling melancholy, Luis directly drank the remaining wine at the bottom of the glass, set the glass down, and said angrily, "That's right, I am a live-in son-in-law, so what if I'm the one who married into the family?"
"I am true to my conscience. I bought jewelry worth several thousand dollars just because I said I would. You ask Mom if she's happy."
"Today I bought some for our little sister too. You ask her if she felt good showing off to her classmates. I spent the money precisely because I didn't want her to feel slighted."
"And I still need to explain myself to you? Why should I explain myself to you? Weren't you the one who married a rich second-generation and looks down on me every single day?"
As Luis spoke, he had already stood up and went straight to pay the bill. After settling the bill, he headed directly towards home. Nancy was momentarily stunned, then quickly followed him, chasing after him and saying,
"Stop acting drunk and crazy. I was just talking to you."
"Yes, I'm acting drunk and crazy. Good night, big sister."
Luis didn't even glance at her. After returning home, he lay down on the sofa, stretched lazily, and prepared to sleep.
This was the first time Luis had spoken to Nancy like this, leaving her feeling somewhat at a loss. She stood to the side, her face full of confusion.
Luis yawned, curled up under the blanket, and got ready to sleep properly. He casually turned off the TV and the lights. Nancy gritted her teeth and said, "Don't sleep yet. I have something to discuss with you."
"Whatever it is, let's talk about it tomorrow."
Luis was in a bad mood now and certainly wasn't going to indulge her.
"Get up!"
Nancy's temper flared immediately. Even though their mother and younger sister were already asleep in the house, she lowered her voice but still grabbed and yanked Luis's blanket off.
Luis looked at her coldly. "Big sister, that's just about enough. How angry you are after arguing with your husband is your own business, but don't take it out on me every time you come back to your parents' house. I'm not in the mood to put up with your anger."
"I'm not your husband, what right do you have to control me? Besides, with all that, you can't even keep Daniel in check, yet you want to ride roughshod over me? You're dreaming."
Nancy looked around nervously, and only relaxed when she confirmed no one had been woken up by the noise.
Luis understood the situation perfectly clearly. She needed 20,000 dollars tomorrow, or even over 20,000 dollars including interest, just to save face.
Borrowing from her mother-in-law was out of the question, she wouldn't have that kind of money. Asking her former classmates was even more like a fantasy.
He was her only hope. To avoid losing face in front of her in-laws, she absolutely had to ask him.
But this elder sister-in-law's personality was even more overbearing than his mother-in-law's had been before. She was domineering, controlling, and insisted on having some leverage over you, acting as if she wasn't the one begging for a favor. She was both stubborn and ridiculously entitled.
Give her an inch, and if you lent her money, she'd still treat you like dirt.
Borrowing money yet acting self-righteous, as if it were some kind of favor to you. With a personality like that, any family would be infuriated to have such a relative.
"Luis, do I really have to go and tell Lily about this?"
As Nancy said this, she already felt a bit guilty.
"Go ahead and tell her! How many times is this now?"
"You think you can threaten me like this? Hah, even if I really get divorced, I'll still live a comfortable life."
Luis stretched lazily and said nonchalantly, "You can even tell your mother while you're at it. I don't care. I'm going to sleep!"
After saying that, Luis curled up under the blanket and lay down, turning his head away as if to sleep immediately.
Seeing this, Nancy grew even angrier. She came over and pulled his blanket off again, saying, "Explain yourself clearly. You're not sleeping until you've made things clear."
This was truly shrewish behavior, properly inherited. This only made Luis more irritated. He rolled over to face her and said coldly,
"What isn't clear? You're nothing."
Luis rubbed his head and sat up, then lit a cigarette and gave her a push, saying angrily, "I'm the live-in son-in-law, you can think whatever you want. Are you here to flaunt your authority now?"
"What have you ever done to support your parents' family? It's just you and Daniel bragging all day long. What money have you actually spent?"
"Never mind how filial you are or aren't. I bought a bag for our little sister and a bracelet for Mom, and you still have a problem with it? Where do you get the confidence?!"
Nancy was somewhat stunned by this question. Luis held back no punches. He took a drag of his cigarette and looked at her with a sneer.
"Mom had a disagreement with those bitches at the teahouse, so I spent several thousand dollars without a second thought to buy her jewelry. It was the same when Lily had issues at work, I bought something for her too."
"I know our little sister is still a student and shouldn't spend money recklessly, but when she's being bullied and mocked, I can't let her suffer that indignity."
"So I'm the live-in son-in-law, so what? Am I as wealthy as your precious Daniel?"
Luis's tone became increasingly arrogant. "I have money, unlike that useless piece of trash in your family who only knows how to talk big."
The more Nancy listened, the more she frowned. She said stubbornly, "Brother-in-law, there's no need for you to speak so harshly."
"My actions can be harsher than my words."
Luis rapped his knuckles on the table. "I can spend money on a car worth a hundred thousand dollars. She's your own biological mother. It's not your place to come here and spout nonsense."
Just as he was speaking, the door to the master bedroom suddenly opened.
Ruth came out, looking worried. "What are you two doing? Arguing all night like this. Don't make Lily worry."
As a mother, she was being very responsible now. Nancy didn't know what to say. She let out a sigh, suddenly feeling that she herself had been excessively harsh.
Luis thought for a moment and said, "Mom, big sister and I weren't arguing. We were just discussing your gift."
Ruth was no fool. She had listened for a good while before opening the door. She spoke cautiously because she felt her son-in-law's words made sense.
If anyone was acting drunk and crazy, it was her eldest daughter. You, the elder sister-in-law, have your own family now, why are you meddling in so many things? And after all that talking, you still haven't gotten to the point.
"Nancy, haven't you caused enough trouble?"
Ruth looked at her coldly and said, "No matter who you're angry with, you are not to vent it randomly at home. You've managed to anger even our son-in-law, who has such a good temper. What exactly are you trying to achieve by making such a scene in the middle of the night?"
"I'm going to bed!"
Nancy didn't want to argue with her mother. She gritted her teeth and went upstairs.
Ruth felt her way over in the dark and sat down on the sofa. Her voluptuous body was incredibly alluring in the blackness, especially the way her ample bosom swayed temptingly as she walked over.
All sleepiness left Luis in an instant. He sat up, pulled his mother-in-law into an embrace, and kissed her.
Ruth glanced anxiously towards the staircase, then closed her eyes. Her soft, fragrant tongue met her son-in-law's teasing, engaging in a fierce, passionate dance in the air.
The mother-in-law's large, melon-like breasts held a natural, irresistible attraction for Luis. The moment their lips met, his hand uncontrollably slipped inside her collar, grasping her full, heavy breast and kneading it.
"Mom, it's alright. You should go to bed soon."
Worried that Nancy might come back downstairs, Luis, though yearning for his mother-in-law's body, fondled her for a short while before letting her go.
Even though he had already vented his desires twice on Chloe that evening, Luis was still hard as iron and highly aroused. It seemed that with the enhancement of his physical attributes, even his libido had become more ferocious.
Just as Luis lit a cigarette, a message came from Nancy: "What were you and Mom doing hugging each other?"
Luis was slightly startled. Had she been peeking from the staircase? But he remained composed. After all, they hadn't taken their clothes off or done anything excessively explicit.
With her hysterical, unforgiving character, if she had truly seen something compromising, her tone wouldn't be this calm. It would undoubtedly be aggressive and designed to make him suffer.
"Get your eyes checked when you have the time. Us sitting together somehow became 'hugging each other' in your view. Why don't you just say I fucked Mom on the sofa? That would be even more absurd."
The living room lights were completely off, and the curtains were drawn, plunging the space into utter darkness. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say one couldn't see their own hand in front of their face.
Spying from such a distant spot near the staircase, how could anyone possibly see clearly? Unless one had night vision goggles or a thermal imager, making out a mere silhouette or some movement was the best one could hope for.
