Chapter 177: Informing Quin Xuxu
"Yes, I'm sure," Leon responded with a smile; he continued to rub Fengxu's hair to cheer her up, a warm smile glued to his face the entire time.
Only then did Fengxu calm down and her expression improved.
"That's a relief, I thought you didn't want to see me anymore." She said softly while hugging Leon's waist and rubbing her face on his stomach.
Leon rolled his eyes and said inwardly, 'Why would you even think that?'. Of course, he wouldn't question her out loud.
"That will never happen, I promise," Leon said to her.
After a while of sharing an intimate hug, the two finally pulled away from each other. Fengxu immediately held Leon's hand and pulled him in the direction of the tunnel that she had come from.
"Come, come, the others are waiting for you!" She explained with excitement.
Leon was puzzled and asked what she meant but still followed her, Fengxu led him into the tunnel while explaining.
It turns out that after the ground collapsed and everyone sank into this place, Fengxu, Quin Xuxu, and some disciples found themselves in the same chamber.
They quickly killed the spiders that had fallen with them before beginning to explore the place. Thanks to Fengxu's impressive sense of smell and Quin Xuxu's wide sensing range, they were able to locate more members of the sect quickly; they even found Bai Quing and Lin Shuran after just a few minutes of roaming the place.
While they kept searching, they encountered some strange people who were not part of the sect and had captured them. Quin Xuxu was about to interrogate them when Fengxu picked up Leon's scent and immediately ran off without telling anyone.
Leon "..."
He discreetly raised his arm and sniffed himself, he couldn't smell anything aside from the smell of spider blood.
Again, he was confused about the 'scent' that Fengxu was always talking about. This wasn't her first time finding him with it and she wasn't the only one who had traced him with his scent either.
'Must really be something that only fox beasts have,' he concluded in his thoughts.
They continued chatting while walking through the tunnel. After a while, they finally arrived at the chamber where Quin Xuxu and the others were.
"Leon!" An excited Quin Xuxu immediately called out but restrained herself from reacting too strongly. There were disciples here as well, and it wouldn't be good for her image.
"I'm glad you're safe." Bai Quing said from the side with a warm smile on her face.
Leon returned a sweet smile to the both of them.
"Thanks, I'm happy that you're all safe too." He expressed that before going to join the disciples, they always expressed their joy in his return.
After staying underground for just a while, they could understand that the dangers down here were no less than the surface; many of them would have died if not for the sect mistress and grand elder to be with them.
"I'm happy that you came back safely, my lord." Lin Shuran managed to get close to Leon without being noticed and whispered into his ear.
Leon felt a wave of hotness wash through his body and immediately turned back to look, but Lin Shuran had already moved away; the woman was now at the back of the line of disciples. She threw him a provocative wink while seductively biting on her lower lips.
"Leon,"
Only when his name was called did he look away; Leon saw Quin Xuxu approaching him while keeping a paper that looked like a map in her storage ring; the map disappeared into thin air in front of his eyes, but he knew that she had only stored it away.
"Master," Leon cupped his hands at her after Quin Xuxu stopped in front of him.
Quin Xuxu looked at him with a gentle look, her eyes filled with overwhelming concern and relief.
"You must have landed very far away since I couldn't even sense you with my Shi, did you encounter anything?" She asked.
Leon then recounted what had happened after they sank. Everyone was left in awe after he finished speaking.
"A spider queen?" Bai Quing asked with surprise in her eyes.
Leon nodded, confirming her words.

"It must have been a young one then, that's a good thing; older ones are incredibly difficult to deal with." She said with a sigh. Leon just stood there without saying anything.
Meanwhile, the disciples were feeling impressed. While Leon was reporting what had happened after they sank, he obviously highlighted the parts where he had perfumed well.
'This beat,' Quin Xuxu shook her head with a helpless smile but didn't stop him.
"Let's go find the remaining disciples and then leave immediately." Bai Quing called out.
Leon faced her and asked if she knew the place.
"No, but we have an idea of what it is and also obtained a map." She replied while looking to the side, Leon also looked in the same direction.
Only now did he notice the corpse that was lying on the ground; the face was terribly covered in blood, so Leon couldn't tell their gender.
"Who's that?" He asked. This corpse was wearing a strange red robe which obviously didn't belong to any of the tent sects or the army.
"He's a member of a cult, the midnight plain, and this is their underground base; he took his own life while I was interrogating him." Quin Xuxu was the one who answered.
Leon looked at her in astonishment, he didn't expect them to find out so quickly.
"The midnight plain? This is their base?" Leon asked out loud, pretending to be shocked.
"Yes, but why your reaction?" Quin Xuxu asked with an eyebrow.
Leon then dropped a story that after he was separated from the other disciples, he encountered some people who were talking about puppet warriors and attacking the Cloud Dew Dynasty.
"I'm guessing that they must be members of the midnight plain too, I didn't engage them since there were many of them," Leon added.
The faces of Quin Xuxu and Bai Quing turned serious.
They had already guessed that the midnight plain had something to do with the war after finding their member here; Leon's words just made them more confident of their guess.
"Puppet warriors," Quin Xuxu mumbled under her breath with a cold glint in her eyes, it was as if she was about to jump into battle.
" If what Leon's saying is true, then we have to look for the other disciples and leave as soon as possible!" Bai Quing said with a tone of urgency.
"Mm, you're right." Quin Xuxu nodded before closing her eyes and sending her Shi in all directions. Fengxu also began to sniff the air.
Almost at the same time, both of them pointed in the same direction.
"Over there!"
"There are people in that direction."
Both of them said almost at the same time and without another word spoken, Bai Quing led everyone in that direction.
….
Minutes later, they had crossed hundreds of meters and had only found a few disciples. Quin Xuxu and Fengxu could still find the rest so they were not walking blind at least.
The ground arrived at a large chamber after walking for more than twenty minutes.
"What are those?" A disciple called out while pointing to the side.
Everyone looked over and saw zombie-like corpses on the other side of the chamber. Some people revealed frightened expressions, while others showed anger on their faces; they recognised the armours of these corpses; they were soldiers of the Cloud Dew Dynasty.
The group approached the corpses. The corpses looked dried up, and their eyes were hollow; they all died with twisted expressions, which was a sign that they had suffered a great deal of pain before death.
Aside from that…
"They are empty," Quin Xuxu mumbled with chilling coldness in her eyes.
Bai Quing, Lin Shuran, and some of the disciples and elders looked at her in disbelief. They immediately sent wisps of Shi into the corpses, and their eyes flashed with shock after realising that Quin Xuxu had told the truth: these corpses were really empty!
Not a single wisp of energy could be found in them, which was very odd.
Judging from their armour, they were definitely martial artists of the Cloud Dew Dynasty's imperial army. They should have some bits of Shi left in them which would be proof of their strength when they were still alive.
But these corpses were like empty shells as if someone had sucked all the Shi out of them.
"These must be the soldiers who had been reported to have gone missing, this must be the doing of the midnight plain." Bai Quing stated after observing the faces of the soldiers for a while more.
"Mm, you're right. They must have taken their energy to create the puppet warriors that Leon talked about, those despicable bastards; this was why the dynasty tried to erase them back then, their methods are too cruel." Quin Xuxu muttered.
"Let's go, we'll return quickly and report this; this information could change the course of the war." She added after a brief pause.
