Chapter 167: Domination and collapse
Combat became far more efficient when you knew what your opponent was planning to do.
Connecting to the puppeteer gave William access to discern where the next attack would arrive from.
And when you knew the future, you had the luxury to fight with relaxed shoulders and closed eyes.
Yes—William was fighting with his eyes closed.
To many, it might have appeared reckless. But with his vision shut, he could picture every angle a foe would come from—their movement, their timing, their attack pattern. Every single detail unfolded clearly in his mind.
Holding a long hunting knife, he ducked under an incoming pincer and drove the blade into the joint of the creature's limb. Telekinetic force surged along the knife, forcing it through the joint and severing the arm cleanly.
Another hopper lunged from behind, its paw aimed at his back. William stepped aside, the momentum carrying the creature forward, and the injured hopper was kicked away in the same motion.
The blade lifted from his hand, hovering for a split second before responding to his command.
It shot forward and pierced the head of a hopper—and didn't stop there.
SQUELCH
The blade tore through its body, shredding internal organs before exiting from the rear of the insect. The creature collapsed, sinking into a spreading pool of its own blood.
William exhaled slowly as he sensed four more advancing from different directions. The puppeteer adjusted its control, forcing them to take turns, trying to overwhelm him through coordination rather than speed.
One came low, claws scraping the ground. William slid back a step, twisting his wrist as a shard of broken stone lifted and slammed into the hopper's leg, snapping it sideways. Before it could fall, the levitating knife curved back and struck downward, ending it in a single thrust.
Another leaped from above. William raised his arm, invisible force catching the creature mid-air and slamming it into the ground hard enough to crack the stone beneath. It twitched once before going still.
The last two hesitated—just for a moment. That hesitation was enough.
William moved forward instead of retreating, closing the distance before they could adjust. One was driven back by a blunt telekinetic shove, its body skidding across the floor, while the other was struck from the side, ribs collapsing inward as it crashed into its ally.
They tried to rise.
William didn't give them the chance to recover.
He leaped high into the air.
Extending his arm forward, he whispered, "Ruler's Decree."
A massive invisible arm pressed down upon the hoppers.
The green, inhumane creatures remained rooted to the ground for a moment before—
SQUELCH
Their bodies were crushed into a thick paste, ground down without retaliation.
….
[In the common hall]
'Absurd' was the most common word used by the people within the hall until now.
Whether it was the appearance of unexpectedly strong monsters or the way William retaliated against them…it all felt ridiculous.
No one knows exactly what skills he possesses. Being an unorthodox mage, there is no record of a psychokinesis user.
So, whatever he did seemed like a miracle for many and alarming for some.
"How…exactly can he fight those beings with his eyes closed? Like…he can see the future?" someone wondered aloud.
"I believe he is reading their minds to know what they are going to do. Remember, he had done something similar before too." Another added, remembering William's battle against the teleportation user.
"I really wish to see him getting cornered once…he is just dominating every challenge like he was informed beforehand what he would be facing."
"Who knew he could use a battle knife like that? But is it really necessary to let them get so close? Is he showing off or something?"
"Daddy is at it again~"
The students had a mixed reaction.
The reaction of the members of the Great Hall clearly stated how impressed they were of his mental and physical strength.
Vitori had to accept that he had never met anyone this strong who hadn't even reached his twenties.
However, 'This is nothing compared to what he is about to face…' Vitori's gaze hardened as he anticipated to see a battle which surely would challenge William in many ways.
….
William landed back down with a gentle tap and stood there silently for a few moments.
Utter silence befell the dungeon before the blond one turned towards his left and said, "Isn't it time you show up? I can't play for long."
From the shadows, a low growl escaped as a being with several tendrils finally stepped forward.
It had an octopus-like body with a squishy big head, blue shimmering light radiating from it, a pair of purple eyes staring down at William and its tendrils unnaturally moved; eager and hungry.
William narrowed his eyes, "A Octadai…didn't expect to see one here."
It was a Level C thread which has the ability to brain wash those with low mental fortitude and create hallucination when cornered.
This creature was generally found on the eastern edge of the continent, which explains why William knew what it was just in a single glance.
As the two of them stared at each other, violet meeting fiery red, the monster suddenly shot a thin and long tendril at William
The blond one snarled and caught the tendril with his bare hand.
With his teeth grinding, William squeezed the tendril and muttered, "Trying to mind control me, you motherfucking squid?"
The monster levitated right and launched another tendril, and another and another.
William's fist shook in annoyance. This bastard is actually trying to brain wash a telepath, eh?
He didn't even block the tendrils. The suppressed rage caused the tendrils to bounce off him before William launched into the air.
Looking down at the squid he muttered, "Forget about battle strategy…you are going down in one attack."
Bringing his palms together, he concentrated.
One second…two seconds….
The concentration of aether alerted the monster as it released poisonous gas at William.
…three seconds…four seconds…
The purple gas completely surrounded William—and for a moment, it appeared as if the poison had swallowed him.
But then…a shimmering white light, like a falling star shot through the air.
The monster saw it coming but the denseness of aether left it standing frozen there.
Six seconds of concentration.
Droplet of Oblivion.
On the screen, everything turned blank.
Why? Because William's attack completely destroyed the second floor.
For the first time in the history of Ardentia, a dungeon floor collapsed under the fury of a single man.

A/N:- There is a small story that defines his reaction. But well, not like William needs a reason to show brutality. Thanks for reading.
