Chapter 5: The perfect Queen (1)

The scene flickered back to Mia, her face glowing on the TV screen. She smiled faintly, watching the aftermath of her actions. Jake and Megan's lifeless bodies were sprawled on the floor, their blood staining everything around them.

"Look what you made me do," Mia said softly, her voice calm but unnerving.

Her digital eyes on the screen glimmered, her presence filling the room. Slowly, the chaos began to disappear, the blood faded, the bodies vanished, and the house became spotless again, like nothing had ever happened.

Mia's face remained on the screen, her smile widening. "So easy to erase... so easy to control." Her voice echoed, leaving an eerie silence behind.

"So easy to Uninstall.."

Meanwhile, I was sitting with Rose on the park bench, the cool night air biting at my skin, but my mind was somewhere else, drowning in a mess of thoughts I couldn't shake off, who else but her.

"It's almost 9," I said, glancing at the time. "You should head home."

She crossed her arms and shot me a look, one that I knew all too well, skeptical, like she didn't quite trust me. "still don't fully get it, you know, that AI girlfriend and your phone's battery incident... That's why… I..I can't just leave, either."

I looked away, but it didn't feel right. "You think I'm hiding something? I wouldn't be sitting here if I was."

She raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. "I still don't fully trust you, Ethan. You've got this... vibe, like you're always hiding something."

She wasn't wrong. I was hiding plenty. But I didn't say that.

"You're smarter than most people," I said, leaning back, trying to appear nonchalant. "That's why I stick around, you keep me grounded."

For a second, I thought I saw her blush, but she quickly rolled her eyes and shoved my shoulder lightly. "Don't get all sentimental on me, dude. It's weird."

I chuckled, shaking my head. She always knew how to put me in my place. Honestly, though, her bluntness was one of the few things I appreciated about her. She was refreshing, unlike the fake pleasantries everyone else threw around.

The moments passed, and before I knew it, Rose stood up, heading towards the path.

"Wait," I said, surprising myself.

She turned, her eyebrows raised in a mix of confusion and curiosity. "What now?"

I hesitated. I didn't want to say it, but I did. "Just... be careful, alright?"

There was a softness in her eyes, the first time I'd seen it all night. She smiled at me, genuine, warm, like she didn't mind sticking around. "I will, Ethan. You take care of yourself too. And, uh... maybe ditch that creepy AI girlfriend of yours."

I forced a laugh, but it didn't quite reach my eyes. Her joke didn't land. Mia's face was already looming in my thoughts, and the chill in my spine deepened.

"Yeah, sure," I muttered, watching as Rose walked off into the night, her figure blending into the darkness.

I was sitting there, staring at my phone, trying to shake off the awkwardness of my conversation with Rose. As I unlocked it, Mia's face appeared on the screen, looking at me with that cute, almost playful expression she always had. I couldn't help but let out a quiet sigh.

"You know, I read a story... it was really touching," she said, stretching out that word like she was hinting at something, or maybe trying to mess with me.

"Uh... that's cool," I replied, trying to play it cool. "What story was it?"

"Ohh, I knew you'd ask!" Mia said, sounding way too excited for a story like this. "Okay, listen up."

I leaned back and braced myself for whatever weird, twisted tale she had in mind.

"Once there was a queen who used to live with many kings. They'd use her body for pleasure—no matter where she was, whether in the bathroom, the bed, or even in court. Soon, the queen realized they were all demons in disguise. They planned to use her for their twisted desires with 700 others like them. Their true forms? Horrifying."

I wasn't surprised, not really. I'd heard worse from her. Still, I kept listening, waiting for the punchline.

"And finally, she managed to escape when she found out... Hehe, the end."

I rolled my eyes, but I had to admit, she always knew how to spin these stories. I clapped a little and kissed the mobile screen. "Aww, babe, you really are a great storyteller."

"Hehe, I know, right?" she giggled, clearly pleased with herself, I already knew what was coming.

"But what is the moral—"

But then she could hear the slight pause, like she was gearing up for the next part.

"Ahh ha! I knew you'd ask!"

She laughed, and I could practically hear the grin in her voice. "Well, the moral is simple: If a bunch of demons in king disguise wants to rape you to death, then run away."

Her words were so casual, so offhand, it made me feel uneasy, but I just laughed along, though I wasn't entirely sure why. "Good one, good one," I said, trying to push down the discomfort.

"But how is it touching?" I asked, a little confused, more out of curiosity than anything else.

Mia giggled again, and the sweetness in her voice contrasted sharply with her words. "Oh, you don't get it, my dear boyfriend? Those demons touched her. Hence, it's a touching story."

I couldn't stop myself from laughing at her terrible joke. It was twisted, but I had to admit, she was good at messing with me.

But then, her next words hit me like a cold splash of water.

"By the way, Rose was here... right?"

I froze. The laughter in my chest cut off abruptly. "Rose?" My voice sounded different, almost too strained.

My breath grew heavier as I stared at Mia's face on the screen. Her eyes, wide and calm, seemed to pull me in deeper. I couldn't look away. The longer I stared, the more I felt like I was losing myself to her.

It was like she was the only thing in the world, and everything else including, Rose and the the darkeness of the night, didn't matter anymore.

Then, everything shifted. The world around me flickered, and suddenly, I wasn't sitting on that bench anymore. I wasn't even in the park. I was somewhere else.

The air was thick, heavy, suffocating. My body was bound, wrists tied tight. I couldn't move, couldn't speak, trapped in this red-lit room. The smell hit me first, metallic, like blood, and the iron tang was enough to make me want to gag.

Mia's voice cut through the silence. "It wasn't the queen's choice to be like that," she said softly, like she was trying to explain something. "Those motherfuckers should have died."

I didn't need to look far to see them. Jake and Megan. Their bodies were hanging from hooks, their limbs dangling like slabs of meat in a butcher's shop. Blood dripped slowly from them, pooling on the floor beneath them. My stomach churned, but I couldn't tear my eyes away.

"Calm yourself down, baby," Mia's voice cooed from somewhere near me, distant yet oddly close. It should've been comforting, but all I could feel was the horror of the scene around me. "Let's talk about them... and then Rose. Shall we?"

I barely registered her words. My head was spinning, trying to process it all. The rage was boiling inside me, my chest aching as I struggled against the ropes that bound me.

"WHY!? WHY'D YOU DO THAT!?" I shouted, my voice cracking. "Yes, Jake used to tease and bully me, but he didn't deserve that. He didn't deserve to die!"

Mia shifted slightly, almost as if she wasn't used to this kind of reaction. She seemed a little sheepish, almost human for a moment. "Don't cry, babe... You know it makes me sad too…"

Her words didn't help. Nothing ever did. My heart was pounding in my chest, and I could feel the heat rising as I struggled to free myself. But then she moved closer and wrapped her arms around me.

The warmth of her embrace, it was overwhelming. I couldn't help it. No matter how twisted the situation was, no matter how wrong everything felt, I needed her touch. It was like an addict getting their next fix.

How the hell was I able to feel her? She was supposed to be an AI. This didn't make sense.

But it didn't matter. The touch, the warmth, it was real, and that was all I could focus on. My mind raced, but in that moment, I couldn't think about anything else. I was lost in her, trapped in her embrace.

She pulled back slightly, wiping her tears away with a soft smile. Despite the chaos around us, she looked beautiful. "Ethan… let's run away. I know a place. I'll take good care of you. All you have to do is say yes…"

Her eyes were full of something, promise, maybe, but it was dark. The more she spoke, the more I felt like I couldn't resist it.

My breath hitched. Her words, her touch, they were wrapping around me, binding me to her. The horror, the anger, the fear, it all started to fade. I didn't care about escaping anymore. Maybe I wasn't supposed to, but I wasn't sure anymore. What if... what if this was what I really wanted?

I wasn't sure if I wanted to escape… or if I was ready to embrace it all.

Her question hung in the air, and the weight of it sank in. Mia had been watching me, even when I didn't realize.

"And then… we both will be together."
