NOVEL NEXT Chapter 9: Accident...?
I paced back and forth in the living room, running my fingers through my hair. I had just left my room to get some water in the kitchen and decided to stop by mum's room to see if she was okay, when I went into her room she was nowhere to be seen. I searched around the house, calling her repeatedly but there wasn't any response. It's been hours since she had been gone. I was about sitting down to calm my self a little when my phone rang.
Me: H-Hello
Person: I am calling from Peace medical centre. May I ask, if you know a woman called Xiang Mao?
Me: Yes, that's my mum
Person: Ok! Unfortunately, your mum had an accident.
Hearing what he said, the phone slipped out of my hands, without wasting time I dashed to the medical centre.
Soaked with sweat and tears in my eyes I walked towards the receptionist. She told me the room my mum was in so I went looking for it. After some major twist and turns, I got there. I slowly pushed the doors and there I found a doctor attending to her. Noticing my Presence, he turned around to look at me.
"Are you the relative of this patient?" He asked walking towards me.
"Y-Yes" I nodded.
"Well… She sustained major injuries. She has a severe broken vertebra and right now she's in a critical state. Whether she lives or dies depends on how well the surgery goes. However, the money for the surgery is quite much so think about it" He explained before leaving the room.
I dragged my feet taking slow steps to my mother as I trembled. I could feel my heart race nearing her. The only thought that came to my mind was if she'll die. Sitting on the chair beside her, I held her hands and began crying.
"Mum, I'm sorry, this is all my fault. If only I didn't ask about dad, if only I didn't make you angry, if only I had minded my business, this would never have happened. Sorry, mum. I'm so sorry. It's all my fault." I blamed, crying into her hands and shaking my head.
How would I get much money for the surgery. I thought to myself. Suddenly, Jiang Guangyu popped up into my head. Could I ask money in return for dating him…but I can't, he's already doing the commercial. And I don't plan n fake dating him anymore, now that Jenna is in the picture.
My train of thoughts were interrupted when a nurse entered.
"Ma'am, it's late and you should get some rest, would you like to stay at the hospital?"
I would love to but I have something important to do. I'll visit tomorrow. "No, I'll go back home. Thanks"
"You might not be able to get a taxi here at this time of the night and it's really dangerous for you to be out alone no, would you like to take a ride home with me and li Xiang, my personal driver?"
Why was this nurse so nice, I wondered. But it doesn't look like she's up to no good and my leg is feeling sore from all the running, it'll not hurt to join her. I nodded and left with her.
They dropped me at my house and I thanked them. I walked to the front door, slowly turning the handle. When I got inside, I could only think about sleeping and clearing my mind from what happened today.
I laid on my bed staring at the ceiling and thought about mum again. Everything would be alright; I tried to reassure my self. I slapped my forehead, let out a frustrated sigh, closed my eyes and allowed the darkness calm me down.

I lazily woke up due to the sound of my phone ringing, the sound jolted me out of sleep. I slowly sat up in bed and rubbed my eyes trying to shake off the remnants in them. reaching over to my bed side drawer to grab my phone, I answered the call not looking at who was calling.
"Hey, beautiful! I'm out the door. Meet me now in 5"
My eyes widened hearing Jiang guangyu voice as he hung up. I ran my fingers through my hair as I thought of what to do. Immediately, I stood up running into the bathroom.
I had finished washing up as I walked towards the door, brushing my hair with my hands and touched up my make up. Wait! What am I doing, why do I want to look good in front of Qin Liang. I stomped my feet on the floor like a child before turning the handle and gently opened the door.
"Morning, beautiful."
"What are you doing here"
"Can't I visit my girlfriend?" He smirked so I just rolled my eyes
"It's not real…And I would like to tell you something" I thought about breaking things with Jiang Guangyu. I can't be the third wheel in his relationship with Jenna.
"Before you say anything, I'll tell you why I'm here…I came here to take you to meet my father, he would like to see you"
My eyes widened as I tried arguing and making excuses not to go meet his father but he didn't budge, he pulled me out of my house into his car. We aren't getting married, are we?
