Chapter 2: Laugh in his Face.
Chapter 2.
[Tw: descriptions of gore]
"Luckily the fall from the rooftop wasn't very high, or it would have cost her life. She has a fracture on her left ribs, legs and hips, a minor head injury, some bruises, contusions and lacerations. She's asleep for now but she will be needing bed rest for some time."
A female doctor addressed Seol Yoon-ah's Parents. Her voice bland and monotone as she gave her report to the lovely couple. "Her overweight will affect her in some ways and she may even experience breathing difficulties. We'll observe her first and see if there's anything drastic for the next 72 hours" She said while patting Seol Yoon-ah's father on the shoulder before walking away.
A handsome middle aged man and a beautiful middle aged woman. The man looked haggard and the lady's expression looked riddled with grief and tears. Seol Yoon-ah's mom cried in silence. Every sound that came from her lips were laced with agony. "...Why did she do it..?" Yoon-ah's dad stared at his wife for a long while. He stood up and left the hospital.

Mr. Seol arrived at the school. He went straight to the principal office. While walking down the hallway, all sorts of whispers were flying around. The topic of discussion would definitely be about his daughter. He met Lee Tae Mo and Shin Min-ah sitting in the principal office. They both stood up and bowed when Mr. Seol came in.
"No time for pleasantries. What happened really?" Shin Min-ah and Lee Tae Mo glanced at each other before facing Mr. Seol.
"My apologies sir. We couldn't help her in time, she fell because the barricades gave out behind her.." Shin Min-ah look about ready to burst into tears as she spoke to him. "Alright. Where's the principal?" He asked.
"She's at the Teacher's room.." Shin Min-ah replied.
"Okay." He turned around to make his way to the teacher's room.
"Um!" The quiet Lee Tae Mo raised his voice in an attempt to stop him. Mr. Seol turned around and looked back at them. They both were staring at each other for a long minute until Lee Tae Mo finally asked what was in his mind. "..Is she okay?" That question filled him with grief and reminded him of how he almost lost his daughter.
Mr. Seol shivered and sniffed. His eyes filled with tears. He blinked them away. Simple words that were so easy to say on a sunny day took him effort to say this time. His mouth opened and closed for a second. It fell like he know how to answer all of a sudden. With much difficulty, he finally forced his mouth to form words.
"She's fine." He answered, turned around and left.

"I'm aware of the rumors going around ever since last week about Seol Yoon-ah's from class 2's merit class" The principal addressed the student in the school auditorium. A whole bunch of teachers sitting behind her on the stage. She stood tall and authoritative. The stern expression on her face and the seriousness of the topic didn't give room for side talks and murmuring. "Cha Woo in. Year 2's b class come out, Lee Tae Mo. Year 2's merit class and Shin Min-ah. Year 2's merit class. Come on out."
"There's a report reaching me that you, Cha Woo in, spreaded rumors of how Seol Yoon-ah jumped off the school building all because you rejected her. Why would you spread false information?" She addressed Cha Woo in. A glare as cold as Everest pierced Woo in. He felt his knees about to give out from the sheer intimdation she was radiating. Cha Woo in was a master pretender though so he was able to stop himself from embarrassing himself at least.
His lack of reply was disgruntling to Mrs. Principal though.
Whispers and murmurs ignited.
The beau of the second years, the school's rose and Prince was actually just a goddamn liar?? What else did he lie about?
" Lee Tae Mo and Shin Min-ah are both witnesses of what happened that day and the CCTV cameras proved that whatever lie you spouted were false. Do you have anything to say for yourself Cha Woo in?"
The whispers were not stopping anytime soon but Mrs. Principal's voice easily penetrated the loud murmuring.
"Are you willing to tell the audience what really happened that day?"
He still wasn't willing to say anything.
"The school is at fault and damages will be paid because she fell because of the school rooftop railings. They're quite dangerous and would need changing. For now no one is allowed to go to the rooftop until it has successfully been renovated" She explained.
"Regardless, examples must be made. You, Cha Woo in will be expelled with immediate effect as of today. I would like for you to get your bags and things and leave the school premises."
"Woahh" everyone screamed aside from the people standing with the principal. The place was abuzz with this news. So the school's prince is getting expelled?! Even before the school's well known gangster?? That was hilarious to some and devastating to his fans.
"Shin Min-ah. Would you like to tell everyone what happened when you got to the roof top?"
Shin Min-ah shooked her head in refusal. She didn't want to talk about it. "I won't go into much details, but like what the principal said,She fell because of the old railings." She briefed. She looked sad as she said this. Lee Tae Mo was in a world of his own, mind adrift. His thoughts in shambles.
Who was to blame for this situation? Cha Woo-in? Or the railings? He wondered.
The principal finally allowed them to return to their seats. Cha Woo-in was still standing on the stage looking absolutely lost. "You two ensure you visit the school counselor everyday. He'll help you." After experiencing something so traumatic, it was imperative that they did so.
"Seol Yoon-ah will be doing home lessons as she has to take her recovery very seriously. You all won't be seeing her anytime soon" she finally said and then went on to drone about the importance of honesty and why a person should never lie.The speech went on for a long time until she finally reminded Cha Woo in to leave the school premises and thus, she ended the meeting.
Everyone was in a hurry to follow after Cha Woo in. Some were determined to laugh in his face. Min-ah and Tae-mo included.

"Dad, I don't want to go back. Can I change schools? I want to go to another school. I can't face them in school after that. I'll become an outcast...!" Yoon-ah was in tears as she begged her father. The thought of going back to that place made her scared. She couldn't handle it. If she saw her school again she might break into a panic attack. She remembered how she fell with every fibre of her being, the way her head ached as it made contact to the ground despite protecting it with her arms, the blood that flowed out of her head, the way her arms twisted and how a bone was jutting out from her legs, the searing pain in her chest. Her body was heavy, she remembered how she tried to lift her arm and how it just didn't move at all. The scream of terror she heard from the roof that belonged to Shin Min-ah. She tried to move her head but it just didn't move. She didn't want to go back to school and be reminded of how she almost died just because of a barricade that had gotten too old.
Three weeks had passed ever since that incident and today would be the day she would be discharged. It was still difficult for her to move about and she would require a wheel chair. Her hand was in a cast and her legs were also in a cast. Luckily for her, she avoided being paralyzed from the hips down. She was laying on the bed while talking to her dad who was sitting next her bed.
"It's alright. You're not going there anymore, I made some arrangements with the principal. While you're recovering, you'll also be schooling from home. So.. you don't have to worry anymore.."
"Mom is that true?"
"Your dad won't lie to you.." Her mum affirmed. She smiled at her daughter as she patted her head. "You'll need to also attend therapy and rehabilitation.. should we just hire a personal trainer? You'll need it in order to make your bones strong again.." she looked at Mr.Seol this time and he stared at his wife as he nodded.
"Don't worry my dear, you'll overcome this.." she patted her head as she cleaned the tears on her face. "As for your younger brother, he's staying with your Auntie in Busan for now.. he'll be back by next month, hopefully you'll be better then my dear"
"Don't cry anymore.."
