Chapter 466: Layers of Suspicion (Part 2)
Little William Moses's face turned pale, "I did not do it, you are slandering me."
"Slandering?" Luke chuckled, "Then why do you think we found your house?
Just because Harry Sabo is dead, don't assume that no one knows what you did.
Enco Dumate is still alive, and he pointed you out for using two hundred thousand US dollars to buy drugs from Harry Sabo."
"He's lying! I have never bought drugs!" Little William Moses stood up, loudly refuting.
Mrs. Moses stood in front of her son, defending, "I know my son; he would never touch drugs. You must have made a mistake.
Moreover, I will not allow you to take him away from my house."
"I won't take him away." Luke stepped aside and took out his phone, dialing David's number. Since Little William Moses was suspected of drug dealing, handing him over to the Department targeting Organized Crime and Narcotics would be more appropriate.
After the call, Luke sat on the sofa opposite, staring at Little William Moses.
Little William Moses showed an angry look, "What exactly do you want?"
"Let me formally introduce myself; I am Luke Lee, team leader of the First Squadron in the Robbery and Murder Department.
Your drug dealing case is not within my jurisdiction, and I can ignore it.
The reason I'm here is to investigate the murder of Harry Sabo; you were originally my suspect."
Little William Moses snorted, "Do you think someone like me could kill him?"
"Don't have a confrontational attitude; think differently. On the night of March 1st, you were attacked, and on the night of March 2nd, Harry Sabo was killed. Isn't that too coincidental?"
Little William Moses pondered for a moment, "You suspect that the same group attacked both of us."
Luke nodded, "That's possible.
So, don't you want to catch the shooter who attacked you?"
Little William Moses stared at Luke, watched for a while, and then slowly said, "What do you want me to do?"
"I just want to know more details about the shooting incident."
"OK, ask away."
"I need to know the name and detailed address of the clinic where you were treated."
Little William Moses sighed, "107 Kamara Street, Torlak Community Clinic..."
Half an hour later, David arrived on-site with his team.
David ordered his subordinates to go inside and arrest people while he and Luke chatted outside in the yard, "Is there any progress in the case of Harry Sabo's murder?"
Luke pointed in the direction of the house, "Not for now, but I helped you catch a drug dealer; this guy was going to buy drugs from Harry Sabo but ended up being a robbery victim."
David curled his lips, "Just a small fry.
We're getting ready to capture Adel Owen's upper line, which is the group manufacturing the drugs.
To avoid leaking the news, we're not going to take action yet. We'll wait until we catch the manufacturing group, and then we'll round them all up."
Luke handed him a cigarette, "So you're planning a major operation?"
"Yes, Jones has been eyeing this big fish for a long time, which is why I sent Harry to contact the drug dealers; he wouldn't miss such a good opportunity."
"That's perfect; help me out with one thing,"
David took a drag from his cigarette, "What?"
"Based on my guesses, the people who killed Harry Sabo and robbed the drugs and illicit money are likely the same group. If these people stole the drugs, they're definitely going to sell them.
Can you keep an eye out for me and see if anyone is selling similar drugs?"
"OK, I'll keep an eye out for you."
At this moment, Mrs. Moses's voice rang in the yard, "My son is injured; he is the victim; why are you arresting him?
I will report you...
You bunch of bastards, don't trample my lawn..."
Amid Mrs. Moses's cursing, Little William Moses was still taken into the police car, "Mom, you don't need to worry; I haven't done anything illegal; the lawyer will prove my innocence."
"Darling, I believe you; I'll get you the best lawyer..."
This scene of the mother and son separating made Luke feel like he was the bad guy; he said goodbye to David and left in the car.
Luke distilled three important clues from the earlier conversation: a bar, a clinic, and a suspect vehicle.
According to Little William Moses, he was shot outside a bar, which should be the primary crime scene.
Later, Luke led the team to the Vinoa Bar.
Luke sent people inside the bar to gather information while he stood by the roadside examining.
Little William Moses was also brought by Luke to identify the scene.
After Little William Moses's identification, the exact location of the shooting was found, and Luke also discovered stains resembling bloodstains on the ground.
However, three days had passed since Little William Moses was attacked; many clues had already disappeared.
Then, Luke rushed to the clinic where Harry Sabo was treated for his gunshot wound.
107 Kamara Street, Torlak Community Clinic.
The clinic's head was also a doctor, a sixty-year-old Caucasian man named Dalji Crewe.
After questioning, the clinic's doctor admitted that they had treated Little William Moses for a gunshot wound on March 1st. Little William Moses had a serious shoulder injury, his right hand would be somewhat affected, and a bullet grazed his cheek, possibly leaving a scar.
However, the doctor did not admit to being a black clinic, only saying that he saw Little William Moses's injuries were too severe to be moved, so he treated him nearby.
Moreover, Little William Moses claimed that his family had reported to the police, so the clinic did not report.
This story seemed okay, but Luke knew they were definitely lying.
As for how to deal with this black clinic, Luke had two options. The first was to do official business, and according to regulations, this clinic would definitely need to close, and the boss would bear some legal responsibility.
The second option was for Luke to turn a blind eye; in exchange, Dalji Crewe would need to provide information when Luke needed it.
After careful consideration, the Caucasian old man chose the second option; even if there are troubles later, it is better than closing the store and going to jail now.
After leaving the clinic, Luke directly returned to the Robbery and Murder Department.
Luke was not very satisfied with this cursory investigation,
Mainly because three days had already passed since Little William Moses's attack, and there were few valuable clues, sometimes relying on luck.
However, Luke did have a comprehensive understanding of the case concerning Little William Moses being shot.
First, both Little William Moses and Harry Sabo were shot; Little William Moses was shot on the night of March 1st, and Harry Sabo was killed on the night of March 2nd. From there, the two cases may have some connection.
In addition, Luke compared more details between the two shooting cases.
First, the handguns used by the shooters were different; the one that attacked Little William Moses was a revolver, and the one that killed Harry Sabo was an automatic pistol.
Secondly, the descriptions of the culprits differ; the one who attacked Little William Moses was likely a female, while the ones who killed Harry Sabo were two males.
Third, there's a difference in professionalism; Little William Moses was very close to the attacker, but the attacker did not manage to kill Little William Moses; whereas the ones who killed Harry Sabo were much more professional.
Based on these signs and the examination of both crime scenes, Luke believed that the shooter of Little William Moses and the killers of Harry Sabo were probably not the same group.
It is likely two separate incidents occurred close in time.
However, Luke still felt that there might be other connections between the two cases, but couldn't figure it out for now...
Luke carefully reviewed the information on Little William Moses and Harry Sabo.
The direct link between the two was that drug deal, and the ones who robbed the drugs were the gunmen who killed Harry Sabo.
Only three people knew the time and place of the drug transaction: the buyer Little William Moses, the seller Harry Sabo, and Enco Dumate.
One of these three could be the mole.
But with the current evidence, it's still unclear who the mole might be?
Luke analyzed it further and felt the most likely mole might even be the gunshot victim, Harry Sabo...
