Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 461: Clues

Mary from the technical team happened to walk over and echoed, "You're right, it's indeed an exhumation."

Blackie said, "But it seems this body isn't too decomposed, the time of death shouldn't be too long ago."

Mary said, "I'm just objectively stating the facts, the body was buried in the ground and then dug up.

As for when the victim was killed and when they were buried, that's the forensic doctor's job.

Hila won't be sharing her paycheck with me, so don't expect to get answers from me." Mary gave a knowing look.

The deputy team leader said, "Tell us what you've found."

Seeing Luke also looking at her, Mary said, "We didn't find any suspected victim's ID at the scene, nor the victim's phone. We found at least four suspicious footprints around the scene.

Two rather obvious tire marks, one from a Tesla, and the other seems like a pickup truck.

Judging by the bloodstains and other evidence, this is just a burial site, not the first crime scene."

Blackie said, "These clues alone make it difficult to identify the killer, are there any more clues about the killer?"

Mary shrugged, "You need to first find the first crime scene, there are only so many clues here."

"Thank you, you've already done a great job." Luke encouraged, saying, "Help me collect the footprints of the informer, those four suspicious footprints might include his, which could narrow down the suspects."

"No problem."

After Mary left, everyone turned their gaze to the forensic doctor.

Blackie looked at Harry Sabo's body and sighed, "What an unlucky guy, this time last year... dumped by the best woman in the world.

Now he died in such unclear circumstances.

Though you're a failure in love, it's not your fault, your opponent was too strong.

We'll catch the perpetrator who killed you, poor guy."

Luke "…"

So wicked.

Luke stepped aside and dialed David's number, "Hey, man, busy?"

"Same as always, what's up?"

"Do you still have contact with Harry Sabo?"

"Yes, I occasionally have him gather some information for me, do you need him?"

"I wouldn't dare, he's with God now."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"We just found his body."

David was silent for a moment, "How did he die?"

"The autopsy isn't finished yet, I'm still at the scene, I'll come find you to talk later."

"Alright." David's tone was noticeably somber.

After the call ended, the forensic doctor also completed the initial autopsy.

Hila removed her protective goggles and gloves and said, "He was shot four times in the chest, one bullet hit the heart, causing massive blood loss and death.

The time of death was between seven last night and midnight."

Luke asked, "How long was the body buried underground?"

"It's hard to determine the exact time, but it shouldn't have been too long."

Blackie rubbed his chin, "According to witnesses, when they found the body, a rat crawled out of the mouth. The death time isn't long, the burial time isn't long, the decomposition shouldn't be severe, why would a rat enter his mouth?"

"I found food residue in the deceased's mouth, probably cream or cake-like stuff, likely attracting the rat.

Additionally, there were multiple bruises on the deceased, indicating he was likely beaten a few days before death."

Luke asked, "Approximately how long before death?"

"It should be between three to seven days before death.

That's all for now, I'll inform you once the autopsy progresses."

Luke nodded, there's more than a three-day gap between the beating and the time of death, whether they're related remains unclear.

Jackson asked, "Captain, do you need us to do anything?"

Luke didn't respond, looking toward the deputy, "Deputy, what do you think?"

The deputy surveyed the surroundings, "It's unlikely to find any witnesses in this desolate place at night.

I suggest checking surveillance to find the vehicle that dumped the body, to trace the identity of the perpetrator.

At the same time, investigate Harry Sabo's identity and whereabouts, find the first crime scene, there might be more clues there."

Luke continued, "Deputy, you're responsible for investigating Harry Sabo's whereabouts and finding the first crime scene.

Raymond, Jenny, you track the vehicle that dumped the body."

"Yes, sir."

As for Luke himself, he returned to the police station, ready to talk with David.

From David's words, he seemed to have a connection with Harry Sabo, maybe he could provide valuable leads.

Luke returned to the Robbery and Murder Department at the detective bureau, where David was already waiting in the office, his shiny bald head gleaming in the sunlight.

"Luke, I'm here."

"Come in." Luke entered the office.

David followed him in, closed the door, and asked, "Are you sure it's Harry Sabo?"

Luke asked in return, "Can you still reach him?"

David sat across the desk, "I just tried to contact him, but there was no response. The bastard rarely replies to me immediately, he's always cautious."

Luke took out a tablet and opened a few photos, "These are photos of the body, take a look."

David took the tablet, examined carefully, and sighed, "No doubt, it's him, I just saw him a few days ago.
