Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 385 New Case (Resume Updates)_2

The deceased officer's name was Jens Hauley, a white officer, 34 years old, who was on patrol with his colleague Timo Jensen.

They found a red Honda car running a red light. The two officers flashed their lights and sounded their siren to try to stop the car, but it didn't stop immediately, leading to a chase.

Near Mahave Street, the suspect vehicle stopped by the roadside. The driver ran out of the driver's seat and fled into the alley on the right.

The deceased's colleague, Timo Jensen, entered the alley in pursuit, while the deceased stayed by the car to guard the passengers inside.

Shortly after Timo Jensen entered the alley, he heard gunshots. By the time he chased out, Jens Hauley had already been shot and fallen to the ground, and the car's passenger was also gone.

After browsing the information, Luke asked, "The crime occurred at 11 PM last night. It's been nearly 12 hours since then. Has the Southern District found any clues about the killer during this time?"

Reid said, "After the incident, the Southern District has been trying their best to investigate the case.

However, some patrol officers are on leave and unable to join the team temporarily, and the Southern District lacks manpower. They haven't found any valuable clues, which is why the police authorities decided to transfer the case to the Robbery and Murder Department, to catch Jens Hauley's killer as soon as possible."

Reid described the incident, giving Squad One a rough understanding of the case.

But to solve the case, this level of understanding is obviously not enough. Luke still had a few questions to personally ask another involved officer, who was an eyewitness. Luke wanted to hear his account of the scene.

After seeing Reid off, Luke assigned tasks. He went to the Southern District with Jackson to understand the situation and receive the dossiers.

The deputy team went to the crime scene. Although twelve hours had passed, on-site inspection was still necessary to help officers get a more comprehensive understanding of the case.

Once matters at the Southern District were handled, Luke would also visit the scene.

...

Southern District.

Los Angeles has four districts, each with its affiliated detective department. Only significant criminal cases are transferred to the Robbery and Murder Department.

After arriving at the Southern District, Luke found the night detective department.

The person in charge of the case transfer was the Detective Chief of the night detective department, Davo Gali.

After meeting, Davo Gali proactively shook Luke's hand, "Captain Lee, I've heard a lot about you.

I often see your news, the Vampire Case, the School Shooting Case, the Headless Female Corpse Case, the Poisoning Case…

I've always wanted to exchange some case-solving experiences with you. It's an honor to cooperate with you."

"Likewise." Luke smiled. Although the other party recognized him, Luke still took out the transfer procedures.

After checking the transfer materials, Davo Gali invited Luke into the office, "Captain Lee, please sit down. I'll get the case dossier."

Soon, Davo Gali placed a file in front of Luke, saying, "The case clues are all recorded herein. Take a look, if there's anything you don't understand, feel free to ask me."

Luke opened the dossier to check. This dossier was more detailed than the information Reid had, and Luke spent a full half hour before closing the material, then asked, "Detective Chief Gali, was this case investigated by you?"

"The case wasn't led by me, but I did participate in the investigation and was among the first detectives to arrive at the scene."

"Did you find any suspicious individuals at the scene?"

"No.

When I arrived, twenty minutes had passed since the shooting. Although there were onlookers, no suspicious individuals were found."

Luke considered this and agreed; if suspicious individuals had been found, they wouldn't have transferred the case to the Robbery and Murder Department. "I'd like to talk to Timo Jensen, the victim's partner."

Davo Gali thought for a moment, "I can help you contact him."

Luke continued, "We'll review the law enforcement recorders and dash cams of the two officers."

Davo Gali shrugged, "I can't decide this, you'll need to apply to the higher-ups."

"Where are the suspect vehicle and the police car driven by Jens Hauley?"

"Both are in the Forensics Department."

"I want to inspect the suspect vehicle first."

"No problem." After Davo Gali finished speaking, he took Luke to the Forensics Department and then reported Luke's requests to the higher authorities.

...

Forensics Department parking lot.

Luke located the two cars from the night of the incident, one driven by the red-light suspect and the other by the police, with Jens Hauley reported as the driver according to the dossier.

The suspect vehicle was a red Dongfeng Honda, about 80% new, with scratches on the front right and back left, seemingly recent. However, the damage wasn't severe.

A bullet hole was found on the back right side of this suspect vehicle, which was likely from the perpetrator's shooting.

Luke opened the car door to inspect the interior. It was messy, filled with items and used garbage, food packaging, and condoms, etc.

Additionally, some contraband was found: a handgun, white powder, and dozens of bullets.

The police car was a Chevrolet Caprice with a strong appearance overall, boasting over three hundred horsepower, capable of meeting various needs in police work.

The police car had quite a few scratches on both front and rear, but no bullet holes were found. Luke then opened the car, which was cleaned thoroughly, though the dashcam had been removed.

"Captain Lee."

Behind him, Davo Gali's voice sounded. Accompanied by him was a young white male in his twenties, around 180 cm tall, somewhat slim.
