Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 363 The Cause

Little Black walked over to Brando Salvalto, squatted down to check his breathing, and then slapped him twice across the face, "Smack! Smack!"

Brando Salvalto did not wake up.

Little Black turned to Luke and said, "You hit too hard, this poor sod's been knocked out."

Luke laughed, "Then you better give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation fast."

Little Black shook his head, "Disgusting, I don't want to do it."

He went back to the wine cellar, grabbed a bottle of wine, uncorked it, and poured it straight onto Brando Salvalto's face.

"Cough cough..." Brando Salvalto was choked awake by the wine.

Little Black said with a smug look, "How's that for emergency treatment?"

Luke took a swig from the bottle, "Not bad."

Brando Salvalto was searched, handcuffed, and led to the lobby on the first floor.

Alfie Imma glanced over and laughed, "Captain Lee, looks like your luck isn't too bad."

"Indeed, when we arrived, this bastard was drunk and lying in the wine cellar fast asleep."

Alfie Imma laughed, "No wonder his cheeks are red."

Luke looked around, and apart from those three Latin men from earlier, there were two more subdued individuals, one Latin and one African American.

Luke asked, "What do you plan to do with these people?"

Alfie Imma said leisurely, "The injured ones go to the hospital, leave two familiar faces to hold the fort, then come in and catch one after another, what do you think of this plan?"

"It's a big project, need help?"

"If you would like to stay, I'd be more than grateful."

Luke patted Brando Salvalto on the shoulder, "Sorry, I've already promised this guy a tour of the police station.

However, I can leave a few people to help you, they're all skilled hands."

"Thanks." Alfie Imma smiled ambiguously, "By the way, if you can't get through to this guy, you can hand him over to the FBI, we have ways to make him talk."

"We won't trouble you with that." Luke dropped a line and pushed Brando Salvalto out.

At the bar entrance, Luke stopped Raymond and instructed, "You take some men and stay behind... call me if anything happens."

Luke gave a knowing look.

"Understood." Raymond nodded.

The police had joined this roundup, and it was time to close the net, obviously they couldn't let the FBI take all the credit; the Robbery and Murder Department also wanted a piece of the action.

...

The police escorted several suspects into the car from behind, trying not to attract any attention.

Little Black stretched in the car, "Captain, after we interrogate Brando Salvalto, can we knock off early?"

Luke reclined in his seat, "Don't be too optimistic, prepare for a long haul."

Little Black sighed, "I've been working consecutive nights, got dark circles under my eyes."

Luke glanced at him and laughed, "If you're still joking, that means you're not too tired, you can last a few more nights."

"That's for the sake of overtime pay." Little Black shrugged his shoulders, "OK, let's talk business, what do you guys want to eat?

I don't want to work on an empty stomach."

Luke said, "Just order something, anything but those damn burgers."

Without eating now, it could be the middle of the night by the time we're finished, and the only thing left would be bread after the restaurants close.

Back at the Detective Bureau, Port processed Brando Salvalto's detainment procedure.

Luke squeezed in time to gobble down a Mexican wrap and then entered the interrogation room with a large cup of coffee in hand.

Brando Salvalto was already cuffed to the interrogation chair, his left cheek swollen high.

Luke sat opposite him and asked, "Need an ice pack?"

Brando Salvalto glanced at Luke and shook his head, "Not necessary."

Luke asked, "What's your name?"

"Brando Salvalto."

"Where are you from?"

"Los Angeles."

"Why did you join the Gonsede Gang?"

Brando Salvalto shook his head, "I don't know what you're talking about."

Luke took a sip of coffee and said patiently, "You're not the first smuggler we caught. Another gang member like you also refused to cooperate with the police investigation.

We had to hand him over to the FBI.

When I saw him again... I could barely recognize him.

Now I think, maybe the police were too lenient.

Do you want to be handed over to the FBI?"

Brando's face showed a look of panic, his mouth opened as if he wanted to say something, but he ended up just lowering his head.

"I understand." Luke put a notebook and pen in front of him, "If you have anything you want to tell your family, write it down.

I'll go contact the FBI to pick you up."

Brando's eyes reddened as he argued, "The FBI can't just kill people."

Luke stared at him and laughed, pulling back the notebook and pen, "You're right, it's up to you whether to write."

Seeing Luke's smile only made Brando Salvalto more flustered, "Hey, you can't do this, you don't know how terrifying the Gonsede Gang is, if they find out I snitched...

My family and I will be in danger."

Luke said, "The FBI and the police are already prepared to take down the Gonsede Gang."

"That's only in Los Angeles, the main stronghold of the Gonsede Gang is in Mexico, you have no power to take them down.

Sooner or later, they will come back."
