Chapter 353 Val_3
Three men of different ages, all a decade or so apart, what could they possibly do together?
Watch TV.
The three of them sat on the living room sofa, turned on the TV to a news channel which was broadcasting news about Danny Carter.
Val said with contempt, "I was actually rooting for him in this year's Super Bowl, only to find out he's scum.
If I ever run into him, I would definitely beat him up," he said as he swung his fist.
The chubby kid said earnestly, "Uncle, I don't think you can beat him up."
"I'm taller than him."
"But he's more muscular than you."
Luke cut the two off, "Let's not be so violent. He might have been framed. The two of them could have been playing poker willingly."
Val asked, "Did you also take part in the investigation for this case?"
"No."
"Then how do you know all this?"
"Rumors."
Val shook his head, "I never trust rumors.
Players like him, with more brawn than brains, a little booze and they can do anything.
I'm not at all surprised by this news."
Luke shrugged his shoulders, "OK, it's rare for you to be so opinionated."
Luke, not in the mood to argue, put on a recent popular TV series, "Dragon Family."
This TV series is a spin-off of "Game of Thrones," and it attracted a lot of attention after its premiere.
The three of them watched and discussed it at the same time.
The quality of the show was indeed good, with great special effects, but the female lead's attractiveness was lacking.
Overall, it could be considered a decent spin-off series of recent times.
As it approached noon, Luke was too lazy to cook and ordered pizza, fried chicken, and fries.
All three were food lovers and quickly polished off the fried chicken and fries, leaving only one slice of pizza.
The three eyed the last slice of pizza, all wanting to eat it.
Clearly, none had had their fill.
The chubby kid said, "I'm still growing." He then reached out for the pizza.
Luke pushed his hand away, "You're already fat enough, you can't eat anymore."
Val said, "You're right, he's almost caught up to me in size."
With two votes in agreement, they kicked the chubby kid out of the competition.
The chubby kid glared at the two of them and taunted, "I'm curious to see which of you two will eat it."
Val looked at Luke, "I'm your uncle," Val said, wearing an expression that suggested Luke should let him have it.
"So what?" Luke hadn't had his fill either and wasn't about to give up the last slice of pizza.
"When you were little, I always took good care of you, and now that you're grown up..." Val's expression implied, you know what I mean.
"I don't remember you ever taking care of me when I was little."
"It's normal not to remember, you were a kid back then."
"Really? Then let me ask you a question, and if you get it right, I'll let you have the slice."
"OK, shoot."
Luke thought for a moment, "What's my middle name?"
"Middle name?" Val frowned, "Uh, can we change the question?"
Luke sighed, "Val."
"What?"
"My middle name is Val."
"Oh…" Val slapped his forehead, "sorry, I've been too busy with work recently, my brain's a mess.
I should have remembered."
"But the fact is you forgot, which is sad."
"Sorry." Val apologized again, full of guilt, "The last slice of pizza… you eat it."
"I won't say thank you." Luke took the pizza and bit a big chunk out of it, what's stolen is always sweeter.
The chubby kid sat beside them, his expression sullen, his eyes fixed firmly on Val.
Val, feeling a bit creeped out by his stare, said, "I didn't eat the last piece, why are you looking at me like that?"
The chubby kid said huffily, "Luke's middle name isn't Val."
"What? He tricked me? Then what is it?"
The chubby kid said, "It's our grandfather's name, Robert."
Val let out a sigh of relief, "I knew it, if his middle name was my name, how could I possibly forget."
The chubby kid coldly said, "Do you remember my middle name?"
"Come on, I've already made a fool of myself once, can we change the question…" Val trailed off, then suddenly realized something...
Luke's middle name is Dad's first name.
Could it be that the chubby kid's middle name is…
"Val."
