Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 347: Danny_3

Standing at the door was a black man in his twenties, with thick lips and headphones around his neck, under 180 cm tall, broad-shouldered, and muscular.

"Hello Mr. Ellis," he said.

"Mr. Carter, let me introduce you to..."

Danny Carter interrupted Daisy, "No need for introductions.

I know Captain Luke Lee, I've seen his news; he's a real tough guy."

"I've seen your games too, the fastest player on the field."

Daisy smiled, "Gentlemen, can we save the compliments for inside the room?"

Danny Carter stepped aside, "Please, come in.

Sorry, the room's a bit messy, I don't want anyone in there cleaning right now."

Daisy said, "You're right, the fewer people you interact with now, the better."

"I know, I'm being cautious and careful," Danny Carter sighed and sat heavily on the sofa. "I regret it so much. I shouldn't have gone home with her that day.

Officer Luke, may I call you that?"

"Just Luke is fine." Luke was now helping him as a detective.

Recently, Orty had sorted out a detective license for him. With the endorsement of Pinkerton Detective Agency, Luke hardly needed to be concerned about it.

"Same here, just call me Danny.

Luke, I know you've handled many big cases. Is mine just a minor case for you?"

"Danny, before I formally take on your case, I'd like to have a chat with you first."

Danny Carter shrugged, "OK, what about?"

"I heard from Mr. Ellis that you're being accused of involvement in a vigorous assault case?"

"Yes."

"Who has accused you of assault?"

"Billie Warwick."

"When did you have any contact with her?"

"The evening of November 18."

"Did you know her beforehand?"

"No."

"On the evening of November 18, did you two get intimate?"

"Yes."

"Did you force her?"

"Absolutely not.

She said she was a fan, liked me a lot, and was very enthusiastic.

She invited me to her place for coffee, and one thing led to another, naturally."

"Then why did she report it to the police?"

"I don't know, I really regret it now, I shouldn't have trusted her."

Luke was observing him closely and saw no signs of lying on his face.

In other words, he was innocent.

"OK, let's talk about the details of your commission."

Danny Carter exhaled a sigh of relief, "Thank you for being willing to help me.

I really need support from an expert like you right now, I'd feel helpless if you weren't willing..."

As for the commission and fee, Daisy had already negotiated them. Luke was involved in the case as a detective consultant and occupied a lawyer's slot, eligible to earn the same commission percentage as Daisy.

Of course, that was just the official story. In reality, Luke didn't have to share his earnings with the law firm, and his profit was much higher than Daisy's.

"Danny, I need you to describe your interaction with Billie Warwick in detail, the more detailed, the better."

"It really is a terrible memory..." Danny Carter picked up a glass from the coffee table and took a sip,

"We had training that day. Afterwards, we went to a bar for a drink, our team has a rule not to drink too much, I just had a beer, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of the bar.

In the bar, I met Billie Warwick. She claimed to be a fan, and we had a great conversation.

I bought her a drink, and we danced together on the dancefloor...

The feeling at that time was really good."

"What time did you arrive at the bar, and which bar was it?"

"Camwhite Street, West Bar, I got there around eight, left the bar at ten."

"Was there surveillance in the bar?"

"I'm not sure."

"Did anyone see the two of you together?"

"Yes, my two teammates."

"Where did you go after leaving the bar?"

"It was hard to get a cab in that area, so I offered to drive her home, and she agreed.

On the way, we had a great chat.

I asked her if she had a boyfriend, and she said she was single.

I drove her to her doorstep, and she invited me in for coffee. I parked in front of her house, and we went inside together."

Danny Carter picked up a cigarette, lit it, and took a drag, "We had another drink, the atmosphere was great at that time…

I kissed her, she didn't refuse, and then we played poker."

"Where did you play poker?"

"On her living room couch."

"How long was it from the kiss until the end?"

"Seven or eight minutes."

"Did she resist verbally or physically at that moment?"

"No."

"How long was the physical contact?"

"I was quite excited, just about two or three minutes."

"Did you leave behind any genetic material?"

"Yes."

"How many times?"

"Just once."

Luke felt something was off. How could a young, strong man have just one encounter, especially with a beautiful girl he just met?

"What happened next?"

"We went to her bedroom; she went to take a shower while I played with my phone on the bed, and then I heard a familiar car sound…

I went to the window to check and found that someone was driving away my car.

It was my newly bought Porsche 911, and by the time I ran out… my car was gone, not even the tail lights were visible."

"What time was it then?"

"Around eleven."

"Did you call the police?"

"Yes, I called the police and then dealt with the car theft.

The next morning I was working out in the yard when the police came to my house, I thought they had found my car.

But it wasn't the same batch of police, the new officers asked for my name and told me Billie Warwick had filed a report, claiming that I had assaulted her the previous night.

I tried to explain, but they wouldn't listen, they just arrested me straight away.

I swear to God, what I'm telling you is the truth, I didn't force anyone, Billie Warwick was totally willing."

Luke inquired, "When did Billie Warwick file the report?"

"The morning of November 19."

"Was your car found?"

"No. That's another reason I'm upset; my car was stolen, and the police did nothing.

Someone falsely accuses me, and the police just arrest me straight away.

Luke, can your Robbery and Murder Department take over this case?"

"If Billie Warwick has met with foul play, perhaps."

"Are you joking?"

"No, I'm serious."
