Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 343: Routine

Forty minutes later.

Deputy team leader and Xiao Hei returned to the detective bureau.

Luke asked, "Did you find any clues about the shooter?"

Xiao Hei poured a cup of coffee, sat at the table, and said, "The shooter was still at a long distance, and the shooting location was likely on the rooftop of a five-story building to the southeast. The shooting spot was cleaned up very well—no valuable clues were found, nor were any cartridge cases."

"How did you determine that the shooting location was on the rooftop?"

The deputy team leader answered, "We determined this by backtracking from Anise Snow's gunshot location and position. Additionally, we took statements from people in the building. By summarizing the contents of the statements, the highest probability is that the shooter was on the rooftop."

Luke continued to ask, "How did the shooter find Anise Snow?"

Xiao Hei said, "According to Anise Snow, the real estate agent Garrett Swan invited her to play poker at that rented apartment, as Swan put it, 'safe, economical, exciting,' and no need to worry about the wife finding out.

Worn out from the hustle and back home, the wife thinks he's been working hard and offers both sympathy and extra meals—a truly shameless guy.

Anise Snow and the two of them approached the apartment door, and as they opened the door, they spotted the Latin hitman. Before she could react, the shooter killed Garrett Swan.

She was terrified, turned, and ran, losing her shoes and backpack in the process.

I suspect the shooter must have picked up her backpack and got her residential address from the documents inside."

Luke asked, "Did any eyewitnesses see the shooter?"

The deputy team leader said, "Not at the moment.

This also indicates that the shooter is a meticulous person with detailed plans.

If it hadn't been for the first incident by chance, it would have been very difficult for us to obtain precise information about him."

Xiao Hei asked, "What about Jackson and Jenny?"

"Ding-ling-ling..."

Luke's phone rang. He glanced at the screen and pressed the answer button.

Jackson's voice came from the phone, "Captain, we've arrived at Sali Po Auto, pulled up the records of recent car purchases and sales, and found that around September 7th, the dealership sold a black Chevrolet sedan, with the model and color matching the suspected vehicle."

Luke asked, "Did you find the buyer's information?"

"Got it, I've sent the driver's license information of the car buyer to the chat group."

...

Eight o'clock in the evening.

Audel Community.

Luke led the team to the Audel Community, three vehicles cruising slowly along the neighborhood streets.

Luke rolled down the passenger window and gazed at the houses outside. This was a typical Latin immigrant area with houses decorated with clear Latin characteristics, and the yards were planted with fiery red small peppers, looking very appetizing.

However, what puzzled Luke were the many homes along the street with their lights off, yet cars parked outside garages suggested people lived there. It was only eight o'clock in the evening; it didn't make sense for people to be asleep so early—where had they gone?

The suspect's house was at number 309. The car smoothly passed without stopping, but that didn't prevent Luke from observing from inside the vehicle. There were no lights on in the house, but a black Chevrolet sedan parked outside the door matched the suspected vehicle's model and color.

It was certain; this was the home of the suspect Dalnio Gonzalez.

But from what they could see, he was probably not at home either.

It's normal for a community to have vacant houses or residents coming back late, yet most homes dark at this hour was somewhat abnormal.

Luke was about to disembark to inquire and learn about the community when he suddenly saw bright lights in the distance, as if some event was happening.

The car drove closer and discovered it was the community park, not very large, but crowded with people—at least a hundred crammed the small park.

Around the perimeter of the park, older folks gathered in groups drinking, children ran around noisily playing, and in the middle of an open space, a bonfire was lit with many young people dancing around it.

Luke got out of the car and observed the joyful crowd in the park, the lively music echoing in his ears, somewhat reminiscent of Latin ethnic music.

Xiao Hei also came over, focusing on the women dancing beside the bonfire, "God, that chick's ass is so big, almost catching up to Kardashian."

Luke laughed, "Your taste, huh?"

"Nonono, I'm married now, just purely appreciating, while incidentally scouting for you," Xiao Hei said, then quickly changed the subject, "What dance are they doing there?

Rumba? Cha-cha? Or is it samba?"

Luke ignored Xiao Hei. Instead, his gaze searched through the crowd, quickly locking onto his target.

Looking at the happy crowd, Luke didn't want to make a big scene, so he instructed his team members to deploy unobtrusively around the area and quietly wait for the right moment to arrest.

Luke mingled with the crowd, picked up a bottle of beer from the table, sipped on the beer while enjoying the view of the Latinas dancing by the fire, voluptuous, spicy, generously showing off their best sides.

Xiao Hei and Jackson had even more fun, heading straight to the fire to dance, with Xiao Hei even competing in a dance-off with the suspect Dalnio Gonzalez.

Port leaned against the car and sighed softly, turning to Raymond in the driver's seat, "Do you really think they're here to catch someone?"

Raymond laughed, "You'll get used to it."
