Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 333 Lakeside_2

Some time ago, I happened to run into them at the mall.

Chanel Karl was clinging to her male assistant's arm, very intimate... Their relationship is definitely not simple.

You should know what I mean."

Luke pressed, "Does your father know about this?"

"No, I haven't told him."

"Why not tell him? Don't you want them to break up?"

"Of course, I want them to break up.

So what do you think I should say?

Tell him that Chanel Karl is keeping a toy boy on the side, that she married you just to con you out of your money, and then run away with a toy boy.

He would be furious," Marilyn Cruise warned in a low voice,

"So I will not admit it, you found this out on your own, understand?"

"Understood."

"Oh God, I don't want to talk about this anymore, let's just leave it at that, otherwise I'm going to explode.

I can't believe at my age, I still have to worry about things like this.

He's such a troublesome old man." Marilyn Cruise stood up and walked in the direction of the villa.

"Mommy, where are you going? You promised to fish with me," Manny called out.

"Sorry, dear. I'm just not in the mood today, another time."

"You can't do this, you already promised me."

"Sorry, I'll get you a gift to make it up to you.

Let me know what you want," Marilyn Cruise said, and with a wave, she entered the villa.

Manny complained, "I just wanted you to fish with me... I don't need any gifts!"

It was unclear whether Marilyn heard him, as she didn't respond.

Luke could see that Marilyn Cruise's parenting style was simply to throw money at problems; something he was clearly lacking in a mother.

If he really had such a mother, he would have already chosen to lay low.

The boy named Manny looked at Luke and complained, "What did you say to my mom? Why is she so angry?"

Luke glanced at him and smiled, "You should just go play."

Manny cursed, "Bullshit, don't look at me with that 'children shouldn't get involved in adults' matters' gaze.

It's just that threatening letter, right? As if no one knew about it."

"You know about the threatening letter?"

"Yes."

"Have you seen that threatening letter?"

"Yes."

"But according to Mr. Fuan Cruise, only two people have seen that letter, and you are not on the list."

"Believe it or not, that's up to you?"

"Do you know who wrote that threatening letter?"

"Want to know?"

"Of course."

Manny squinted, "I wrote it."

"Wow, the writer of the threatening letter is found; I can report back to Mr. Fuan Cruise."

Manny said mockingly, "Idiot, I was just messing with you, you can't possibly believe a kid, can you?"

"A lot of truths are spoken in jest," Luke kept his gaze fixed on the other, and seeing no sign of lying in his expression, it meant he could very well be telling the truth.

Manny retorted, "So what do you plan to do? Take me to my grandfather and tell him the threatening letter was written by me?

Come on, you can't catch the real writer of the threatening letter, so you just pin the blame on a kid.

You're quite the security consultant."

"You're right, you're just a kid; I overestimated you."

Manny countered, "You overestimated yourself.

The incident happened days ago, and you've not found any clues yet.

Why not come fishing with me?"

"Why are you inviting me to fish?"

Manny said, "Because I can't drive."

"Why should I drive for you?"

"It's because you upset my mommy. The lake is far from here, do you expect me to walk?"

"OK, I'll take you."

Manny tossed the car keys to him, "Be careful, if you crash it, you can't afford it."

Luke caught the keys smoothly; they were for a Bentley, a car he hadn't driven before. Being a free driver for once wouldn't be too bad.

Luke got into the Bentley, and the interior was incredibly luxurious, opulent, and upscale. He began to check it out, touching this and looking at that.

Manny sat in the passenger seat, showing a look of disdain, "Can you handle it?"

Luke wouldn't let a kid look down on him; he'd just drive it, after all, it wasn't his car. He adjusted the seat, stepped on the brake, started the car, and with a push on the gas pedal, he shot forward.

"Whimper..."

The car ride was comfortable and the engine quite powerful.

More importantly, there was only one car on the entire road, allowing Luke to drive as he pleased without worrying about speeding.

However, it only took a few minutes to reach the lakeside, and to be honest, Luke hadn't had enough fun yet.

But he had serious business to attend to, and there would be time to joyride on the way back.

The car stopped by the roadside, and the two got out with their fishing gear and walked to the lake. The water was crystal clear, seaweed grew by the shore, and a few wild ducks swam by in the distance.

"This way." Manny walked onto a wooden pier that extended into the middle of the lake. The water around the pier was deeper, making it an excellent fishing spot.

Then, Manny opened the fishing tackle and toolbox with practiced motions.

Curious, Luke asked, "Why do you like fishing? It's not really something people your age do."

Manny baited the hook and expertly cast the fishing line, "My mommy is very busy; if she's not dealing with company matters, she's on the phone, and she rarely has time for me.

Actually, it's her who likes fishing, not me.

I just want to be by her side..."

Luke said, "You're making me tear up."

"Cut it out, you're not the type to cry."

"What kind of person do you think I am?"

"I don't know, but definitely not a good person."

"It seems you have quite the prejudice against me." Luke picked up a pebble and casually skipped it across the water.

"You've interrupted my alone time with mommy, which might not mean much to you, but it's precious to me.

Who knows? By the time I get back, she might have already taken the helicopter to the airport, then flown to the other side of the world."

"Sorry, I didn't mean to disrupt you."

Suddenly, the float twitched. Manny stood up and began to pull hard on the fishing rod, "Got a bite.

Tali loves the fish I catch."

"Who is Tali?"

"My mom's pet, a recently spayed female cat."

Luke "..."

"Hey, use the fishing net to help me scoop it up."

Luke picked up the fishing net, walked to the edge of the pier, and bent down to scoop up the fish.

Suddenly, Manny lifted his foot and kicked Luke, sending him directly into the lake.

"Splash."

Luke fell into the water, angrily, "What are you doing?"

Manny laughed, "Idiot, you really thought I couldn't drive.

That's for coming here and causing trouble. Take a nice bath in the lake and make your own way back."

Struggling, Luke seemed to be snagged by the seaweed and sank down.

Manny was stunned too; he only wanted to teach Luke a lesson, not to kill him.

"Hey, Luke, can't you swim?

Answer me, where the heck are you?"

Seeing no movement in the water, Manny started to panic. He knelt on the pier and used the fishing net to try to find Luke, hoping he would grab the net and climb out of the water.

"Fuck!

He's dead.

God, I didn't mean to harm him.

He's so tall, how could he drown?" Manny became increasingly frantic and yelled for help, "Someone, there's a man overboard here!"

Then, there were no other people around.

Manny leaned half of his body over the pier, stretching the fishing net deeper into the lake.

Suddenly, a shadow surfaced underwater, splashing water in Manny's face.

Then, he felt a large hand grab his arm and forcefully drag him down.

"Splash," Manny too fell into the lake.

"Blub..."

Manny flailed his arms desperately, "I can't swim, save me!"

"Save me."

After Luke fell into the lake, he immediately dived to the bottom to observe in secret.

He pulled Manny into the water, while he himself grabbed onto the wooden pier, climbed back up, and sat on the edge, watching Manny struggle in the water.

"I can't swim, save me!"

"Blub blub..." Manny choked on water.

Luke, holding the fishing rod, allowed him to grab onto it, and pulled him to the side of the pier, laughing, "How does it feel to fall into the water?"

Manny, gripping the fishing rod, looked up at Luke who was taunting him from the pier, his anger turning to embarrassment, "You idiot, pull me up quickly."

"It seems you still haven't grasped the situation." Luke laughed and stepped directly on Manny's head, pushing him back into the lake.

"Blub blub..."

No matter how hard Manny struggled, it was in vain. He choked on water again.
