Chapter 61: The End of Spiral Port
Spiral Port was a special place. The port was located underwater, but the Gray Rats were not a marine species.
To prevent seawater from flooding into Spiral Port, the Gray Rats had set up an energy barrier around the underwater port. If this barrier was breached, the seawater would flood into Spiral Port, submerging all the underground tunnels.
This massive influx of water would also cause the sea surface to collapse, dragging everything above into a vortex.
As a result, the pirate ship The Wavebreaker was sucked into the underwater port, spinning uncontrollably in the water as it was pushed by the violent current.
Meanwhile, Rosen, controlling the Bladefin Mouse Shark, swam with ease through the seawater.
Channeling his spiritual energy into the shark's blade fins and empowering them with Death Strike, the Bladefin Mouse Shark used Shadow Walk to teleport into the shadows beneath The Wavebreaker and began attacking the ship's hull with its razor-sharp fins.
The Wavebreaker hastily fired torpedoes, but before they could hit the shark, they were swept away by the flooding seawater.
In the end, The Wavebreaker was trapped in one of the Gray Rats' tunnels, unable to move. This allowed the Bladefin Mouse Shark to relentlessly attack the ship.
Desperate, the pirate captain, Rugter, had no choice but to lead his crew into the water to fight the shark head-on.
Though the pirate sequence excelled in underwater combat, they were no match for the Bladefin Mouse Shark, an extraordinary sea beast born for the ocean.
After a few minutes of fierce fighting, the shark, though heavily injured, managed to use its remote-controlled blade fins to kill several pirates.
The seawater was dyed red with blood, further arousing the shark's bloodlust, and increasing its combat strength even more.
Yet, Rugter was feeling elated.
No other Bladefin Mouse Sharks had appeared, and there were no signs of Gray Rat leaders. This led him to believe that it was likely just a lone Gray Rat leading the shark. In a one-on-one fight, the shark was doomed if it dared to approach him.
But just as Rugter dived into the water, ready to face the Bladefin Mouse Shark, the shark suddenly retreated.
Rosen directed the Bladefin Mouse Shark to a special structure submerged under Spiral Port. The shark rammed into the structure repeatedly at high speed, eventually destroying it.
Through numerous resets of the realm, human extraordinaires had thoroughly explored the terrain of Spiral Port, identifying the best locations for ambushing pirates.
One such location involved destroying the energy barrier, causing seawater to flood the underground port and suck pirate ships down. By triggering the self-destruct device set up by the Gray Rats, the entire Spiral Port could be blown apart and buried underwater.
This was a last-ditch effort, something the Gray Rats would only resort to in the face of absolute defeat.
Normally, a number of human Sequence 7s would benefit from this kind of destruction, but this time, due to the hidden storyline being triggered and the battle between the Gray Rat Ancestor and Baron Kaman, all human extraordinaires were unable to reach Spiral Port's underwater port.
Thus, the benefit of destroying Spiral Port and dragging the pirates down with it was left unclaimed.
As the self-destruct mechanism activated, the entire underwater port began to collapse, burying everything beneath it.
Rugter made a frantic escape, narrowly getting out before the port completely collapsed. However, his pirate ship, The Wavebreaker, along with many of his crew, was buried under the sea.
Rosen and his Bladefin Mouse Shark didn't escape the collapse either, but he had retreated into the Mysterious Study Room ahead of time.
He also stored the Bladefin Mouse Shark inside the Divine Beast Pen, removing the Divine Beast Seal from its soul.
Once the seabed stabilized after the collapse, Rosen tamed a young Sea Rat, an extraordinary creature adept at digging underwater.
Though the Spiral Port had collapsed, many areas still had small gaps remaining. The Sea Rat burrowed through these cracks, retrieving several glowing orbs of loot generated by Rosen's hunting ability.
There weren't many orbs, and most were from the Sequence 8 pirates aboard The Wavebreaker.
Rosen crushed each orb one by one, collecting several extraordinary essences, tens of thousands of units of spiritual crystals, and several extraordinary items from the pirate sequence.
But when he crushed one orb and a miniature model of The Wavebreaker appeared, Rosen's breath caught.
No wonder the Sea Rat hadn't found the wreckage of The Wavebreaker—the hunting ability had converted the entire pirate ship into a lootable item!
In this realm, there was a very low chance for destroyed pirate ships to drop as loot—about 1%.
Even though crossing sequences boosted the loot chance, using Spiral Port's self-destruct mechanism reduced it.
With those odds balancing each other out, obtaining this alchemy pirate ship was nothing short of a miracle.
Even though The Wavebreaker was a relic from two thousand years ago, it still held immense value. The extraordinary materials used in its construction made it far more economical to upgrade the ship than to build a new one from scratch.
Rosen carefully stored away The Wavebreaker and settled into the Mysterious Study Room to wait for the realm to end.
The storyline of the Spiral Sea Battle realm was set to last a month, and now, only two days remained.
With Spiral Port flooded and buried, the remaining thousands of Gray Rats were trapped underground and likely to perish.
In contrast, the human extraordinaires had already prepared for this. Using diving equipment, they waited in the water for the realm to end.
As the realm approached its conclusion, Rosen, learning from his past experiences, donned his diving gear and left the Mysterious Study Room a minute early.
One minute later, the realm's ejection force kicked in, and he, along with the other surviving human extraordinaires, was transported back to the Hunter Guild.
The previously silent hall became instantly chaotic as over a thousand people returned.
Everyone was complaining about Baron Kaman. If he hadn't insisted on hunting the Gray Rat Ancestor, their rewards from the Spiral Sea Battle would have been much greater. After all, without the Gray Rats' help, the human extraordinaires had borne the brunt of fighting the pirates.
Not wanting to risk their lives for minimal reward, many had spent the final days being extremely cautious, resulting in few gains.
Baron Kaman knew he had angered the masses. Clutching his Divine Crystal, he immediately left.
Once he reached Sequence 6 and became a Divine Domain Lord, these people wouldn't even dare to complain about him anymore.
Rosen blended in with the crowd as he left the guild but headed straight for Blazing Shadow City's black market.
His haul from this expedition was massive, and using his real identity to offload it would draw too much attention.
He needed to see if the black market had any extraordinary items capable of concealing his identity.
A new identity wouldn't just make selling his loot safer—it would also allow him to seek guidance from higher-sequence hunters on mastering his hunter sequence's skills, significantly improving the growth of his abilities.
If he reached his spiritual energy cap of 12 points but his hunter sequence skills hadn't reached Level 2, it would delay his advancement to Sequence 8.
