Chapter 3: The Main God Computer
"This is the Spiritual Realm..." Rosen muttered to himself, his hands trembling slightly.
Although Rosen had never personally entered a Spiritual Realm, as a hereditary noble, his ancestors had once possessed one—a realm significant enough to be passed down through the family. Unfortunately, due to generations of overuse, that Spiritual Realm had been destroyed. However, basic knowledge about these realms had been preserved within the family.
Spiritual Realms varied greatly in size. Some were as small as a house, while others contained entire worlds within them. The smaller ones held only inanimate objects, while the larger ones could house entire civilizations and countless living beings.
The key difference between a Spiritual Realm and reality was that, in reality, time and events moved forward without any regression. In contrast, within a Spiritual Realm, once it reached a critical point, time would reset. With each reset, everything inside—whether resources or populations—would be restored.
The Hunter X Hunter manga had transformed into a Spiritual Realm, and without a doubt, it was a large one.
Rosen tried to enter the world sealed within the manga but found himself unable to step into it. The Spiritual Realm provided feedback, explaining why: Hunter X Hunter was incomplete, rendering it an unfinished Spiritual Realm.
There were two ways to enter such a world. The first was to wait for the Spiritual Realm to evolve naturally, a process that could take tens of thousands of years. The second was to merge another Spiritual Realm with it, like assembling pieces of a puzzle, gradually completing and activating the Hunter X Hunter realm.
Rosen had neither the patience to wait thousands of years nor access to another Spiritual Realm. Frustrated, he shoved the manga back onto the shelf and resumed inspecting the mysterious study for any other changes.
Eventually, he approached the computer—one of the two items in the room emitting spiritual energy. Wrapping his spiritual energy around it, Rosen discovered that the computer had transformed into an extraordinary artifact, specifically tailored for someone in the Artist Sequence. By absorbing enough spiritual energy, Rosen could use the computer to create a virtual Spiritual Realm, using spiritual energy as the raw material.
This virtual realm would be akin to a dream version of a true Spiritual Realm. To manifest it into reality, enough spiritual energy had to be infused—whether from one's own continuously regenerating energy, the energy contained in spiritual objects, or even the latent spiritual energy of ordinary people.
Though ordinary people couldn't awaken spiritual energy, all sentient beings possessed a dormant amount. While the virtual Spiritual Realm couldn't allow ordinary people to physically enter, their spiritual consciousness could enter while they slept. A small loss of spiritual energy wouldn't cause permanent harm; at most, they would feel mentally drained and require rest.
Interestingly, repeated use of their latent spiritual energy could stimulate its growth, increasing the likelihood of awakening their spiritual abilities. However, overusing this method could completely deplete their energy, leaving them spiritually empty.
"A man-made God Space..." Rosen murmured, gazing at the luxurious computer setup.
Using this computer to create virtual realms, he could act as a knock-off version of the legendary Main God. While he couldn't grant Reincarnators greater strength or allow them to exchange treasures, he could send them into virtual realms to harvest their spiritual energy.
Even as a counterfeit Main God, Rosen was satisfied. Normally, an artist at Sequence 6 could only create Spiritual Realm worlds through spiritual artworks. Yet, with this extraordinary artifact, even though he was merely Sequence 9, he could achieve a portion of what Sequence 6 artists could do.
Rosen pressed the power button, and the computer booted up instantly, reaching the desktop in under a second. Several program icons appeared on the screen, but most of them wouldn't open. Every time he clicked, a message appeared: "Insufficient spiritual energy to activate."
This made Rosen realize that the computer, now an extraordinary artifact, was not yet at full power. It could absorb spiritual energy and evolve further. Currently, only three icons on the desktop were accessible.
The first icon had Rosen's face on it. Upon clicking, his personal information appeared:
Rosen: Human from the Golden Age
Age: 18
Profession: Noble Sequence 9, Artist Sequence 9, Hunter Sequence 9 (Unactivated)
Extraordinary Essence: (Empty)
Spiritual Energy: 3 (1 from spiritual awakening + 2 from Bloodline Honor)
Bloodline: None
Talent: Bloodline Honor
Innate Ability: Spiritual Attachment LV1
Acquired Abilities: None
Extraordinary Artifacts: Mysterious Study (Unknown), Main God Computer (Sequence 9), Hunter X Hunter Spiritual Realm (Sealed)
"So, it really is a Main God Computer. But the study itself is also an extraordinary artifact?" Rosen muttered, noting the word "Unknown" next to the study. Upon further investigation, he found that he could click to view its detailed attributes.
Opening the Main God Computer's interface, Rosen found instructions on how to create virtual Spiritual Realms and operate the computer. He could either use the keyboard and mouse within the study or, if he left, turn his eyes into display screens and his spiritual thoughts into the mouse and keyboard. The former method required no energy consumption, but the latter would continuously drain his spiritual energy.
Next, Rosen opened the Hunter X Hunter Spiritual Realm, where he found details on how to unlock and complete it. Simply devouring other Spiritual Realms would be the most wasteful method; the optimal approach was to integrate other realms like adding mods to a game, gradually enriching the Hunter X Hunter world and allowing it to evolve infinitely.
Finally, Rosen opened the Mysterious Study Room, where he found a brief introduction. While the grade of the study wasn't mentioned, it stated that as his Sequence level increased, the study's seals would gradually lift, and the Main God Computer would evolve in tandem with his growth. The greatest value of the study, however, lay in its ability to conceal itself from any Sequence abilities. Supposedly, not even a legendary Sequence 0 entity could spy on its contents.
Rosen had been worried that secretly pulling ordinary people into virtual realms might attract the attention of higher Sequence beings, who could use their abilities to track him down. Now, knowing that the study could conceal him, Rosen felt relieved—no one would be able to trace him back to this place.
After examining his other attributes, Rosen found no more surprises. He returned to the desktop and opened the final accessible icon, an entertainment program. It turned out that the previous owner had hired someone to design a desktop program that directly accessed all the movies, comics, and novels stored on the hard drive, sparing the hassle of browsing through hundreds of terabytes of files.
