Lord of the Time: I Can Reincarnate Infinitely

Chapter 459: 459: Passed, Dead

The two of them walked up to the main entrance of the compound: Caleb with his skeletal wings held tight against his back and Leo tensing his muscles, ready to spring into action. "You ready to have some fun, big man?" Caleb grinned.

Leo grinned, cracking his knuckles. "Let's smash some heads."

They moved quickly on, the agility of Caleb complemented with the brute strength of Leo. Reaching the first checkpoint, Caleb launches a swift, precise strike at the guard on the left, knocking him out cold before he can raise the alarm.

Leo barreled through the gate, his bear-like force sending the other guards flying like rag dolls.

As the alarms went off, Caleb withdrew from his belt a small blocker of all local signals, just to postpone the backup. Already in a maelstrom of noise and smoke, Leo drove through the improvised barricades, setting off a wave of destruction, flagging all the security forces within the compound.

Zoey and Ethan, meanwhile, secured the eastern flank, moving in sync within shadows. The strategic mind of Zoey had everything planned out in the routes they would take and how to avoid the patrolling pathways of cameras and security. In due course, Ethan, with his heightened sense, heard the beats and footfalls, maneuvering safely around patrols.

Zoey stopped at a control panel, fingers dancing across the keys as she hacked into the system and started turning off cameras one by one along their path. Ethan was standing guard, his ears flicking at every little far-off sound. They approached the wall quietly, and Zoey drew a set of grappling hooks from the knapsack. With an easy flick, she secured their line to it, and they climbed up quick but quiet. At the top, Ethan peered over, spotting two guards on the other side.

Signaling Zoey, they coordinated a simultaneous takedown, dropping the guards before they could sound the alarm.

They pressed forward to the ground again, Ethan leading with his sharp sense of smell, avoiding another patrol by the narrowest of margins. Zoey, ever the most calculating, noted their patterns and whispered to Ethan, "They change shifts every twenty minutes. We've got a window now." With that knowledge, they slipped past the defenses around the compound and moved more directly toward what they needed, their movements a dance of precision and stealth. It was going off without a hitch; each step well worked out with meticulous care on their part, bringing them closer and closer to where the inside of the compound held its key.

...

Alex and Mia coordinated their approach to the compound from the north side. Alex, with his eagle genes, took to the sky, soaring above the compound to provide aerial surveillance. Mia, whose abilities included enhanced vision and precision shooting, stayed on the ground, using a high-powered scope to scan the area and identify targets for Alex to investigate.

Alex communicated via earpiece, "I've got eyes on two guards near the north tower. Looks like they're heavily armed."

Mia, hidden in the brush, peered through her scope, her eyesight sharp enough to spot a pin from a hundred meters away. "I see them. On your go," she whispered, her finger poised on the trigger of her sniper rifle.

As Alex dove, creating a distraction, Mia took her shot, a silenced bullet whizzing through the air, hitting one guard in the leg, neutralizing the threat without lethal force. As the other guard turned, confused, Alex swooped down, knocking him out with a swift, controlled strike.

They continued this pattern, Alex scouting from above, identifying threats, and Mia neutralizing them with precision. Their progress was swift, with Alex's aerial advantage and Mia's sharpshooting ensuring a clear path towards the compound's main building.

Once all external threats were subdued, Alex landed on the roof of the building, securing a rope for Mia to climb. Together, they entered through a rooftop access door, making their way to the second floor to rendezvous with the rest of the team.

The team regrouped, moving stealthily through the dimly lit corridors. Suddenly, the white-haired teen appeared, his body flickering into visibility momentarily as he lunged, fatally wounding Zoey with a concealed blade before vanishing again.

The team reeled from the sudden attack, but Caleb clicked his tounge focused his spiritual perception, a rare ability that allowed him to sense life force, even when invisible. His eyes narrowed as he concentrated, detecting the faint energy signature of the teen.

Caleb extended his hands, channeling his energy to create a web of gum-like rubber, trapping the invisible teen as he tried to move. The web was dense and adhesive, reacting to the teen's life force, making it impossible for him to escape.

The web ensnared the teen, pulling him into visibility, bound tightly by the sticky strands. Caleb approached.

Caleb, approached the bound white-haired teen, his team close behind, their expressions a mix of shock and rage.

"Start talking, you little shit!" Caleb snarled, standing over the teen, who remained eerily calm, a wide grin plastered on his face.

The teen, caught in the sticky web, looked up at them, his grin unfaltering. "You're qualified to join the UAG," he said cheerfully, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Good luck, kids."

Before Caleb could react, the teen's grin widened, and he bit down hard on something hidden in his mouth. A moment later, his body convulsed slightly, then went limp, his smile frozen in place.

"Fuck!" Caleb exploded, his voice echoing through the silent corridors. "He had a cyanide pill or some shit!"

Leo, reaching forward to check the teen's pulse, confirmed the worst. "He's dead, Caleb. No questioning him now." Experience more tales on My Virtual Library Empire

Mia, her face pale, muttered, "He was a dead man walking, ready to die rather than spill anything."

The team stood there, frustration and disbelief clouding their features. Ethan punched the wall, a growl of anger escaping him. "So, that's it? He just offs himself and leaves us with nothing?"

Sarah, usually composed, looked visibly shaken. "He knew. He knew we were coming and planned this from the start."

Alex, staring down at the lifeless body of their enemy, spoke up, "He was just a pawn of the management of UAG to test us. It seems we passed the test but Zoey is dead unfortunately."
