Chapter 419: 419: Center of the Island

Caleb nodded, his gaze fixed on the fiery landscape ahead as he addressed Ed and Mic.

"Yeah, this is the center of the island," he confirmed, his voice tinged with a mix of determination and caution. "And you're right, there are volcanoes everywhere."

Ed scratched his head, a puzzled expression on his face. "But why are there so many volcanoes on an island?" he wondered aloud, his brow furrowed in thought. "Doesn't really make sense, does it?"

Caleb's lips curved into a wry smile as he considered Ed's question. "Actually, it does," he explained, his tone calm and matter-of-fact. "You see, this island is located on a tectonic hotspot—a place where the Earth's crust is thinner and magma from the mantle can easily rise to the surface."

Mic nodded in understanding, her eyes bright with curiosity. "So, basically, the volcanoes are formed when magma erupts through the Earth's crust," she summarized, her voice tinged with fascination.

Caleb nodded, impressed by Mic's grasp of the concept. "Exactly," he agreed. "And because this island is situated on a tectonic hotspot, it's prone to frequent volcanic activity."

As they spoke, the ground rumbled beneath their feet, a reminder of the powerful forces at work beneath the surface.

"But why did we come to the center of the island?" Ed asked, his gaze sweeping over the rugged terrain.

Caleb's expression grew serious as he explained their mission. "We're here because this is where the Flame Heart treasure is said to be located," he revealed, his voice low and intense. "Legend has it that it's guarded by the most powerful Extraordinary Beast on the island."

Ed and Mic exchanged glances, the gravity of their situation sinking in.

"So, we're basically walking into the lion's den," Mic remarked, her voice filled with a mix of apprehension and excitement.

Caleb nodded, his eyes blazing with determination. "Exactly," he agreed. "But if we want to claim the Flame Heart treasure and prove ourselves as true elites."

Caleb furrowed his brow as he surveyed their surroundings, his mind racing with questions. He turned to Ed and Mic, seeking their opinions.

"Everything here seems to be muddled, doesn't it?" he mused, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "What do you guys think?"

Ed glanced around, his expression thoughtful. "Yeah, it's like the whole area is pulsating with energy," he observed, his eyes narrowing as he took in the volcanic landscape. "But it feels... off somehow."

Mic nodded in agreement, her brow furrowed in concentration. "I agree. It's like the very air is charged with tension," she added, her voice barely above a whisper. "I can feel it prickling against my skin."

Caleb nodded, a sense of unease settling over him like a heavy cloak. "And what about the Flame Heart?" he continued, his gaze turning toward the heart of the volcanic activity. "Hasn't it absorbed the flame essence in this area? How and why?"

Ed shrugged, his expression puzzled. "I'm not sure," he admitted, his tone tinged with frustration. "But if the Flame Heart is as powerful as they say, it's possible that it could draw energy from the surrounding environment to sustain itself."

Mic nodded thoughtfully, her mind racing with possibilities. "That would make sense," she agreed, her eyes alight with curiosity. "But it also raises more questions about what we're dealing with here."

As they pondered the mysteries surrounding them, Caleb's sharp eyes caught sight of movement in the distance. He narrowed his gaze, focusing on the distant figures that seemed to be approaching.

"There seems to be a team about five kilometers from us," he remarked, his voice low but urgent. "Who are they?"

Ed squinted, trying to make out the distant figures. "Hard to say from here," he admitted, his brow furrowed in concentration. "But we should be cautious. They could be friend or foe."

Mic nodded in agreement, her hand instinctively moving to the hilt of her weapon. "Agreed," she said, her voice firm and resolute. "Let's keep our guard up until we know for sure."

Caleb glanced between Ed and Mic, weighing their options carefully as they discussed their next move.

"Should we conduct a pre-approach to them?" he asked, his voice low but decisive. "Isn't it dangerous to approach the last four teams?"

Ed nodded in agreement, his expression serious. "Yeah, it could be risky," he admitted, his eyes scanning the horizon for any signs of movement. "But we need to gather information somehow. We can't afford to be caught off guard."

Mic chewed her lip thoughtfully, considering their options. "What if they attack us as soon as they see us?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern. "This is the final stage, everyone wants to eliminate each other. What do you guys think?"

Caleb frowned, his mind racing with possibilities. "We need to be prepared for anything," he replied, his tone firm and resolute. "But we can't let fear hold us back. We need to approach with caution and be ready to defend ourselves if necessary." Experience tales at My Virtual Library Empire

As they continued their discussion, Caleb's sharp eyes caught sight of the distant figures once again. He squinted, trying to make out their movements.

"They seem to be looking for something," he observed, his brow furrowed in concentration. "Are they moving in a pattern?"

Ed followed Caleb's gaze, his expression thoughtful. "It looks like it," he agreed, his eyes narrowing as he tried to discern the pattern. "But what could they be searching for in this volcanic landscape?"

Mic's mind raced with possibilities as she watched the distant figures. "Maybe they're searching for some kind of landmark or clue," she suggested, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "But whatever it is, we need to be cautious. They could be setting a trap."

Ed nodded in agreement, his gaze never wavering from the distant figures. "Agreed," he said, his voice firm and resolute. "Let's approach them carefully, but be ready for anything. We can't afford to let our guard down in this final stage of the trial."

"No matter what. Don't worry excessively. I'm here you know." With a glint in his eyes, he sent his shadow assistants secretly to the direction where the other team was.
