Lord of Cosmos

Chapter 147: The First Wave

The humans shouted loudly and began to gather the remaining firearms in the camp. Those who were not so lucky began to gather iron handles, iron bats, large knives, and any metal object that could affect the machines. After that, the army mobilized its planes, tanks, and cars and headed to the city center to join the rest of the soldiers. The crowds of the public followed them, shouting with enthusiasm and singing war and patriotic songs in preparation. As for Ares, he set off to join his comrades, who were in the midst of a fierce battle with the machines. Ares landed his huge machines in the middle of the battle and saved Noor, Keno, Sairi, and Ivanov, and transported them to the battle headquarters and the soldiers. As they were riding the huge robots, heading toward the army headquarters, Ares told them everything that the head of CITRA, Khaled, had told him. And only then did they become sure that what Gaia had said carried a lot of truth and that they were now just moving puppets in Gaia and Gladious's war.

After a few minutes, they reached the headquarters, landed, and found the soldiers running in all directions, loading their weapons, preparing the cannons and missiles, loading the weapons, and organizing the crowds of people who had volunteered to fight. Noor looked at the large crowds of people and said, "Who brought them here?"

Ares laughed with pride. "And who do you think would bring them, my dear?"

Noor smiled and felt a glimmer of hope, but he knew that this battle would decide everything and that it would not be easy at all. It might even become the greatest battle that humans had ever fought in their history for survival.

The generals planned the area where they would fight the battle and decided to take a position in one of the large squares so that it would be easy to take down and snipe the machines, because narrow street fighting would exhaust them and would be in the robots' favor.

The soldiers prepared the armored vehicles and blocked the width of the square with them, loading heavy firearms on top of them. Meanwhile, the snipers stood on top of the buildings with soldiers carrying rocket launchers, and dozens of helicopters flew above them in preparation for the approach of any air attack, while the warplanes did not take off until the battle intensified. As for the middle of the square, it was occupied by Noor, Ares, Keno, and two other soldiers in the huge robots to block the machines well. Sairi and Ivanov decided to fight with their hands instead of using these huge machines, so they stood in front of the crowd of people who were armed with iron bats and other weak weapons and decided to lead this large crowd when the firearms failed to repel the robots.

Fear was the theme of the day, and the people stood, sweating, holding their weapons with trembling hands, and waiting for the robots on pins and needles until this tension that was flowing in the atoms of the air and penetrating their minds and hearts like a thousand sharp needles was over.

Gaia advanced, and on his way, he met the giant Odin and saw him attacking the robots. Gaia raised his hand and aimed it at him. Dozens of trees came out and surrounded Odin, tying him up until he was unable to move. Gaia advanced with the pharaoh robot and stood in front of him. "I sheltered you when you fled from your planet. Is this how you repay my kindness? You have caused me a lot of trouble and losses."

"Is this how you treat your people for the sake of the lust for power?" Odin said with great anger. "And what is the difference between you and those you fled from?"

"The difference is that I do not do this for the love of power and prestige, but for a greater purpose that you will not understand. And now, stay here until I return to you after I finish this war."

The calm continued to dominate the square, except for the sound of the helicopters that were shaking the layers of the air. After half an hour of tension and fear, the humans heard the sound of the machines' footsteps as they approached, and their hearts pounded with every step they heard. After that, they heard the wings of the robotic bees beating the air, so Noor and his companions prepared well and readied the firearms in their huge machines in preparation for hunting the largest number of bees.

At the same moment, Margoth stood on a distant hill, watching the battle, his swords flying behind him, and behind him, thousands of soldiers. Next to him were three of the strongest members of the Enix—who had defended Atlantis when it first fell—and their decision was not to intervene until the right time, when everything was in their favor.

Noor stood, watching the robots approach, gripping the control stick, his hand sweating from tension. Suddenly, hundreds of robotic bees charged. Noor and his companions aimed the cannons of the huge robots at them and began to fire thousands of bullets at the sky. Meanwhile, those on the ground from the soldiers got ready and began to fire from the heavy machine guns, while the anti-aircraft missiles were launched, hunting what they could of the bees. And the helicopters were bombarding them with missiles and bullets until the sky became like a hellfire burning at that moment. The bees dodged what they could, but the fire was everywhere, and it was impossible for them to escape this fierce attack. So they relied on their large numbers and continued to charge and fall endlessly. And it was only a few minutes until the small robots arrived and came out from between the buildings into the square by the hundreds and began to fire at the huge robots and the soldiers hiding behind the cannons and cars.

Noor left the sky and turned his weapons toward the robots. He fired bullets from the huge robot's fingers, and Keno aimed the cannons at the robot's torso at them, hunting them one after another. From the robot's hand, he fired yellow thermal rays that melted everything they touched. As for Ares, he produced two cannons from above the robot's shoulders and fired shells, while he showered them with a volley of bullets from his robot's fingers. The robots continued to fall one after another. But the bees, after the fire from the huge robots had subsided, were able to maneuver, go deeper, and get a little closer. They soon began to attack and shoot down the human planes and some of the soldiers. But the sky continued to thunder with the sounds of bullets and cannons that shot down many of the bees like flies, but this was not enough to repel this large number. And soon, the huge robotic spiders appeared and stormed the square. Noor felt a shiver run through his body, as he still remembered how he had taken one of them down with his hands with great difficulty. Noor began to turn the robot's hand into a cannon and fired shells at the spiders, destroying three of them. But more were coming out from between the buildings, so one of the soldiers—who was riding a huge robot—drew a blue thermal sword from the robot's leg and headed toward the spiders and clashed with them, swinging his sword, cutting them, and trying to delay them a little. Keno aimed his thermal rays at the spiders while his cannons were taking down the annoying small robots. Ares unleashed his robot and produced small rockets of huge effect from his wrist and fired them at the buildings. They collapsed on top of the machines, destroying hundreds and dozens of robots and spiders. But the surprises continued to come as Gaia's huge, distinctively silver robots advanced.

"Is there no end to these accursed ones?" Noor said with annoyance.

Keno said in a gloomy tone, "This is only the first wave, meaning it represents 30% of the army."
