Chapter 74: Dummy 3
Ragnar was shocked to see all the goblins he had slain sprinting towards him at abnormal speed.
Three of the undead goblins lunged at him before he could even understand what was happening. They let out low gutteral growl as they bared they fangs at him.
"Fucking hell!"
Ragnar immediately fell back to evade the attacks of two undead goblins. Before swinging his sword at the one that attacked from the front.
|| You've slayed X1 undead goblin, XP +62 ||
Before Ragnar could even recover his composure from the goblin he had just slain. The other two who missed their initial attacks let out frustrated growls and rocketed at him.
Since they were nearby. They were able to complete the distance pretty easily. One of them even managed to leave a cut on Ragnar shoulder before it was slashed to death by Ragnar blade.
"They are insanely fast." Ragnar muttered as he quickly slashed the other one.
Before the corpse of the third undead goblin fell on the ground, plenty other undead goblins lunged at him once again.
Ragnar furrowed his gaze and clenched his blade. He charged at the group of undead goblins with fierceness, brutally slashing through the ranks of undead goblins.
At the same time, the two stone golems joined Ragnar in smashing the undead goblins to bits. Although it took Ragnar frequent commands to control them, they were still of much help. With every goblin they smashed to death, they gained which XP for their master who was engaged with lots of undead goblins who only targeted him. Even ignoring the golems as though they were insignificant. A few of them ran past the golems without attacking.
Coordinated, Ragnar blade did not waver.
The undead goblins strength and speed were were doubled. since they did not feel or fear pain, they attacked brutally with no single care in the world.
Fortunately, they were all still below his level so it wasn't that difficult to kill them.
But after a few minutes of slashing through their ranks and his golems smashing them to death. Ragnar quickly noticed that some of the slain undead goblins, especially those slain by his blade, were beginning to rise up once more to attack him.
"Those damn goblin necromancers!" Ragnar cussed with hatred and frustration.
If the Hamlet was unlucky enough not to have him with them. Even if they were to slay the goblin warriors, spell casters and archers by themselves. The necromancer would make it difficult for them to succeed in clearing them out.
Luckily, the undead goblins seem to be focusing on him alone.
It gave Ragnar the opportunity to send one of his golem towards the bush he had located the goblin necromancer while the other assisted him in taking care of the stubborn undead goblins.
As the stone golem sent after the goblin necromancer drew closer to their hiding point. The usual chains rose up from the ground and bounded the movement of the stone golem.
|| Your stone golem has been trapped ||
"Damnit, just how many of them are hiding within that push?" Ragnar cussed. "And how are they managing to keep two incredibly strong spells active at the same time?"
Since one of his stone golem was now trapped, another plan arose in his mind.
Meanwhile, at the same time, his other allies were engaged with the goblins warriors.
Roger and Kendrick could be seen fighting side by side.
Alone, fighting a single goblin warrior was tedious. Nevertheless, with combined strength, they were able to survive the onslaught with ease.
Also, as they tore through the goblin warriors, after each kill, they could feel a faint revitalizing sensation. It was unexplainable as they had never felt something so vivid and ethereal before.
Not too far away from them, Old man james became a nightmare to the goblins that dared attack him. His blade swings were lethal and graceful, like a swordman who had trained for decades, which was true.
His speed weren't that agile but the lethality of his blade could not be joked with. Even against a pair of goblins attacking at the same time, he emerged victorious.
Nonetheless, he was nothing compared to Noah.
"CHEE!"
The goblins ran away from him. They could not attack him unless they were in groups of two or trees. And even at that, it took a couple of effortless swing from Noah blade to obliterate them.
"My strength had indeed increased." Noah noted with a smile as he kicked the corpse of a goblin away from him. "Although these goblins have the same strength as the one we slayed at that hideout, killing them have become several times easier."
He had grown used to the feeling of his strength increasing after every kill. But his current prowess still elated him. With this pace, it wouldn't be long before he obtained his ambitious title of sword king.
As Noah cleared the group of goblin warriors that targeted him, his eyes darted towards Ragnar. Seeing the scene involving his friend, a confused expression appeared on his face.
"That goblin head is missing but it is still moving! That other one is missing two arms with a clear stab wound in its chest and it is not dead?" Noah tried to understand the situation.
Nevertheless, the more he tried, the more difficult it became to understand it.
Stretching his gaze, he spotted one of the golem was trapped. It was the same trap that had caught the stone golems when they went to clear the goblins hideout.
"Ragnar needs my help!" He muttered to himself.
Not wasting a single moment, Noah charged away from the midst of the goblin warrior fight and ran towards Ragnar. He slayed all the goblin warriors that attempted to block his path.
Once he arrived beside Ragnar, he stabbed his sword into the chest of one of the undead goblins.
However, to his greatest surprise, the goblin did not react in pain as it should. Instead, it swept its sharp claws in the air and aimed for his head. Noah was lucky enough to duck before the claws reached him.
"Sever the neck. It's the only way to kill them," Ragnar warned, spotting Noah struggling against his opponent.
Following Ragnar's instruction, Noah swung his sword and decapitated his opponent. Only then did the body fall to the ground.
Noah sprinted closer to Ragnar and began assisting him with the waves of undead goblins. A few of the undead goblins formerly targeting Ragnar halted their movements and turned in Noah's direction. The necromancer hidden in the bushes had marked him as their new threat.
"What the heck is wrong with these goblins? Why are they refusing to die?" Noah asked in a frustrated tone.
Ragnar responded and explained the situation to him. After hearing his explanation, Noah grew even more frustrated.
Most of the undead goblins he managed to kill would fall, but after a few minutes, they would rise up and lunge at him again. It soon became a repeated and boring cycle.
While Noah could still feel his strength increasing after repeatedly slaying the same set of undead goblins over and over again, he couldn't help but grow tired.
Also, unlike normal goblins, these undead were crazier since they didn't feel pain. It was both dangerous and tiresome to continue fighting them.
"The goblin necromancers are hidden within that bush over there," Ragnar said, directing Noah's gaze to their enemies' hideout. "We have to act smartly in order not to fall into their traps."
"What are your plans?" Noah asked. He had great trust in Ragnar's ability to come up with a new plan.
Ragnar opened up and shared the plans he had in mind with Noah. With the new plan in mind, the two of them lashed out at their opponents with even more ferocity.
|| You've run out of MP; stone golems would now be deactivated. || Onyx's voice sounded in Ragnar's head.
The stone golems' movements halted, and the faint blue veins on their bodies stopped glowing right away. Ragnar didn't react to the situation as he already expected it. Instead, he focused his strength on the undead goblins. The few of them who were previously attacking the golems latched onto him and increased his workload.
At the same time, the last goblin warrior was felled by Kendrick.
Standing in the midst of dozens of goblin warrior corpses, the eyes of the three of them were tilted in the direction of Ragnar and Noah.
They had the same reaction as Noah when he first discovered the undead goblins.
With clearer sight and focus since no goblin warriors were attacking them or standing in their way, they could see several goblins rising up from the ground in bizarre manners and lunging at the two of them.
They witnessed Ragnar and Noah slaying some of them, but after only a few minutes, they rose up once more and attacked like they were never injured.
"They are..." Old Man James muttered in confusion. "
