Lightning Doesn't Strike Twice!

Chapter 22

How do you show your face around here? You keep coming back haunting me. This time I'm going to make sure I put you down. 

I've been repressing everything, but it finally started to come to the surface. I had made an effort to control my emotions and feelings. I was at my breaking point; I demanded blood, I wanted to destroy this monster. I need to cleanse myself from all the curses he had to defile upon me.

Kaysi I understand how furious you must be at the moment. If Baby and Beck aren't here, they're clearly in danger, therefore we have to hurry and get them. Even though you might not be expressing it at this moment, I can tell you're in pain. Because your mom abandoned you when you were in your time of need, I get it you miss her. It doesn't help that coincides with this monster's existence happened all at the same time. But your fixation on this creature won't make your mom and home return.

No, you don't get it is, not just a stupid house a part of my problem that can be replaced. When we went our separate ways earlier in school today my brother called me. He told me about how mom when she saw the house burning left feeling defeated and ready to give up, we just barely got out of debt and she couldn't handle the stress. 

My mother had called my brother and told him about how she had left. He calmed her down and then she decided she wanted to turn around not wanting to leave me in despair. She turned around while on the phone with my brother after she was hit by a semi-truck that killed her on impact. 

Micah gasped, why do you keep bottling these things up within and not saying anything?

I was numb I didn't know what I was feeling let alone how to express my feelings to any of you. My mother and I fought so much that I felt I almost hated her. Now we never get the chance to repair that relationship. I never get to fight her or see her again. 

If it wasn't for this monster none of this would have happened. I learned if this monster wanted to keep coming to hunt me everywhere I go. So be it I'm going to put an end to this so no more lives are destroyed. 

Ahhhh..... I screamed as I hurled my sword clenched in my fists attacking his arm as I did once before. 

This time I wanted to sever it. With tears rolled down my face as I screamed. I craved my way through its wing. 

The pain made the Phoenix scream and he released a hot fiery burst of energy and raised his wing as I sliced through his left wing. 

It tried to shake me off but I didn't care anymore. My whole body was numb to the pain of the flames. I grabbed a hold of his feathers clinging to it and dugging my sword deeper through his bone. He whipped them back and forth through the air. The Flames grew hotter and hotter. 

Then drilling his beak into my arm grasping it as he pulled me away from him. Sending me flying towards Micah. 

She had released her weapon as she was getting ready for battle. His futile attempt to help as I slammed into her sending us both hauling backward and crashing to the ground. 

The Phoenix's wing came crashing to the ground, I had at last severed it. As he pulled me off and sent me flying I made sure to deeply dig in one last time. 

This infuriated the Beast the grass was drying up and charring from the intense heat of the flames. Parts of the grass and trees began to catch on fire and burn to ash. The Beast was charging up getting ready for another attack. 

I won't let it hurt us I said as I stood up sharply ready for another attack. I'm going to cut this beast down once and for all. 

In one quick motion, it snapped its remaining wing sending fire sweeping towards us as it ran through its flames at full speed seeking to gore us with its beak. 

We were pushed back down by the blast right before it launched its attack. I was already vulnerable because of the earlier assault. Were we going to perish and this was the best I could do? 

As the Beast was a few feet from us a giant wall of ice formed through the blast of flames freezing everything in sight. Snow was blistering through the air. The clouds darkened in the sky. 

I squinted in hesitation as the fire was crashing through the wall of ice. The cold settling over me I was coming to the full realization of what transpired. I opened my eyes to see what occurred. 

Standing before us was Beck she had unlocked this new omnipotent power within her. 

The demon Phoenix shrieked from the ice blistering and almost smothering its flames. 

The ice being its weakness must have caused great damage. It fleed this time instead of flying off like normal. A large dark portal with Black Lightning and Malice spewing from it opened and swallowed up the creature. 

Okay, I think it's safe now Beck said sighing in relief as she turned to us. The ice wall slowly started to melt. Also so did her new form. Unlike our other powers that we had with our swords and protection barriers. This power seemed to have transformed her appearance as well. 

Her red curly hair at the ends had iced tips like frosted snow. Her eyes had darkened with shadowing. The skin had become pale and her lips darkened to a purple but yet there were no traces of frostbite or lasting effects as she dissolved back to normal. 

Kaysi, she said as she leaned over and grabbed a hold of me helping me to my feet. I'm sorry for everything that happened; to you and how I acted earlier when we were at school. 

I don't know if you know this but that creature took your form as a body double. He was pretending to be you. He had said some pretty nasty things but yet they lined up a bit with some of my actions. I don't know how long this creature has been following us. He seems to know some of our interactions. 

That said, I want to tell both of you guys that, deeply I'm sorry for any trouble I caused. Also at any time, I tried to control things taking matters into my own hands. 

No. Kaysi I can't talk for Beck, but I don't feel that way I know that you're just trying to protect us. You've already lost so much. Oh and where were you Beck by the way? 

Earlier when you said to split up I went looking in the other direction for Baby. I found her with some injuries in the woods. That creature had followed our spiritual energy here and was able to infiltrate the barrier. When I found this out I went looking for you guys to try and warn you. 

When I came close I heard Kaysi's screams and her story of what happened to her mother, that's how I knew where you guys were located. I heard your Echoes amongst the trees. And as I drew closer I could feel the heat of the flames. Something seemed to start manifesting within me. 

I don't know how it happened or where it came from all I know is I saw the wall of flames getting ready to collide until you guys and I attempted to put up a barrier, but this time it became ice. 

Oh wow well, at least we know what your power is now and how it somewhat works. I believe it came to be when you thought to protect us. The same goes as when my sword came out. 

Now that you say something it is like the same thing that happened during the training with Baby when she attempted to attack you guys to provoke me. I guess she knew all along that protection was key to manifesting these powers. That also must be the reason why she said it'll come when time calls for it. 

Right Micah, I think it's time that we head back gather Baby with us and head home. We need to get some rest. 

I understand that you don't want to go to the hospital cause you've been many times but we're going to need to do something with those wounds, Beck said jokingly. I'm sure you still have some of your bandages and medicine left over from the last burns. 

Beck, you should have since Kaysi, she was a beast herself. She took that phoenix demon winged off almost with one swipe. When she couldn't get all the way through she grabbed a hold of it and tore the rest away through it before it set her flying. At least now we don't have to worry about that thing flying around after us. 

Oh wow dang, Kaysi I remember to stay far away when you're in a bad mood again. (We all laughed) 

On the left side, Beck was helping support me and Micah was on my right as we dragged ourselves out back. Micah only had a small burn on her leg. I was very banged up so we were not moving very fast. 

We met up with Baby as she was near the entrance and headed back to Becky's home. 

As Micah was helping treat my wounds Baby began to speak and tell us everything that had happened in further detail. 

Something else that I needed to add and tell you girls. It seems to be evident that there is an uprising that is going on. Between the increase of demons and global seismic events. I fear that there is coming a great revelation. That we all need to start preparing for.
