Light Devil Fruit in Tales of Demons and Gods

Chapter 3: 3. New Identity

"Extreme Yang Body?" Ye Xiao muttered, his brow furrowed. As a man of extensive knowledge and insight, he understood the implications of such a rare constitution.

The Snow Wind Family had access to vast resources and ancient knowledge that commoners could only dream of. While this body type might have appeared in history, it likely went unnoticed due to a lack of understanding or documentation.

"Physicians, I must request that you keep everything that happened here today a secret. My son has just recovered, and I do not want him to attract unnecessary attention. I will personally report this matter to the City Lord and the elders when the time is right," Ye Xiao said firmly. The tension between Glory City and the Dark Guild was escalating, and putting his son in the spotlight would only increase the risks.

"You can trust us, Master Ye Xiao. We will not breathe a word of this to anyone," Physician An assured him with a smile before bowing. The other two physicians nodded in agreement, understanding the gravity of the situation.

"Good. We'll discuss this matter further another day," Ye Xiao said, watching the physicians retreat from the room. Now, only Ye Xiao, Ye Xinghan, and the maid remained.

Ye Xiao turned to his son, his expression softening. "Xinghan, do you truly not remember who I am?" he asked gently, patting his son's head. Though it pained him that his child no longer recognized him, Ye Xiao was grateful that Xinghan had survived at all.

Ye Xinghan shook his head honestly. There was no need to act.

"I don't know who I am, who you are, where we are, or anything about the accident you mentioned. Everything is a blank to me."

Ye Xiao sighed deeply, then began to explain. "My name is Ye Xiao. I am your father. You also have a mother, Lu Yingmei, and a younger sister, Ye Qingyu. Unfortunately, they cannot meet you right now," he said with a faint, awkward laugh.

He continued, "We live in Glory City, the last fortress of humanity. The strongest family in the city is our Snow Wind Family, followed by two other major families, seven noble families and twelve aristocratic families. The current City Lord is my elder brother, Ye Zong, and the strongest practitioner in the city is my father—your grandfather—Ye Mo."

As Ye Xiao spoke, Ye Xinghan's eyes widened in realization. Glory City, Snow Wind Family, Ye Zong, Ye Mo… These were all familiar names.

This was the world of Tales of Demons and Gods! And from the details Ye Xiao provided, it was clear that his current identity made him the cousin of Ye Ziyun, the main female lead of the story.

Still, Ye Xinghan felt confused. He didn't recall any mention of Ye Xiao, Lu Yingmei, or Ye Qingyu in the original series.

Perhaps they were minor characters excluded from the main plotline, or their presence had simply been overlooked. Either way, he decided not to dwell on it too much.

Reflecting on the earlier questioning by the physicians, he thought to himself, If they had mentioned these names earlier, I wouldn't have taken so long to piece things together.

"Looks like you haven't completely lost your memories," Ye Xiao said with a smile, noticing the flicker of recognition in his son's eyes. This gave him a faint hope that Xinghan might eventually recover fully.

"Yes," Ye Xinghan replied with a nod. "I remember terms like demon spiritualist, Holy Orchid Institute, and the Bronze to Legend ranks. I know about all that."

"Good," Ye Xiao said, visibly relieved. "But let me ask—do you remember anything about the accident?"

Ye Xinghan hesitated briefly before asking, "What exactly happened in this accident you mentioned?"

Ye Xiao sighed deeply, his expression darkening. "It was my failure as your father. The entire event was orchestrated by the Dark Guild. That's all I can tell you for now. It's not safe for you to know everything just yet. I hope you can trust my judgment."

"Alright, I think that's enough for today. I'm afraid you'll feel overwhelmed if I tell you too much at once. Rest well, son. I need to inform your mother about your recovery," Ye Xiao said, retreating from the room.

He had many tasks ahead: gathering information, searching for a suitable cultivation technique for his son, and more.

Ye Xinghan watched his father's figure until he disappeared.

Tales of Demons and Gods… This was a world of cultivation, no less dangerous than One Piece. Here, the laws of survival were brutal: kill or be killed, survival of the fittest.

Still, compared to his previous transmigration into One Piece, his starting point here seemed more advantageous.

At least, he had some foundation to build on. Yet, he understood that this didn't mean he could relax. The ultimate threats in this world were far more terrifying than anything in One Piece.

Worse, he couldn't rely too heavily on Nie Li, the protagonist, as he didn't know what timeline he had been thrown into.

If this was the timeline where Nie Li had already reincarnated into his younger self, things would be manageable.

But if this was a timeline where Nie Li was still powerless, it would be a disaster for Ye Xinghan.

Ye Xinghan wasn't a pessimist, but neither was he naive. He knew that survival without Nie Li's cooperation would be a nearly impossible challenge.

To make matters worse, unlike other transmigrators, Ye Xinghan lacked heaven-defying cheats like mind-reading abilities or systems such as the Library of Heaven's Path.

Additionally, when he transmigrated into the One Piece world, the Tales of Demons and Gods novel was still ongoing. His knowledge of this world was limited, thanks to the author, Mad Snail, who truly lived up to his name—both crazy and slow.

"Maybe I should try my luck with the Temporal Demon Spirit Book?" Ye Xinghan wondered, though he wasn't particularly confident about it.

The Temporal Demon Spirit Book was an artifact with its own intelligence, always seeking its destined master. The last known person to gain its approval was Nie Li.

If Ye Xinghan ventured to the Endless Desert, there was no guarantee that the book wouldn't hide itself from him.

"Forget it. There's no point in thinking about overpowering the final boss when I can't even defeat a low-ranked demon beast yet," Ye Xinghan muttered.

Then his thoughts shifted to his unique body constitution. "Come to think of it, this Extreme Yang Body… Did I awaken it because I ate the devil fruit? According to cultivation common sense, light corresponds to Yang energy. And as a Logia devil fruit user, by One Piece logic, no one should be able to touch me unless they have Armament Haki."

Ye Xinghan stroked his chin, analyzing his situation. Then, he turned to the maid standing silently by his bedside.

"You. Can you get me books on alchemy, arrays, and cultivation techniques? Oh, and don't forget a dictionary for ancient languages," Ye Xinghan ordered.

"Yes, young master!" the maid responded promptly before leaving to fulfill his request.
