Chapter 465: Leon appears
Aelthar didn't know how much time had passed.
How many minutes or hours slipped by while his torture kept going.
The only memory occupying his mind amidst the shallow breaks between nonstop moments of pain and punches - was regret.
(I shouldn't have stopped this mortal.)
(I should've saved that girl.)
(I should've given him my legacy after I saw that vision.)
(I should've…..)
(I should've…)
(I should've….)
The regretful thoughts kept flashing through his blurry sanity, stopping only when another punch landed on his skull, forcing his face to switch to the other side, and start another thought.
Rio's flaming fist wrapped in the thorny whip collided against Aelthar's head, spraying pieces of his shattered skull in the air.
Even the soul shattering chain bought from the system, was broken after such a long time, and Rio had simply stopped using it as a whip - but wrapped it's broken parts over his fingers and turned them into a boxing instrument.
Though this caused the painful effects of this artifact to diminish, the number of hits landing on Aelthar had increased several times, _ so the god didn't know whether it was a good thing or not.
Even his entire being was numb from pain, the previous thoughts of superiority, of pride, or humiliation, or even anger and revenge - everything had disappeared from his mind, and now he just wanted to stop this nightmare.
How he wished his soul could suddenly rest in peace.
But alas what greeted him next second, - was just another punch.
If Rio agreed to let him live, he was even willing to swear loyalty or let go of any hate/anger for all eternity - yet the maniac mortal was still too lost in his muzzy memories to care for the god.
Even the various gods gathered in the sky outside had grown numb and started feeling bored or disappointed _ before disappearing one by one.
After all, watching one of their own fall so low was not exactly a pleasant sight.
..
"Aren't you going to call him or calm him down?" Mara asked, raising her head to look at Nyx, who stood still as a statue, her unwavering gaze fixed on her avatar.
"I can tell he's not in the right state of mind, maybe if you…"
"Mind your own business."
Mara was still speaking when Nyx shut her off coldly. And the goddess of frost couldn't help but sneer in response. Her fierce gaze chilling the atmosphere all around.
Yet the primordial night ignored this tantrum like nothing.
Nyx's entire attention was focused on Rio.
What Mara and other gods could see, of course she'd notice too.
But while everyone else was more curious about his powers and his 'sick' personality, she wanted to know the reason behind his outburst.
Her eyes flickered towards the unconscious girl, protected under a golden barrier, and remained there for some time.
Her thoughts were unknown to Mara, but with that cold glare scanning Katherine, _ how could she not know it wasn't anything good for her avatar.
"You better keep your eyes off. Try to touch what's mine and I'll freeze all your followers." Mara threatened in a cold tone, making Nyx finally avert her eyes.
Both goddesses stared at each other, coldness flickering through their pupils _ making the surrounding space tremble with just their aura.
Their sudden changes made many other gods doubt if they'd ignore the rules too and start a fight too _ their eyes couldn't help but light up in anticipation for this new excitement – but to everyone's disappointment _ something happened in the dungeon, which pulled both their attention away.
Ending this frightening farce at an unsatisfying note.
(Tsk, it would've been fun if they fought.)
(Chhe, where did this ant come from? Ruined the whole mood.)
(I was just getting turned on by this torture, who's this idiot interrupting my self pleasure?)
(Damn it, isn't this the perverted boy who wears girl's clothes for fun? What a nuisance.)
Leon's sudden appearance in the battlefield had many different reactions among the audience.
Maybe it was the protagonist's aura of mockery or maybe it was his bad timing _ but no one was happy with it.
…
At the land, some time ago
Leon, who had already led every survivor to the exit portal, couldn't bring himself to leave and turned back in.
He didn't come back for the legacy, or the trial, or any power up - but for Katherine.
After all, how could a hero leave his heroine behind?
Especially the one who's going to be his fiancee soon.
"Just wait for me, Katherine. I'm coming." He muttered with bated breath, speeding towards the center of the dungeon.
Finding her location wasn't tough, as no matter where he stood, or what path he took _ he could hear the constant screams and explosions among the sound of battle.
But when he finally reached the place, his steps came to a halt.
He couldn't help but stand there frozen, stunned, and maybe even bewildered _ looking at the sight in front of him.
The surprise that scene brought him was even sharper than the constant shouts of Apollo in his mind.
The chilling screams, drowning any other sound.
Leon watched a bright figure nailed to the ground with a stone spear, _ his arms gone and legs crippled.
"Is that ….?"
A thought came to his mind, but it felt so astonishingly unbelievable that he couldn't wrap his brain around it.
But no matter how much his sane thoughts tried to deny it, Apollo's words of agreeance echoed and etched it true.
"This is for showing me that damned vision."
"...for being stubborn and hiding my legacy."
"...for hurting her."
"....for killing her."
"....Arghhh."
Every time Rio's words ended, what followed was a fierce punch and then a soul shaking scream.
Leon felt his feet freeze and heart go cold as he watched Rio constantly punish the God, and shed tears as he forced the god to look backwards before punching him hard again.
He followed their eyes movements and nearly fell back in horror as he noticed Katherine's figure lying there.
But thankfully, before he could feel any heartbreak, and lose the sense of pity for the God _ Apollo hurriedly explained the situation.
Telling him that Katherine was alive, and it was actually Rio's arrogant mistake which caused her to get hurt in the first place.
His words, though truth, but couldn't help but paint Rio in a bad light for Leon.
And that's exactly what his goal was.
[You HAVE TO save Aelthar.]
[If he dies, everything will be over.]
Seeing that the damned mortal was finally listening to him, Apollo couldn't help but barrage Leon with dozens of messages.
The urgency in his tone was apparent, especially after he noticed the few pieces of a shattered mirror on the ground.
Half of what he was after was already destroyed, _ he couldn't just sit by, and watch the other disappear too.
[I know what you're thinking, that you're no match for him.]
[But that's just for now. Go and stop Rio, while I'll have a conversation with Aelthar. And convince him to choose you as his successor.]
[With that legacy in hand, a mere Rio is nothing...]
"It's too late…..He's dead."
Leon said, interrupting Apollo. Who in turn averted his eyes from Leon and looked up to see Aelthar, _ the god whose bright soul was brimming with black hellfire.
The one whose echoing screams finally turned to silence.
For a moment, both Leon and Apollo had given up all hope _ their eyes lost and dim…until the chilling words of Rio echoed in emptiness like the cold whispers of a demon from hell.
"...A pain worth a million times, remember."
Leon looked back up in confusion, only to see Rio pull out a light blue potion unlike anything he had ever seen before, and pour into the god's dead soul.
The thought that it was a poison or something similar used to erase evidence or burn corpses _ came into his mind. _ but this line lasted only a moment as a miraculous scene happened next.
Leon watched Aelthar who was clearly 'dead' before suddenly come back to life.
His empty shell of a soul beaming with light of life again.
"..."
[....]
The shock of this sudden reversal hadn't even ended yet, but the scene that played out next, sent chills down his spine.
Leon watched as Rio picked the fallen spear again, weighing it in his hand, while magical threads moved through his fingers, tying around Aelthar, and forcing him to float.
Suddenly Aelthar's body turned over in midair. – and Leon watched as the helpless god squirmed and screamed for mercy while the threads pulled his soul to stab onto the spear.
Making sure that the gravity's pull was just about enough to pull his soul down ever so slowly _ that the god would feel every second of the spear stabbing through his pupil and reaching for his skull.
An urge to vomit came to Leon's mind as he watched the nightmare inducing torture where the mass of white liquid slid through the blade and formed a pool near his feet.
But under the constant urging of Apollo and his own heroic nature, he finally managed to bring himself together and charge towards Rio with full speed.
After all, neither he nor his god knew how many more such magical potions Rio had left on him now, or whether he was willing to spend it just for this cruel game again _ or what more hellish punishment he might use next.
But for now, they were both in sync. With only one thought in their minds. – SAVE AELTHAR.

Author note - How was it? 🙂
Idk why but I really get too into it whenever I'm imagining the scenes of such cruelty or torture themes. (maybe I should see a therapist too?) – (definitely not Michael tho)
Suggest me some scenes of cruel punishments which u want to see next? For Leon. For Aelthar. Or maybe some other character.
If it's good, I'll use it in your name. (Obviously since I'm so great, I'll give u credit too.)
