Chapter 9: White wolf
He continued to support his weight with his hands on either side of her, deep down he wondered how dumber she could get.
Who takes a casual stroll in the middle of the night ?, especially after just surviving a home assassination?
Just as he had expected, she was proving to be a big problem with her wandering around.
"Get off of me, you unruly piece of crap." she groans, pushing at his chest.
He looks down at her, staring at her like she was stranger than she already was.
He had to admit that she had balls, none of his soldiers would dare to speak to him that way, and they were twice her size.
Staring down at her, he questions," What are you doing outside so late, and why are you alone?" he questions.
She tried to stay reasonable, but her head was in the gutters, how was she to think properly when this beautiful man was practically crushing her with his delicious weight.
"First of, it's none of your business what I'm doing out by this time and secondly, I'm not a child who needs a babysitter." she snaps, and his eyes go darker.
Her lungs stutter for a second and when they pick up their regular pace she notices the lightness of the air.
Was that his doing?
"Tell me why you were outside late at night alone, or I'll stop your oxygen flow." he threatens and just like before and true to his threat, the air gets lighter once more.
"Fuck You" she groans out.
And just as she expected, the air grows even thinner, and by this time she was gasping for air, her head hurting due to the lack of oxygen.
Times like these, he wondered if it was her big mouth that got her dumb ass assassinated by the government.
"You really know how to piss someone off, don't you?" he questions, watching her struggle to breathe.
He wasn't annoyed, if anything, he wondered how she managed to survive this long with the way she ran her mouth like she had a thousand lives.
"What can I say, I aim to please". Testing the guy who could bend the fucking oxygen around them, was her asking to be killed, but she told her self that if he wanted to kill her, he would have by now.
"Tell me why you were out late Xena." he whispered softly in her ear, his lips grazing the flesh, and even though his eyes were cold, his voice was colder.
Getting tired of the constant questioning, she replies; "I came out to clear my head, I couldn't sleep, and I needed to clear my head. Why are you outside this late…" she trailed off not knowing his name, Anna had failed to mention.
"You were taking a walk at fucking 2 a.m to clear your head? Are you fucking homicidal? You could have been killed" it was crazy how his demeanor changed, he was even colder, and if she wasn't currently being suffocated she would have said that he cared.
"I had no idea, I just wanted to-"
"No one cares Xena, in this camp we do as we are told, and we follow the rules" he scolded.
Feeling even more suffocated she goes to explain her self; "I just needed some space" she whispers, the feeling of helplessness, taking over her.
"Space?, was that why you were nearing the boundaries of the camp, a few more steps, and you would have gotten your self-killed or worse, exposed the camp. You are a weakling, Xena…. Maybe even worse than a level eight… we should have let you die" he whispers the last part, and something in her snaps.
He sounded like all the sisters in the orphanage who had told her that she would never be anything, and maybe they were right, it didn't matter. What muttered was that she was tired of everyone talking down on her, when they barely even knew her.
Putting her palms on his chest, she ignores the warm feeling that passes through her as she finally pushes him off, oxygen returning to her lungs.
Dusting her self off, she looks him square in the eye,
"Perhaps you should have left me to die, but guess what dipshit, you didn't, so you and everyone else who aren't happy about my existence can go fuck yourselves" and with that she walks away, a little limp in her steps from the fall, but her head held high in pride.
Returning to her bed, she laid back down, her mind racing with thoughts on what had happened in the following hours after her coming back to life.
She thought about the amazonian lady, the blue-eyed freak whose, words had torn her heart more than she would like to admit… she couldn't run away from it now, this was her life.
This room, these people, she was just like them, and maybe she was accepting her faith a little to quickly, but she promised her self, there and then, that it didn't matter what she was, she was going to do her best and later maybe some time soon, she would investigate why the government had taken her old life from her.
