Volume 6 Chapter 13: Magitech In A World Of Sword and Magic

(Walson)

The mine suddenly exploded, filling the air with smoke and dust. Immediately after, a large rock flew into the crowd, causing panic.

A mech, continuously emitting billowing steam, burst out of the smoke. Its red iron skin clanked loudly as it charged into the square with a three-meter-long greatsword trailing sparks.

The host fell back in shock, while the bronze mech responsible for opening the stones quickly reacted. It dropped its cross manuscript and raised its electric drill in front of its chest to meet the oncoming threat.

The greatsword clashed with the electric drill!

The sound of metal colliding and sparking filled the entire area. The panicked crowd began to flee, but the scene was too crowded, and few managed to escape, making the situation even more chaotic.

"Who are you? Why are you doing this?" the bronze mech emitted a deep, hoarse voice.

The red iron mech remained silent, then suddenly loosened its grip. It delivered a heavy kick with its right foot, knocking down the bronze mech. Its sword swung, severing the bronze mech's right arm. With another spin, steam and flames mixed on the red iron mech as it thrust its sword towards the bronze mech...

However, the red iron mech stopped suddenly, unable to move its right arm for some reason.

Turning its head, it found its right arm, holding the greatsword, entangled with spider silk-like threads tied to a beam.

A beam that served as a platform support, now broken by the previous action.

The next moment, the entire platform collapsed!

The red curtain fell over the struggling iron skin, catching fire. Two large iron balls flew in and collided heavily, causing the mech to stagger and fall.

"Well done, Walson!" Chuck shouted.

"Let's evacuate the crowd first," I said, squatting on the remaining half of the beam, while casually throwing out some detonators, blowing a large hole in the wooden wall beside the audience seats.

Some people in the crowd reacted first, rushing out through the hole, and more followed suit.

As the burning curtain covering the red iron skin burned away, the mech stood up, pointing its sword at me.

Damn it, if only Melon were here, it would be a goner in second, she's the best at dismantling things.

Honestly, I didn't expect it to turn out like this. Since coming to this town, I first encountered mechs, then Chuck told me to DIY one myself, but damn it, now I have to dismantle one.

So, what method should I use— Ah!

Just then, something came crashing down from above, stirring up sand and dust, creating a dramatic entrance!!!

Wow!!! Someone actually did a superhero landing!!!

The smoke cleared, revealing the mech in a heroic landing pose, towering at a colossal 3.5 meters tall, a full meter taller than the red iron skin. Its deep blue, heavy armor was covered in a thin layer of frost, resembling a knight of the snow.

It didn't wield any weapons in its hands, only two oversized iron claws. The deep blue mech swiftly approached, fist clenched with one claw, delivering a powerful blow to knock down the red iron skin. With the other claw, it grabbed and firmly pinned the red iron skin to the ground.

Steam erupted from the iron claws at point-blank range, while a cyan magic circle appeared. The red iron skin was visibly frozen by the steam at an incredible speed, struggling in vain against the blue mech's powerful restraint.

So, that's the magic of this underground word, could this mecha be the [Mage] version?

—Good grief, this setting is too chaotic! There is even a Magitech in this world! This world is supposed to be of sword and magic, not Gundam and Magic!

Still, it seems like it's none of my business now. I walked over to Chuck's side. Chuck's complexion seemed very pale... or rather, indescribable.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Oh, just a troublesome person showed up..." Chuck rubbed his forehead.

"Um, you mean the people here are troublesome?" I recalled the mech guards I encountered when entering the city.

"Quite troublesome," Chuck shrugged.

"Shouldn't we make ourselves scarce then? It's not good to attract attention."

"No use, she's already seen me. Let's wait here until she deals with that inexplicable assailant. You're really unlucky, encountering this kind of thing as soon as you arrive," Chuck said. "But it's none of your concern. Take a good look at this 'Azure Queen'. Maybe it'll give you some inspiration for your future 'Steam Motion Armor'."

So it's called the "Azure Queen"? What a cool name.

I watched as the Azure Queen effortlessly threw the red iron skin over her shoulder, wrenching one of its arms in the process. Despite the red iron skin's attempts to resist, it was blasted in the face with steam and then frozen solid by ice magic.

It was evident that the Azure Queen had an overwhelming advantage, and the defeat of the red iron skin was only a matter of time.

To build something like that— Ohoho, wouldn't that be cool!? Building something like a Steel-O or a Sato feels pretty awesome!!

But can I do it? Although I have some remaining Redstone, my understanding of steam technology is very limited. I guess I'll have to start learning from scratch.

As the Azure Queen pinned the red iron skin to the ground, the latter had already lost its limbs but continued to struggle.

"Milady," two mechs that appeared out of nowhere approached the Azure Queen.

"Take it away," a deep, hoarse voice emanated from the Azure Queen's body.

With that command, the Azure Queen turned around and, accompanied by the rumble of the ground, strolled towards us.

It looks even bigger up close!!!! Like a blue Hulk!!!!!

"Chuck, it's been how many years? Long time no see."

"Not too long, maybe ten years. I didn't expect for us to meet like this."

"...Why did you leave back then?"

"...You should know, your sister was the love of my life. I couldn't accept her death."

"But… My sister is not your only fiancée, I'm one too…."

"...I'm sorry."

Huh!? These words sound like there's some interesting history between Chuck and the person in the Mecha?

I couldn't help but give Chuck a knowing look and then glance at the Azure Queen.

"....Your answer never changes. Who's this sneaky little guy?"

"He's Walson."

Hey, wait a minute!? Isn't it rude to call me a little guy right in front of me!?

And besides, you're all dwarves, even if you're taller than me, it's not like you're towering over me...Sniffle...

"I don't know him."

"It's a long story," Chuck said, turning to me. "Walson, you should go back. I need to talk to her alone."
