Legendary Summoner's Transmigration: I Can Capture Anything.

Chapter 145: Seven Heroes [1]

Faceless Ice Phantom pointed at himself and asked with a tilted head, "Me?"

Yorina furrowed her sword-like brows and muttered in a slightly irritated tone, "Do you see anyone other than you?"

He comically looked around himself, and after not finding any other person besides himself, he looked back at her and slowly shook his head.

A vein throbbed at her forehead due to his childish act, and she snapped. "Come here."

He ran his hand through the fur of the Galewolf and jumped off it. He then looked at her and began to stride towards her.

The Galewolf turned around and ran in the opposite direction.

Maria, who had been watching all of this play out with a frown, stepped forward and asked in a puzzled tone, "How did you obtain that star beast, Jaden?"

Faceless Ice Phantom didn't answer and continued to walk down the rubble with his thoughts unknown to all but himself.

Maria's frown deepened at his lack of response, and she asked again in a slightly louder voice, "How did you obtain that star beast?"

Taming star beasts wasn't something new. Because of the social nature of humans, they had always found ways to tame the other species, and the star beasts were no exception. However, unlike the normal animals that could be tamed at an old age, the star beasts had to be taken care of from birth, making it impossible for one to tame an adult star beast.

But the star beast that belonged to Jaden was much older than him, so it should have been impossible for him to tame it.

Faceless Ice Phantom turned his head towards Maria and asked in a hoarse voice, "Do I know you?"

Maria blinked a few times and muttered, "What?"

A wide grin split Yorina's face as she looked at both of them with her folded arms across her chest and asked in a slightly teasing tone, "So you don't remember the person who's been helping you do whatever you want?"

He turned his head towards her and continued hoarsely with a tilted head, "Helping me do whatever I want? How is that even possible..." he turned his head towards Maria and finished his words with a hint of confusion, "When I am meeting her for the first time?"

Yorina and Maria looked at each other in confusion and turned to ask him at the same time.

"What are you saying, Jaden?"

"What are you saying, Student Jaden?"

The masked man shifted his eyes at them in equal confusion and said, "Jaden? Are you talking about my friend Jaden Cross?"

Both of their confusion reached the realm of sheer bafflement as they exclaimed in sync, "Your friend?"

The masked man gave a slight nod and said, "Yes, my friend. He must have been a student within the academy... when it was still standing."

Yorina narrowed her eyes, and the elementals began to tremble around her as she asked, "Are you implying that you are not Jaden Cross?"

Faceless Ice Phantom slowly turned his head towards her and said, "I am."

"Hahaha!" Her laughter echoed within the area, and tears began to well at the corners of her eyes.

Faceless Ice Phantom continued to stare at her without any change in his expression while Maria stared at him and thought in confusion, 'Why is he lying? Did he forget that I had seen him with the mask before...? And someone had recorded it too... what is he trying to do?'

Faceless Ice Phantom glanced at her and asked, "Do you find this mask familiar?"

Maria nodded, and before she could ask anything, he said, "Of course you do. You must have seen Jaden wear one of these during that Adept-ranked gatebreak in Ambitus."

Her eyes widened in realisation and she remarked inwardly, 'So he is not Jaden...? Who the hell is he then?'

He watched her expression change with each of her thoughts and muttered, "No, I am not Jaden and as for who I am? I am simply Nobody."

Yorina, who had stopped her laughter, looked at him with a ridiculous expression and asked, "Are you not the faceless instead?"

He turned his head to her and replied in a calm voice, "Indeed, I am Facless, thus I am Nobody because I hold no face."

His voice had no gender, it had no age, so much so that it seemed to belong to no one, yet it belonged to everyone. A true paradox.

Yorina shook her and asked with a twisted smile, "You think that enhancing your voice with mana is enough for you to make a fool of us?"

She stepped forward, placed her left hand on his shoulder plate and slightly pushed down.

Crack... Crack...

Spider web-like cracks appeared beneath him but he didn't let out a single groan. He looked in her eyes and muttered, "I don't see a reason to prove myself to you."

Tssh!

Yorina's smile vanished, and the elementals began to tremble with her anger, but before she could force the elementals into a true spell, he muttered, "Reverse."

His grimoire appeared beside him, and Yorina looked at him with an amused glint in her eyes. She wanted to see what this Expert-ranked arcane knight had in store for her — a Saint-ranked arcane knight.

But neither her nor Maria would have expected what happened next.

Faceless Ice Phantom's astral core flared up, and the Gravity mana within the moon core began to flood out.

Grrr!

A round field of reverse gravity formed around him and began to clash against Yorina's weight, completely cancelling it.

Yorina and Maria's eyes widened at the unexpected turn of events, and they mumbled together, "Gravity Magic?"

He pushed her hand away and asked coldly, "Do you still think of me as Jaden Cross? Because, as far as I remember, he is a shadow marked, not a moon marked."

Yorina turned towards Maria and asked in a doubtful tone, "He is not... Jaden?"

Maria didn't answer because she had nothing to say about this absurd turn of events.

Yorina turned her head towards Faceless Ice Phantom and her lips parted to ask further, but suddenly, the sound of ringing began to resound within the area.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

She furrowed her brows, took out what appeared to be a phone from her pocket, and picked up the call.

A calm, manly voice came out of it.

<Hello? Miss Yorina, are you there?>

She raised an eyebrow and muttered, "Xeron? Why are you calling me at the time of duty?"

<I am truly sorry, but it's very important, so I had no other option.>

Hearing those words, Maria walked beside her, and Yorina asked, "What is it?"

<Seer Tyron was successful at his new method of prophecy.>

"Oh? That's great news. Now, we won't have to depend on reports—"

Xeron cut her off and continued.

<It is indeed great news, but...>

She frowned and asked, "But?"

<This method is new, so he doesn't know how much time it would take for what he had seen to occur...>

A bad premonition bubbled up in her mind, and she asked in a slightly impatient tone, "Get to the point, Xeron."

<...Tyron saw gates.>

A hollow chuckle escaped her lips, and she said, "Is that so? Are you sure he didn't just see the central district instead?"

<I wish he had seen the central district, but unfortunately, our lives are not that cheery.>

Her expression darkened, and she muttered in a slightly irritated tone, "Xeron, you'd better get to the point or I'll rip your tongue out."

A heavy, defeated sigh resounded from the phone as Xeron continued in a sombre tone.

<He saw gates... twice the number of gates we have seen till now.>

Silence descended within the area. All of their expressions turned grave, and she muttered, "What?"

<Yes, there will be more dreamgates and out of those three will be master-ranked and one saint-ranked...>

Maria, unable to hear it any longer, spat, "Are you kidding with us, Xeron?"

A hollow chuckle resounded from the phone, and he continued, <Haha... I truly wish all of this were just a humourless joke, but instead it's our dreadful reality; however, not all hope is lost.>

Yorina furrowed her brows and inquired solemnly, "Not all hope is lost? What do you mean by that?"

<Upon using this new method, Tyron found out about the seven heroes who are supposed to elevate humanity from its current crisis.>

"Ha... haha!" Maria began to laugh loudly and said, "Seven heroes? Did he forget to look for the demon king? Does he think this is a fantasy novel like Legendary Summoner's Transmigration?"

Xeron ignored her blunt remarks and continued.

<The seven heroes are said to be blessed... or cursed by fate, and thus they've been through a lot even though they are much younger than us.>

Maria's laughter stopped, and her expression turned dark as she muttered, "You don't mean—"

<Yes. Your brother, Jamie Bannister, is one of the seven heroes.>
