Chapter 337: Do you need your legs? (1)
All the Kobolds had varying complexions. Some had greenish scales covering their bodies, while others, especially those in the front, had a reddish hue to their skin.
Sarah and John immediately went on guard, stepping back, while Lucas and Jerry moved forward.
One of the Kobolds charged briskly toward them, its long claws poised to attack.
Halfway through its dash, a glow emanated from its hand, and its already long claws elongated even further.
"Jerry!" Lucas shouted.
In response, Jerry roared and ran in front of Lucas, raising his shield with a defiant smirk that only seemed to aggravate the Kobold further.
*"You think this can stop me?! Dream on!"*
The Kobold closed the gap within seconds, swiping its glowing claws toward Jerry's shield.
SHWING!
The sound of metal striking metal echoed, and Jerry's eyes widened in surprise.
The Kobold leaped back effortlessly, landing five steps away as though the clash had been nothing significant.
*"That thing is tough. I want it!"*
"Bill," Lucas muttered under his breath.
A shadowy figure emerged from the Kobold's shadow, vanishing almost instantly. The next second, blood splattered everywhere.

*"What?!"* The remaining Kobolds froze in their tracks, stunned by what had just occurred.
Before anyone could fully comprehend the situation, the Kobold's body collapsed to the ground with a loud thud.
"Sarah, two fireballs to the one on the far right," Lucas instructed.
Without hesitation, Sarah moved into position and sent a fireball hurtling toward the farthest Kobold. Her accuracy skill ensured the fireball was precise.
The Kobold felt a tingle down its spine and sharply dodged to the left just as the fireball neared, causing it to miss and vanish into the distance.
An instinctual smirk spread across the Kobold's face—a twisted expression that looked more like a crocodile attempting to smile. Lucas observed, noting how vastly different their nature was compared to the Kobolds described in this world's history.
As the Kobold smirked, another fireball shot toward it. This time, its reflexes failed.
BOOM!
The fireball hit the Kobold square in the face, and its scream of agony pierced the air.
*"AGGHHHHH! It burns! It hurts!"* the Kobold shrieked, thrashing on the ground in pain.
The sight sent shivers down the spines of the other Kobolds, who could only watch as their comrade writhed in agony. The sizzling sound of burnt flesh lingered amidst the commotion.
"Uncle John, put it out of its misery, please," Lucas said calmly.
John nodded, his expression serious. Raising his bow, he drew the string back despite the lack of an arrow.
The air solidified, and a gust of wind took the shape of an ethereal arrow.
SHING!
The arrow flew faster than Sarah's fireballs, piercing the Kobold's skull before it even realized what had happened. Its suffering ended instantly.

The remaining Kobolds were still reeling from the shock. Two had rushed forward to claim the humans' heads but were swiftly killed instead.
*"You idiots! Go all at once! What are you waiting for?!"* the Kobold leader barked from atop its mount, its hoarse voice filled with fury.
The other Kobolds hesitated, glancing between their leader and the humans, but after receiving the command, nine of them dashed toward Lucas and Jerry.
"Keep firing your best skills, everyone. If you run out of mana, use these," Lucas instructed, tossing mana potions to the ground behind him.
Drawing both swords, Lucas's presence seemed to shift subtly. Though minimal, a faint aura of chaos surrounded him, only detectable to the most sensitive among them.
"Now or never, Jerry," Lucas said, surging forward to meet the Kobolds head-on.
Three of the Kobolds charged at Lucas, attacking in unison.
Jerry prepared to assist but was intercepted by two Kobolds heading straight for him. This time, he had to rely on both his shield and his large sword.
Meanwhile, two more Kobolds sprinted toward Sarah and John, a sadistic gleam in their reptilian eyes.
Sarah launched fireballs one after another, her heart racing but her confidence steady. The fireballs exploded near the charging Kobolds, darkening the ground with each impact. Yet, their speed and reflexes allowed them to dodge every single attack.
John simultaneously hurled throwing knives at awkward angles, using his wind manipulation and accuracy skill to guide them. Unfortunately, the Kobolds evaded his attacks as well.
As the distance closed, John quickly analyzed Sarah's attack pattern and formulated a strategy. Timing his next throw perfectly, he sent a knife flying just after one of Sarah's fireballs.
The Kobold dodged the fireball, only to have the knife embed itself in its neck the next second.
The creature staggered, its eyes filled with shock. Humans? Puny humans? Killed me? Thoughts raced through its mind before it collapsed, lifeless.

The second Kobold continued toward Sarah, undeterred, but she was ready. Extending her palm, she unleashed a spray of fire instead of a fireball, forcing the Kobold to back off in surprise.
*"You… that's cheating!"* it growled angrily.
Sarah stared at the creature, her expression neutral. For a moment, she felt a strange resemblance with the Kobold, now that they spoke the same language. Despite their differences in appearance, it behaved like a reckless, ignorant child.
But her flamethrower sputtered and stopped—her mana was completely depleted.
"S-Shit!" Sarah exclaimed, panic evident in her voice.
The Kobold noticed the opportunity and lunged at her, only to be beheaded mid-air by a shadowy figure.
"You should be more careful," Bill said, landing gracefully as the remnants of his shadowy aura faded.
Sarah glanced at the two Kobolds Bill had slain and sighed, realizing none of her attacks had landed. Her gaze shifted toward Lucas, who was calmly cleaning the blood off his sword under the shade of a tree. Jerry had also finished his fight.
The mounted Kobold's mouth hung open in shock.
"Are you sure you want to fight now?" Lucas asked, his voice calm yet cutting. "Seeing how unskilled your people are, it's clear you've all been slacking in your territory. You don't even know or have any skills that can help you. Truly a pity for such strong bodies."
Lucas clicked his tongue and shook his head in disappointment.
*"Hah! Tough words for someone so weak. I'll show you the power of the mighty Kobolds!"*
Lucas heard it and sighed in even more disappointment. It seemed the boos still didn't know what the reality was.
The Kobold dismounted, kicking its pig-like steed in frustration. The creature squealed in pain, causing Lucas's and the others' expressions to darken.
The Kobold strutted toward them with arrogance.
"Uncle John, do you remember the Kobolds we fought at the beginning?" Lucas asked, his aloof expression locking onto the approaching enemy.
