Chapter 661: Remote Control Nuclear Bomb, Arrest, Accident
Wilfredo, whose main occupation was a mercenary, was not one to abide by rules, or rather, he only followed the law of the jungle and the rules that benefitted him.
Driving in the wrong direction on the road was a minor matter to Wilfredo, but when others did the same and, lacking driving skills, crashed into his vehicle, that was intolerable.
"Damn it..."
Wilfredo cursed out loud, then quickly realized something was wrong:
Aside from him and the law enforcement officers, there was no one else on this road, everyone else stayed far away, reluctant to approach.
In this situation, only two kinds of people could crash into his SUV:
Either someone simply unskilled and unaware of traffic rules, accidentally hitting the SUV while driving in the wrong lane,
or someone intentionally driving in the wrong lane, aiming to crash into his SUV!
Various thoughts flashed through Wilfredo's mind, and as he realized this, he immediately reached for the AR-15 rifle in the passenger seat, at the same time looking into the rearview mirror to assess the situation.
Bang!
Crash——
Just then, the glass of the car door next to the main driver's seat was violently shattered, and a hand suddenly reached in, grabbing the collar in front of Wilfredo's neck.
Wilfredo's pupils contracted, and before he could react, a tremendous force came, and he was directly pulled out through the car window!
Bang——
With force, Wilfredo was thrown to the ground; the AR-15 that was pulled out in the process was kicked far away. Luo An then took the opportunity to deliver a fierce kick to his chest.
Just as Wilfredo began to reverse the car, Luo An arrived in the area driving an SUV.
Seeing the group from Ensinor City law enforcement being pushed back by Wilfredo, a pale-faced Ophelia cursed out loud.
Luo An was unperturbed, seizing the opportunity to swiftly turn the steering wheel, driving the SUV into the oncoming lane and directly towards the SUV.
Previously, when Mona was monitoring through surveillance, she not only saw a cylindrical object in the back seat of the SUV but also noticed traces of rope and bars under the cover, leading her to deduce that Wilfredo had taken measures to reinforce the items in the back of his vehicle.
Luo An agreed with Mona's deduction; after all, Wilfredo was a mercenary, and without careful habits, he could not have survived until today.
Considering the dangerous nature of a nuclear warhead in the back seat, Wilfredo would have definitely taken multiple precautions with reinforcements and bindings to prevent any accidental falls from the back seat.
It was based on this deduction and the "emotional sensing" in his mind confirming no danger ahead, that Luo An finally decided to crash into it, forcing the other party to stop.
"%¥#*..."
Wilfredo cursed in some foreign language as he quickly rolled to the side to evade Luo An's heavy kick.
With a kip-up, Wilfredo stood up, putting his left hand in his pocket while drawing a dagger with his right hand and stabbing at Luo An.
Hiss——
The dagger whooshed through the air emitting a shrill sound. Luo An easily dodged backward, and as Wilfredo stepped forward to strike again, Luo An grinned and suddenly pulled out a Glock Pistol from behind:
"Don't move!"
"..."
Wilfredo's movements froze and his face stiffened; Luo An kept a close watch on Wilfredo, and without turning his head, shouted loudly:
"How's the situation?"
Behind them at the SUV, Ophelia opened the back seat door and forcefully lifted the cover on the back seat, revealing a dark gray cylindrical object with an oval base and a pointed top, which immediately caught her eye.
"It's this!"
Ophelia's eyes lit up as she replied loudly:
"Found the nuclear warhead!"
"Good."
Having kept the "emotional sensing" on and not detecting any danger, with the Geiger counter at his back also remaining silent, Luo An breathed a sigh of relief and then said with a smile:
"Hello, Mr. Wilfredo, I'm from the FBI.
Congratulations, for stealing a nuclear warhead, you are under arrest."
As Luo An spoke, seeing Wilfredo pulled out of the car, the law enforcement vehicles in the distance no longer felt afraid, quickly rushing forward with guns drawn to surround Wilfredo in the middle of the crowd.
"Don't move!"
"Put your hands up!"
"Get down! Get down now!"
"No, Mr. FBI, it is you who have been caught by me."
Despite facing numerous gun barrels, Wilfredo remained unfazed. He ignored the Ensinor City law enforcement officers and instead, grinned, opening his left hand.
A dark box, slightly smaller than a cell phone with a few buttons, was in his hand. Wilfredo chuckled and said:
"I've placed a little something inside that nuclear warhead. This is its remote control.
I suggest you let me leave immediately, or you can gamble whether this remote control is real or fake.
The stakes are simple, just the explosion of the nuclear warhead, all of us die, and this area gets contaminated with radiation for miles around."
"..."xN
As the law enforcement personnel from Ensinor City saw the small black box in Wilfredo's hand and heard his words, their bodies jolted, the scene fell silent, and the faces of several leaders turned pale.
Ophelia, standing beside the SUV, began breathing rapidly. She only knew some information and the appearance of the warhead, but didn't know how to dismantle it and couldn't confirm whether Wilfredo's words were true or false.
Seeing everyone else beginning to get emotionally unstable and even panicky, the FBI agent in their midst still maintained a composed expression, unfazed. Wilfredo let out a chuckle and continued:
"I'll give you five minutes to bring an expert to assess the situation.
After five minutes, I will leave this place. Any questions?
Furthermore, to all enforcement officers, I was merely passing by on this road and had no intentions of entering the city, so you can rest assured."
Hearing Wilfredo's words, the eyes of a few leaders of the law enforcement team lit up.
They exchanged glances and quickly understood each other's thoughts. A portly middle-aged Caucasian man nodded slightly and moved towards Luo An, whispering:
"Mr. FBI, I think…"
Bang!
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The portly white man had barely started speaking when several gunshots suddenly rang out. Wilfredo was hit on the left wrist first, causing the black box to fall to the ground, then both legs and shoulders were hit, and his body fell backward to the ground.
The sudden gunfire startled everyone. As the gunfire ceased, everyone hastily aimed their guns at the shooter who turned out to be Luo An.
Whew—
Blowing off the smoke from the barrel, Luo An holstered his pistol and explained with a composed face:
"He was lying. That little box isn't a remote control."
Since he had the "emotional perception" continuously activated, Luo An had detected the lies from Wilfredo right from his first sentence. It wasn't hard to guess the motive, which was to scare these people into letting him go.
Luo An walked over to Wilfredo, squatted, picked up the small box and chuckled:
"Dividing and persuading, the latter sentences were a good tactic."
The intense pain from the gun wounds and the frustration of his plans being exposed made Wilfredo's eyes redden with rage as he spewed insults at Luo An from all angles.
Luo An pulled out handcuffs and secured him, saying calmly:
"Save your energy. Keep the insults for the hospital, don't get too excited and bleed out on the way."
Wilfredo grew even angrier but immediately ceased his insults.
Luo An snickered, which was another reason he deduced the small black box was a bluff:
Wilfredo may be a mercenary who killed people on battlefields, but he was afraid of dying. After all, one needs to be alive to enjoy beautiful women and food, so he would never gamble with his life.
Briefly handling the law enforcement personnel of Ensinor City with a few words, Luo An wasn't in the mood for more pointless talk. He urged them to promptly call the experts to manage the warhead since none of the people at the site knew how to handle it.
Before long, experts arrived at the scene and began their work, and seconds later, Luo An's phone suddenly rang:
"It's me, Mona."
Mona's voice was urgent:
"Chenier and Reesi are missing!"
Luo An's eyes narrowed; before he could speak, Ophelia suddenly hurried over, lowering her voice:
"Luo An, something is wrong with this nuclear warhead."
