Chapter 562: Rister Krista's Ideas and Plans
Two hours later, in a temporarily borrowed office at the FBI Las Vegas Branch.
The same office, this time hosting a different visitor.
The man had dark brown short hair and wore black glasses on his nose. With broad eyebrows and a wide face, he wore a high-end black suit and had a smile that gave off a very amiable impression.
"Hello, Group Leader Greenwood."
The man was none other than Rister Krista, the currently only surviving third son of the Krista family. He reached out his hand to Luo An with a smile:
"I've heard about you from Rekasha, the dashing Group Leader Greenwood who solves cases brilliantly.
Now that I see you in person, I realize that I've underestimated you greatly."
"Hello, Mr. Rister, please take a seat."
Luo An laughed heartily, shook hands with the man, and after they exchanged a few pleasantries, Luo An steered the conversation toward the main topic:
"Mr. Rister, where were you on the night of the incident?"
"I was traveling abroad."
Rister chuckled with a relaxed demeanor:
"Many people knew about it, and there were quite a few people with me. It's easy to investigate."
After a few non-informative questions, Luo An continued:
"Before I came here, many rumors suggested that it was you, Mr. Rister, who had harmed your own brother and sister. What do you think about that?"
"Slander, defamation."
Rister shook his head and said:
"Councilman Shemor and President Lucille are my biological brother and sister. I absolutely did not do such a thing.
To be honest with Group Leader Greenwood, my dream since childhood has been to travel the world, to explore mysterious tales from all over, not to deal with business affairs in the company. Those are not my forte."
Rister expressed himself as someone who only intended to rely on his siblings to enjoy life and had no motive to kill the two.
Chenier frowned slightly upon hearing this and looked subtly at Luo An. Keeping his composure, Luo An asked:
"After Councilman Shemor and President Lucille went missing, did you do anything?"
"I sent people to look for them."
"Who did you send?"
"People from our family, hired detectives, we had both."
Rister picked up his coffee and took a sip, stating:
"If Group Leader Greenwood needs it, I can give you a list of those people."
"OK."
Luo An readily agreed and proceeded to ask:
"Did these people find any clues?"
"They discovered several things, but haven't found the bodies yet."
"Bodies?"
Upon hearing this word, Chenier raised her head sharply, Luo An squinted his eyes, and asked:
"Mr. Rister, have you already concluded that Councilman Shemor and President Lucille are deceased?"
"Not confirmed."
Rister shook his head, put down the coffee cup, and said:
"But with such a long disappearance, no one has contacted us for a ransom, nor to make any demands.
The family has already mentally prepared for the worst regarding Shemor and Lucille."
"A very sound reason."
Luo An nodded with a smile and then changed the subject:
"I heard that Mr. Rister and Miss Rekasha are engaged?"
"Correct."
Rister said:
"Rekasha is both beautiful and capable, certainly would make a fine wife, wouldn't she?"
"Your brother and sister just went missing, don't you think it's a bit hasty to get engaged so quickly?"
"The urgency dictates the approach. Our family doesn't really care about these matters."
"So, did Miss Rekasha send people to look for Councilman Shemor and President Lucille?"
"Of course."
"Did she find them?"
"No, she didn't."
"..."
Luo An and Rister looked at each other silently for a few seconds, then Luo An picked up his coffee and sipped before asking:
"There are many questions unresolved in this case, and our Unit Thirteen needs some information about Councilman Shemor and President Lucille's work history, schedule, and the flow of their security personnel before they disappeared. Mr. Rister, we hope you can provide us with this information."
"No problem, I'll have someone bring it over right away!"
Rister nodded repeatedly:
"If there is anything else Group Leader Greenwood requires, just say the word, and I will cooperate fully!"
After discussing a few other matters, Luo An stood up to see Mr. Rister off.
As the latter was about to leave, Luo An reached out again to shake hands with Mr. Rister, smiling and saying:
"Miss Rekasha is very beautiful, congratulations Mr. Rister."
"When we get married, I will send an invitation to Group Leader Greenwood."
Mr. Rister, beaming with happiness, said:
"Group Leader Greenwood must come."
"OK."
Luo An smiled and nodded in agreement. Then, suddenly remembering something, he slapped his forehead and asked:
"If I may ask, have you thought about the name for your future child? I think this matter requires some advance thought."
"It's too early for that, we haven't decided yet."
Letting go of the handshake, Mr. Rister looked at Luo An and said:
"But in any case, the child will have the Krista surname, won't they?"
After some brief pleasantries, Mr. Rister left with his people. Chenier closed her notebook, watching the gradually disappearing figure of their guest, then turned to Luo An and asked in a low voice:
"How is it?"
Chenier knew about Luo An's excellent ability to analyze micro-expressions, allowing him to judge the truthfulness of someone's words.
Although she didn't quite understand how Luo An did it, after working so many cases together, Chenier had full trust in Luo An's judgments as more than ninety percent of them were correct.
"More truth, less lies."
Luo An shook his head, turned, and walked back to the conference room. Just now, by relying on the "emotional perception" in his mind, he confirmed that Mr. Rister's claim of innocence was true; that Mr. Rister wasn't the one behind this case.
Apart from that, Mr. Rister's statement that he knew the people Miss Rekasha had sent out hadn't found Councilman Shemor and President Lucille was a lie.
Meaning Mr. Rister knew that Miss Rekasha had already found the bodies of his brother and sister.
Hearing Luo An's words, Chenier's eyes widened in disbelief:
"Mr. Rister knows about this, yet pretends to be unaware?
Is he just going to watch as the bodies of his brother and sister are controlled by Rekasha O'Dell, letting her take advantage of the situation to cause trouble and swallow up the shares of the Krista Family Group?"
"So, this Mr. Rister fellow is not simple either."
Luo An poured a cup of coffee for Chenier, then continued pouring his own coffee as he said:
"Do you remember my last question?"
"You mean the child's name?"
"The name isn't important, the surname is."
When Mr. Rister previously stated the child would have the Krista surname, his emotional attitude was extremely firm.
Furthermore, considering Mr. Rister said he wasn't adept at managing company affairs and the company's shares fell after his brother and sister disappeared, Luo An quickly guessed Mr. Rister's thoughts and plans:
If he wasn't good at handling company work, rather than letting others use underhanded methods to usurp the Krista Family Group, it would be better to actively bring someone in.
The person Mr. Rister chose was Rekasha O'Dell.
Firstly, Rekasha O'Dell was capable and resourceful, skilled at handling company affairs and dealing with those with ulterior motives; secondly, Rekasha O'Dell was a woman.
Hearing Luo An, Chenier frowned and said:
"Rekasha O'Dell is a woman, after her death, the business will inevitably be handed over to her children.
As long as the child born to them carries the Krista surname… No, even if the child doesn't carry the Krista surname, the child's blood will still contain the Krista family's genes.
So, the Krista Family Group, in the end, would still be the Krista family's group."
"Correct."
Luo An nodded, and after a few seconds of silence, Chenier's brows were still tightly furrowed:
"Can't Rekasha O'Dell see through Mr. Rister's intentions?"
"As smart as Rekasha O'Dell is, she must have realized it. But from her perspective, this is also a very good choice."
Luo An downed his coffee, patted Chenier's shoulder, and smiled:
"Don't forget, the Audel family is now left with only Rekasha O'Dell.
The child she and Mr. Rister have will not only be of the Krista family's blood but also of her Audel family's blood.
Both parties share a common goal, so this is a collaboration. That's why Mr. Rister turns a blind eye to Rekasha O'Dell's stirring of trouble.
As for marriage… it's just a transaction."
"…"
After a long silence, Chenier abruptly raised her cup and drained the coffee, then reflected:
"The thoughts and considerations of these wealthy people are really too complex."
Luo An ignored Chenier's complex emotions, waited a moment, and then took a large pile of documents from Mr. Rister's secretary. He pulled out his phone and called Reesi:
"How are things on your end?"
"We're on our way back with the bodies."
Reesi answered:
"Also, there's something that I find a bit strange."
"What is it?"
"The cross and the ruby ring have both disappeared."
